अप्सराएं कौन है ? देवी या हूरें ?

अक्सर अप्सराओं को इस्लाम की हूर ( जन्नती वेश्या ) के समतुल्य बताया जाता है । आइए वास्तविकता जानते हैं ।

अप्सरा अपस् + सार से बना है अर्थात् जल का सार । लौकिक संस्कृत तथा उसके काव्य में अप्सराओं को गंधर्वपत्नी या देवपत्नी कहा गया है ।

नाट्यशास्त्र १.४६-४७ के अनुसार ब्रह्माजी ने अप्सराओं की सृष्टि तब की जब नृत्य में कैशिकी वृत्ति के सम्यक प्रयोग की आवश्यकता थी अर्थात् अप्सराएं नृत्य प्रवर्तिका देवियां है ।

अथर्ववेद २.२.५ में सायणाचार्य ने अप्सराओं को गंधर्वपत्नी कहा है ।

परंतु अप्सरा का वास्तविक एवं वैदिक अर्थ क्या होता है आइए देखते हैं ।

यजुर्वेद १८.३९-४३ और अथर्ववेद २.२ अनुसार

सूर्य गंधर्व है और किरणें अप्सरा ।

चंद्रमा विश्वावसु गंधर्व है और नक्षत्र अप्सरा ।

वायु गंधर्व है और जल अप्सरा ।

यज्ञ गंधर्व है और दक्षिणा अप्सरा ।

प्रजापति और मन गंधर्व है और वेदमंत्र अप्सरा ।

महाभारत १२.९८.४८ का श्लोक बोरी ने प्रक्षिप्त माना है अतः वहां से अप्सराओं की सिद्धि नहीं होती ।

अतः सिद्ध होता है कि अप्सराएं कोई हूर जैसी जन्नती वेश्या नहीं है ।

A Yupa inscription from East Borneo , Indonesia , Mentions A Soma Yagya and it's Yupa !!!

The inscription is written in Sanskrit and Brahmi script by a king named Mulavarman , who performed Soma Sacrifice ( Soma yagya ) and inscribes 2 yupa inscriptions.

It is also having Anushtubha chhanda

Dating back to the 5th century CE ( 400 CE as per Kern ) , this inscription is a powerful evidence of Yagya , showing that the Area was influenced by Vedic culture.

Sir Mortimer Wheeler in his book THE INDUS CIVILIZATION, third edition published by Cambridge University press , writes on Page 109

The Linga Worship was common in Early Indus civilization. The miniature lingas and Yonis are correctly identified as Shivalingam. Probably today's worship of Nandi bull and Shivaling were inherited by Modern Hindus.

Sir John Marshall , In his book , MOHANJODARO AND THE INDUS CIVILIZATION , writes that

A lot of Miniature lingas are found from Harappa , and even they were also used as Good luck symbols at that time.
