Guns ,Cannons and Gunpowder : [ basis of all firearms ]
ShukraNeeti , also mentioned in Kamandakiya nitisara { 4th century BC } mentions that Astras are of 2 types :
Nalika is divided into 2 types :
1. Gun i.e. लघु नालिका
2. Cannon i.e. बृहन्नालिका
Ammo/Bullet of Gun is made from सीसा i.e. Lead {Pb} whereas cannonball of लौह i.e. Iron ; also can contain 2 small bullets in it.
Body of Guns and Cannons are made of durable substances like Iron and others metals. Also tells how to make them and use them in war.

1. Mantrika {enchanted} like Divyastras.
2. Nalika { used by Gunpowder } : Like Guns , cannon , primitive Bazookas like Shataghni etc.
In 4th Adhyaya , It says clearly about
1. Making Gunpowder i.e. अग्निचूर्ण with the help of सुवर्चिलवण [Saltpetre] , गन्धक [Sulphur] , अङ्गारः [Charcoal] as main ingredients.
Surprisingly , the Modern composition of Gunpowder is same , with some minute differences.
Nalika is divided into 2 types :

Views of Swami Dayanand Saraswati Ji
A renowned scholar of Vedas and social reformer , Swami Dayanand Saraswati also believed in the existence of Various Astras.
He normalised the Astras very much. It seems he was quite obsessed with the great knowledge of Ancient Bharatvarsha.

1. These Astras were the work of Chemistry and intellectuals.
2. They were used multiple times in previous wars of Bharat and Ramayana.
3. They were not so much like metaphorical and destroyers at cosmic level as we have heard.
4. Say that Cannons = शतघ्नी , Guns = भुशुण्डी

Sacrificial pits and fire worshiping at Sanghol , an ancient site where Indus valley and Mauryan Shunga and Kushana Vedic rituals meet.
ये साइट बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि यहाँ पर उत्तर हड़प्पा काल का अंतिम चरण और समकालीन बारा संस्कृति के साक्ष्य मिले हैं जो ये सिद्ध करता है कि यहाँ पर कभी ना कभी हड़प्पा और बारा संस्कृति का प्रभाव था।
यहां मिले यज्ञकुंडों में हमें हवन सामग्री के पदारथ जैसे चावल, जौ, गेहूं, उड़द, मूंग मसूर और तिल भी देखने को मिलते हैं
साथ ही वही सभी कटी हुई लकड़ियों का उपयोग हुआ है जिनका उपयोग यज्ञ में होता है
यहाँ पर ड्राईफ्रूट्स जैसे बादाम किशमिश खजूर वगैरा की आहुति देने का भी प्रमाण प्राप्त हुआ है
