नामांकन और चुनाव
जब, भारत सरकार अधिनियम 1935 के प्रावधानों के तहत, संयुक्त प्रांत में विधान परिषद अस्तित्व में आई, तो इसमें 60 सदस्य शामिल थे
26 जनवरी 1950 को, उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य की विधान परिषद (विधान परिषद) की कुल सदस्यता 60 से बढ़ाकर 72 कर दी गई।
संविधान (सातवां संशोधन) अधिनियम 1956 के साथ, विधान परिषद की सीटे बढ़ाकर 108 कर दी गई।
नवंबर 2000 में उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के पुनर्गठन और उत्तराखंड राज्य के निर्माण के बाद यह संख्या अब घटकर 100 रह गई है।
• विधान परिषद की वर्तमान संरचना इस प्रकार है :
10 सदस्य उत्तर प्रदेश के राज्यपाल द्वारा मनोनीत किये जाते हैं।
38 सदस्य उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा के सदस्यों द्वारा चुने जाते हैं।
36 सदस्य स्थानीय निकायों द्वारा चुने जाते हैं।
8 सदस्य शिक्षकों द्वारा चुने जाते हैं।
8 सदस्य स्नातकों द्वारा चुने जाते हैं।
