Mohamud Hassan, 24, was arrested in his Cardiff home on Friday 8th January under the most violent of circumstances. 20 South Wales police officers removed all occupants from the residence leaving Mohamud alone. During this time Mohamud was severely beaten and abused. He was then forcibly taken to Cardiff Bay Police station.

He told our family members that he was tasered twice and through images they could see bite marks all over his body. Additionally, he stated that he was brutally kicked in the head and suffered injuries to his face and knee- it was dislocated, and he struggled to walk. Witnesses say that he was covered in blood with significant injuries to his mouth.

He received no medical care.

Mohamud was released at approximately 11am the following day without charge. Too tired to seek medical attention, he returned home to rest at approximately 5pm. Later that evening he was found in his bed unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene however the official cause of death is currently unknown.

We are attempting to raise money for funeral arrangements and legal fees. A case has been opened however to ensure justice we are also looking into opening a private case of our own.

Our aunt is devastated by the loss of her eldest son. We will not allow Mohamud to become another statistic. Black men cannot continue to be treated as second class citizens by police. His death was avoidable as were so many others. Mohamud was not the first victim of police brutality but we will try and make sure that he is the last.

Please help us get #justice4Mohamud by donating, sharing this post and spreading his story. Any support is appreciated.

We are Mohamud's cousins helping our aunt raise money for funeral arrangements and legal fees heading our way. The funds raised will be spent on funeral arrangements, legal costs of solictors, extra expenses on reports and the private case were holding. I have also added a beneficiary of Ikram Hamud who is also in charge of the money and this campaign. Once our campaign is finished and our target is reached, it will directly be given to Mohamud's immediate family to then spend on what is needed to win and receive the justice we deserve. Feel free to ask myself, Ikram or any other family members with any other questions or queries you may have.

Asylum seekers who formed a union last year - Camp Residents of Penally - (CROP) staged protests against the abysmal for profit camp operated by ClearSprings, and it looks like they have been victorious.

Chris Philp, the Home Office immigration minister said "suitable dispersed accommodation as soon as reasonably practical", which is a promising development for the residents who have been been treated like prisoners since being shipped there against their will.
