The One Who Dies Upon Shirk Vs. the Muslim Who Dies Upon Sins

Imam Ash-Shawkaani (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"There is no disagreement among the Muslims, that if a mushrik (polytheist) dies while committing shirk (associating others with Allah), he will not be forgiven in the way that Allah may forgive those who do not commit shirk, according to His will and decree. As for the Muslim sinners who do not associate others with Allah, they are under Allah’s will—He may forgive whomever He wills and punish whomever He wills."

It’s One or the Other

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

A Sign of the Servants’ Love for their Lord, from Deeds that Lead to His Love for them

Imam Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Disobedience to Allah Leads to the Corruption of Affairs—May Allah be Merciful to us

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"Allah is not disobeyed with anything except that He corrupts it for its owner. Whoever disobeys Allah with his wealth, He corrupts it for him. Whoever disobeys Him with his status, He corrupts it for him. Whoever disobeys Him with his tongue, heart, or any of his limbs, He corrupts it for him, even if he does not feel its corruption."

Reaching the Month of Ramadan is a Great Blessing

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The Blessings of Righteous Companionship—Even a Dog Was Honoured!

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, said in His Book:

وَكَلْبُهُم بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِالْوَصِيدِ

“And their dog stretched out its forelegs at the entrance.” (Al-Kahf: 18).

Qadi Abu Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“My father, may Allah be pleased with him, told me that he heard Abu al-Fadl al-Jawhari in the mosque of Egypt, delivering a sermon in the year 469 AH, saying from the pulpit: ‘Whoever loves the people of goodness will attain some of their blessings. A dog loved the people of virtue and accompanied them, and Allah mentioned it in His clear Book.’”

— Ibn ‘Atiyyah, Al-Muharrar Al-Wajiz, Tafsir of Surah Al-Kahf, v. 18.

Ibn ‘Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) is also reported to have stated:

“Since even a dog attained this high status due to its companionship and association with the righteous and the friends of Allah—such that Allah, the Almighty, mentioned it in His Noble Book—then what do you think of the believing monotheists who accompany, love, and associate with the righteous and the pious?”

And what is apparent, is that this is in line with the hadeeth of our noble beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), when he said:

“The example of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of the perfume seller and the blacksmith. The perfume seller will either give you some of his perfume, or you will find a pleasant fragrance from him, while the blacksmith will either burn your clothes or you will find an unpleasant smell from him.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari).

And Allah knows best.

May Allah allow us to benefit from the blessings of the righteous and protect us from the harms of the wicked. Aameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his noble companions.

The Reward of Fasting and Praying in Ramadan: A Chance to Be Sinless Like a Newborn

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Abdur-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned the month of Ramadan and said:

“Whoever fasts and prays during it with faith and seeking reward will be free from his sins like the day his mother gave birth to him.”

📚 Sahih Ibn Majah (1101). Graded as Sahih (authentic) by Al-Albani.

Is the hadith referring to minor sins, or both major and minor sins?

This hadith has various routes of transmission. However, regarding the specific wording, Shaykh Nooruddin Al-Sindi (d. 1138 AH) (may Allah have mercy on him) stated:

“The apparent meaning of the hadith is that it refers to both minor and major sins, and it is unlikely that it refers only to minor sins, due to the analogy used (i.e., the day his mother gave birth to him).”

— Al-Sindi’s Commentary on Sunan Ibn Majah, no. 1328.

And Allah knows best.

We ask Allah from His favour, bounty & forgiveness. Aameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his noble companions.

The Path to True Success: Remembering Allah

“And remember Allah much so that you may be successful.” [Al-Jumu’ah: 10]

Al-Tahir ibn Ashur (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"Beware of becoming fully absorbed in worldly matters, to the point where you forget to remember Allah or become distracted from prayers. True success lies in seeking the pleasure of Allah, the Most High."

📢 Important Announcement: Seeking Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
As-Salamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are about to enter the last ten nights of Ramadan 1446. Within these nights lies the blessed Laylatul Qadr – a night Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) describes as being “better than a thousand months.” (Surah Al-Qadr, 97:3)

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Whoever stands (in prayer) during Laylatul Qadr with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven.”

