Seattle PD has released the bodycam footage from their civilian murder last night. EXTREME TRIGGER WARNING. You do not have to watch. The victim was shot with zero de-escalation or less-lethal methods. Scanner calls show that West Precinct officers requested less-lethal 40mm rounds, and shot and killed a person in a mental health crisis 3 minutes later. The person was holding a knife and said "please kill me." There was no danger to the police involved. The press conference with Valerie Carson yesterday following the scene was an outright lie, as less-lethals were not used, nor were they even attempted to be used. It's reported Port of Seattle Police tried to use rubber bullets but for unknown reasons SPD was called in and then tried to request their own, 3 minutes before unleashing 5 shots at the victim. Seattle Police had many opportunities to de-escalate and help a person in crisis, and chose to use lethal force. The officers involved are now on paid administrative leave.
