Peroz III

The Sasanian Government-in-Exile: In 661 AD, Emperor Gaozong of Tang established a symbolic "Persian Area Command" (in modern-day Afghanistan/Zarandj) and formally recognized Peroz III as its governor and the legitimate "King of Persia".

As Arab armies advanced further, Peroz permanently relocated to the Tang capital of Chang'an (modern Xi'an) around 670–674 AD. He was given the high military title of General of the Right Militant Guard and was permitted to construct a Persian temple to practice his faith. He died in China around 679 AD.