— (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 1901; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 760)

The Odd Nights to Seek Laylatul Qadr:

21st Night: Thursday, 20th March 2025

23rd Night: Saturday, 22nd March 2025

25th Night: Monday, 24th March 2025

27th Night: Wednesday, 26th March 2025

29th Night: Friday, 28th March 2025

Virtues of Laylatul Qadr:

1. Forgiveness of sins: A chance to have all previous sins wiped clean.

2. Immense reward: Worship on this night is worth more than 83 years of worship.

3. Descent of angels: The angels, including Jibreel (عليه السلام), descend with peace and blessings.

4. Acceptance of Du’as: An unparalleled opportunity to have your prayers accepted.

Wise Words from Shaykh Ibn Baz (رحمه الله):

According to Shaykh Ibn Baz (رحمه الله):

“The most correct view is that Laylatul Qadr moves through all the last ten nights, but it is most likely on the odd-numbered nights, particularly the night preceding the 27th day.”

“Whoever strives in ‘Ibadah (worship) during all of the last ten nights – offering Salah, reciting Qur’an, making Du’a, and participating in charitable acts – will undoubtedly catch Laylatul Qadr and attain what Allah has promised to those who do so with faith and seeking reward.”

— (From Fatwas of Ibn Baz, Volume 6)

Recommended Du’a for Laylatul Qadr:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allahumma innaka ‘Afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.

(O Allah, You are Forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me.)

— (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3513)

Encouragement:
The opportunity of Laylatul Qadr only comes once a year. Strive hard during these nights, increase your prayers, Qur’an recitation, Dhikr, Du’a, and charity. Imagine receiving the reward of more than 83 years of worship in just one night!

May Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) grant us the blessing of witnessing Laylatul Qadr, accept our deeds, forgive our sins, and envelop us in His boundless mercy. Ameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, his noble companions, and all those who follow them with righteousness until the Day of Judgment.

Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays with the Intention of Completing the Six Days of Shawwal

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saleh al-Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"If a person fasts on Mondays and Thursdays in the month of Shawwal, intending that these days will count as the six days of Shawwal, they will receive the reward. This is because if they fast on Mondays and Thursdays, they will complete the six days before the month ends."

📚 (Fatawa Noor Ala Al-Darb, Vol. 7, p. 331).

The Virtue of Fasting the Six Days of Shawwal

In Sahih Muslim, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting in Shawwal, it will be as if they fasted the whole year."

This is because one good deed is rewarded tenfold. So fasting Ramadan is equivalent to fasting ten months, and fasting six days in Shawwal is equivalent to fasting two months. Together, this completes the year, as if one has fasted the entire year.

Allah (the Most High) says in His Noble Book:

مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

“Whoever brings a good deed will have ten times as much, and whoever brings an evil deed will be recompensed only with the like of it, and they will not be wronged.”

— Surah Al-An’am (6:160).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Indeed, Allah has recorded the good and bad deeds and made them clear. Whoever intends to do a good deed but does not act upon it, Allah records it with Him as a complete good deed. If he intends it and performs it, Allah, the Almighty, records it as ten good deeds — up to seven hundred times — or even more in abundance. And if he intends to do a bad deed but refrains from it, Allah records it as a complete good deed. But if he intends it and commits it, it is recorded as one single bad deed."

(From the hadeeth of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) Reported by Bukhari and Muslim).

When Exactly in Shawwal are These Days Fasted?

These days can be fasted in any days during the month of Shawwal, either separately throughout the month or in one go all together, excluding the day of Eid (1st Shawwal, which has already passed) because it is forbidden to fast on the day of Eid.

Abu Sa’eed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade fasting on the day of Al-Fitr and the day of An-Nahr (Eid al-Adha).

(Narrated by Bukhari in his Sahih under the chapter heading: ‘Fasting on the Day of Al-Fitr’).

And Allah knows best.

We ask Allah for His blessings, favours, bounty, acceptance, and mercy. Aameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and noble companions.

Ramadan Is Over, But the Last 3rd of the Night Remains

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Abdul-Azīz ibn Baz (رحمه الله) said:

"The last part of the night is a great time, and it is befitting for the believing man and woman to have a share of it in tahajjud (night prayer), supplication, and seeking forgiveness."

📚(Majmu al-Fatawa, 8/387).

Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) says:

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمۡ سُجَّدٗا وَقِيَٰمٗا

"And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrating and standing in prayer."

(Surah Al-Furqan, 25:64).

Narrated by Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says: 'Who is calling upon Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking Me so that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?'"

📚 Reported by Bukhari and Muslim.

We ask Allah for a share and portion of this righteousness. Aameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family, and noble companions.
