Every time the Pentagon’s protected class gets touched, the media rushes in with the same tired script: chaos, norms, politicization, danger, democracy, anonymous sources, grave concern, blah blah blah.

Funny how the stenographers never run that script when the brass is pushing DEI into the ranks.

They never panic when readiness gets subordinated to identity politics.

They never treat Kabul as an accountability crisis.

They never ask why failure keeps floating upward with a ribbon rack and a book deal.

But remove one member of the sacred star chamber and suddenly every newsroom in Washington starts typing like MacArthur just crossed the Potomac with a cavalry division.

Please.

A general’s rank is not a royal title.

A fourth star is not a property deed.

Retirement is not a shadow command.

And a friendly profile in The Atlantic is not a constitutional shield.

Senior officers serve the elected civilian leadership. They do not get to form an alumni board, launder their preferences through prestige media, and then call it “professionalism” when someone refuses to obey their club rules.

Hegseth’s real crime is not politicizing the Pentagon.

His crime is refusing to bow before the marble altar of credentialed failure.

That is why the panic feels so coordinated. Because it is not reporting. It is reputation management for an empire that thought it owned the building.

Stars are not sovereignty.

The Pentagon is not a retirement village for untouchables.

And The Atlantic does not get a veto.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who is now running for governor, is putting dead voters back on the voter rolls and mailing absentee ballots after they are removed.

Michigan Rep. Rachelle Smit said, “I took a deceased voter off the rolls in my township, and guess what? That voter was put back on.”

“There was a family member who at one point was registered at my in-laws’ home, and that family member had died nearly 20 years prior. They were put on the rolls in 2020. They were mailed absentee ballots and voter application materials without authorization.”

In other words: Jocelyn Benson is doing the Katie Hobbs for the Michigan Gubernatorial election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Burchett’s breakdown was blunt: the bill “𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘦” and doesn’t restrict foreign nationals or illegal aliens from buying homes. What it does include: 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐛’𝐬 $𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 and the reinstatement of COVID-era eviction moratoriums — the same protections used to let illegal aliens squat in housing and block landlords from removing them.

An independent breakdown of the bill confirmed Burchett’s read: no new citizenship verification, no immigration status checks, no restriction on foreign nationals buying homes (𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘴, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴), and the COVID eviction protections specifically benefited illegal alien tenants under Biden.

The German government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz is funding a nationwide campaign promoting the slogan "Muslims: A part of you!" as part of its "Action Weeks Against Anti-Muslim Racism." The whole program is funded at the expense of German taxpayers.

The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs has awarded €624,997 in 2026 to CLAIM, the organization coordinating the campaign, which includes billboards, exhibitions, conferences, school programs and public events across Germany.

The funding has drawn criticism because CLAIM inherited the structures and staff of a previous alliance of around 50 Muslim organizations that was dissolved in 2025. Germany's domestic intelligence services tied that network to groups linked to political Islam, including Muslim Brotherhood circles and Hamas-supporter networks.

Trump and the End of the Rules Based Illusion on America’s 250th Birthday

As the U.S. nears its 250th birthday, it is finally confronting a truth Alexander Hamilton would have recognised instantly: the comforting story of a post World War II “rules based order” was flawed from the start.

For three generations, Western technocrats claimed that a thicket of treaties and institutions had transcended power politics. The IMF, World Bank, UN, GATT/WTO, NATO, and a growing universe of regimes were marketed as neutral mechanisms for producing “the global interest”. In practice, they locked in a particular hierarchy of interests and dressed it up as law. Sovereignty, industrial policy, and hard national advantage were treated as relics to be moralized away.

From the beginning, the system was structurally flawed. It claimed universality while being designed for a U.S. led Atlantic bloc. Keynes explicitly warned as much at Bretton Woods.

As postcolonial nations, China, and revanchist Russia entered, you could no longer aggregate radically divergent preferences into one coherent “global will” and still pretend neutrality.

The “rules” defaulted to serving familiar winners, offshored supply chains, falling standards of living, financialized economies, and open ended security commitments.

Basic economics reinforces the point. In a closed world economy, global surpluses and deficits must net to zero; someone must absorb everyone else’s mercantilism and excess savings.

For decades, the U.S. played that role, running deficits and underwriting demand. A 250 year old republic with frayed infrastructure, social division, and fiscal strain can no longer pretend that being consumer, creditor of last resort, and global policeman is a free lunch.

President Trump’s heresy is to say the quiet part out loud: there is no view from nowhere, no “international community” above nations. Rules that do not serve American security, prosperity, and cohesion are not sacred; they are policy choices, and they can be revoked. America First is not isolationism but the adult recognition that every order has a sovereign and every rulebook has losers.

Hamilton, Clay, and Jackson would have recognised the principle: standards and institutions must serve national development, not abstract cosmopolitan ideals. For years, the U.S. has lived under standards written by global technocrats; as Secretary Bessent notes, “standards are strategy”, and if America does not write them, it will live under those written by others.

On America’s 250th birthday, the task is Hamiltonian in spirit: to design a new order in which rules and standards are explicitly calibrated to American strength, security, and productive capacity, and answerable to the citizens who bear their costs.
