Reflect on Your State, For You Will Be Resurrected Upon the State in Which You Died Upon

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Every servant will be resurrected according to the state in which he died."

📚 Muslim, 2878.

Points to Reflect Upon:

• Dying upon Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) or Shirk (Polytheism)?
• Dying upon the Sunnah (Prophetic Way) or Bid’ah (Innovation)?
• Dying in a state of sins or obedience to Allah?

O Allah grant us a good ending out of Your Mercy. Aameen.

The Different Levels of People in Understanding the Qur’an

Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzan (may Allah preserve him) said:

"The Qur’an has clear parts that both ordinary people and those with knowledge can understand. These parts are enough to be a proof against all of creation.

It also has parts that only scholars understand, and some parts that only Allah, the Most High, knows."

The Difference Between a Prophet and a Messenger (عليه السلام)

All Messengers are Prophets, but not all Prophets are Messengers.

A Prophet (Nabi) is someone who Allah has given guidance or a Shari’ah (law) for himself. Sometimes, Allah asks the Prophet to teach it to people who already believe in the same message (of Tawheed—Islamic Monotheism).

A Messenger (Rasool) is someone who Allah has given a new Shari’ah (law) and commanded him to deliver it to people who disagree with him or oppose the message (of Tawheed—Islamic Monotheism).

The 3 Types of Bliss for a Believer

Imam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"The believer has three types of bliss that he attains due to obedience to Allah and His pleasure. Bliss in this world, bliss in the grave—which is greater than the bliss of this world, and bliss in Paradise—which is greater than the bliss of this world and the grave."

Are You Worse Than Iblees? Then Don’t Stop Making Du’a!

Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“Do not let your bad opinion of yourself or your many sins stop you from calling upon your Lord. He answered the prayer of Iblees (Shaytan) when he said, ‘My Lord, give me respite until the Day they are resurrected.’ Allah replied, ‘Indeed, you are of those given respite.’”

Think Well of Allah and Keep Making Du’a

Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The Expiation of Sins from Hardship and Discomfort

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"Nothing afflicts a Muslim, whether hardship, sickness, sadness, distress, or hurt, even a thorn that pricks him, except that Allah expiates his sins because of it."

[Sahih al-Bukhari (5641) and in Sahih Muslim (2573)—With a Similar Wording].

Imam Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said whilst discussing performing Wudu (Ablution) in the cold:

"There is no doubt that performing wudu properly in the cold is difficult on the soul and causes pain. However, anything that causes the soul hardship or discomfort serves as an expiation for sins."

It was narrated by 'Abdullah bin Busr Al-Mazini (may Allah be pleased with him), that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"The best deed is that you leave this world while your tongue is moist with the remembrance of Allah."

📚 As-Silsilah As-Sahihah (1836).

The Prophet ﷺ said:

‎"Whoever’s last words are: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ | La ilaha illa Allah | (there is none worthy of worship but Allah) will enter Jannah."

The One Who Dies Upon Shirk Vs. the Muslim Who Dies Upon Sins

Imam Ash-Shawkaani (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"There is no disagreement among the Muslims, that if a mushrik (polytheist) dies while committing shirk (associating others with Allah), he will not be forgiven in the way that Allah may forgive those who do not commit shirk, according to His will and decree. As for the Muslim sinners who do not associate others with Allah, they are under Allah’s will—He may forgive whomever He wills and punish whomever He wills."

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Imam Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Disobedience to Allah Leads to the Corruption of Affairs—May Allah be Merciful to us

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"Allah is not disobeyed with anything except that He corrupts it for its owner. Whoever disobeys Allah with his wealth, He corrupts it for him. Whoever disobeys Him with his status, He corrupts it for him. Whoever disobeys Him with his tongue, heart, or any of his limbs, He corrupts it for him, even if he does not feel its corruption."

Reaching the Month of Ramadan is a Great Blessing

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The Blessings of Righteous Companionship—Even a Dog Was Honoured!

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, said in His Book:

وَكَلْبُهُم بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِالْوَصِيدِ

“And their dog stretched out its forelegs at the entrance.” (Al-Kahf: 18).

Qadi Abu Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“My father, may Allah be pleased with him, told me that he heard Abu al-Fadl al-Jawhari in the mosque of Egypt, delivering a sermon in the year 469 AH, saying from the pulpit: ‘Whoever loves the people of goodness will attain some of their blessings. A dog loved the people of virtue and accompanied them, and Allah mentioned it in His clear Book.’”

— Ibn ‘Atiyyah, Al-Muharrar Al-Wajiz, Tafsir of Surah Al-Kahf, v. 18.

Ibn ‘Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) is also reported to have stated:

“Since even a dog attained this high status due to its companionship and association with the righteous and the friends of Allah—such that Allah, the Almighty, mentioned it in His Noble Book—then what do you think of the believing monotheists who accompany, love, and associate with the righteous and the pious?”

And what is apparent, is that this is in line with the hadeeth of our noble beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), when he said:

“The example of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of the perfume seller and the blacksmith. The perfume seller will either give you some of his perfume, or you will find a pleasant fragrance from him, while the blacksmith will either burn your clothes or you will find an unpleasant smell from him.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari).

And Allah knows best.

May Allah allow us to benefit from the blessings of the righteous and protect us from the harms of the wicked. Aameen.

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his noble companions.
