Striving in the Last 10 Nights of Ramadan & Seeking Laylatul Qadr
Jumu’ah Khutbah | Abu Ibraheem Ashraf Ali | (@SalafiPosts) | Ramadan 29.03.2024.
O Servants of Allah:
Tomorrow night we welcome some great blessed nights, and great goodness awaits every dedicated worshipper.
And happiness will be written for the one who takes advantage of them, through acts of obedience and hastening to do good deeds in them, and a great disappointment will be for the one who neglects them, and is lazy concerning them, and ignores its bounty and refuses to work in it.
Those nights are the last 10 nights of Ramadan, the best nights of the year.
There is a night in them that is better than a thousand months, in which a great reward awaits those who seek it and work in it.
On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said when the month of Ramadan began,
“Verily this month has presented itself to you. There is a night in it that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it has been deprived of all goodness, and none is deprived of its goodness except that he is truly deprived.”
[Narrated by Ibn Majah and authenticated by Imam Al-Albani].
So hasten to seek forgiveness from your Lord, and hasten to seek the means of your salvation and entry into Paradise.
And for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah).
[Surah Al-Muttaffin: Ayah 26].
O Muslims:
Our Prophet (ﷺ) the Imam of the worshipers, who was forgiven his previous and future sins, used to strive extremely diligently during these last ten nights.
He would spend his nights praying, reading the Qur’an, and remembering Allah with his heart, tongue, and his limbs. His diligence included all types of things.
Obedience to Allah and various forms of coming close to Allah, in order to seize the opportunity and get the most and best of these virtuous nights, and in pursuit of Laylat al-Qadr and the blessings it contains.
On the authority of A'isha, may Allah be pleased with her, she said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to strive in worship during Ramadan more than he strove in any other time of the year; and he would strive even more during the last ten nights of Ramadan than he strove in the earlier part of the month. (Related by Muslim).
And he (ﷺ) would prepare himself diligently and wake up his family, and encourage them to engage in good deeds during it, so they would attain Allah’s Mercy and blessings and profit greatly from the last 10 nights.
A’isha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported:
When the last ten nights of Ramadan arrived, the Prophet, (ﷺ) would tighten his belt, spend the night in worship, and awaken his family.
Related by Bukhārī and Muslim.
So these seasons of goodness are among the blessings of Allah Almighty bestowed upon His servants. Goodness increases in them, and subsequently the reward increases in them.
So whoever takes advantage of what Allah has prescribed is one of those who are successful, and whoever neglects it has missed something that he may not witness again.
The servant does not know on what night Allah may free him from the fire in this month, so take advantage of what is left of the nights.
On the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "At every breaking of the fast, Allah has people whom He frees (meaning from the fire) and that happens every night"
[Narrated by Ibn Majah and authenticated by Imam Al-Albani].
Servants of Allah:
Due to the great virtue of Laylat al-Qadr, Allah Almighty revealed a complete surah in it, in which this night was mentioned repeatedly, indicating its virtue and exalting its status, and explaining the descending of angels during it.

Due to the great virtue of Laylat al-Qadr, Allah Almighty revealed a complete surah in it, in which this night was mentioned repeatedly, indicating its virtue and exalting its status, and explaining the descending of angels during it.
Angels descend frequently on this night due to its abundance of blessings, and the angels descend with the descending of blessing and mercy, and it is a safe night from Every affliction and evil, due to its abundance of goodness.
Allah Almighty said:
Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree).
And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?
The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).
Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabrîl)] by Allâh’s Permission with all Decrees,
(All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.
[Surah al Qadr, 1-5]
And Allah also praised its virtue and noted its blessing in His saying:
We sent it (this Qur’ân) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Al-Qadr]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].
Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.
May Allah allow us to reach that night, and grant us its blessings. Aameen
Second khutbah:
All praise and thanks be to Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his companions, and all those who follow his guidance. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger who he sent as a mercy to the worlds.
O Muslims:
Whoever hopes for Allah’s forgiveness for his sins and atonement for his bad deeds, let him strive during the last ten nights of Ramadan and stand up and to pray seeking His reward.
And that means that you only seek the reward from Allah, seeking the face of Allah, standing up without hypocrisy or seeking fame.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said the prophet (ﷺ) said:
Whoever spends the night of Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.
Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.
And among the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), is asking Allah Almighty for Forgiveness during those nights, so pay attention to that, that perhaps Allah’s mercy will reach you and you will become happy in this world and the hereafter.
A’isha, (may Allah be pleased with her), asked the Prophet (ﷺ):
O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night the Night of Qadr is, what should I say in it?’
He said (ﷺ) say:
(Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa a‘fu ‘anni)
Meaning: O Allah, You are Pardoner and you love to pardon, so pardon me.
[Narrated by Ahmad, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa’i, and authenticated by Al-Albani].
So I advise you O servants of Allah - and myself, to fear Allah Almighty. For fear of Allah is the best provision for the Day of Resurrection.
And Allah concealing the Night of qadr in the last ten nights is a test and trial for the people of eemaan, so that he who is keen on obedience can seek them out, and whoever takes advantage of times of goodness and blessings emerges successful. Unlike a lazy person who has been overcome by desires and who puts his worldly life ahead of his hereafter.
Therefore the believer must take advantage of all of these nights in standing, obedience, remembrance, and all types of worship that brings him closer to Allah.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Search for Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
Reported by Ibn Khuzaymah and authenticated by Imam al Albani.

Shaykh Abdul Azeez ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him said):
"The most correct view is that it moves through all the last ten nights, but it is most likely to be on the odd-numbered nights, and the night preceding the twenty-seventh day is the most likely among the odd-numbered nights."
And he said (may Allah have mercy on him):
“Whoever strives in worship during the all of the last ten nights, offering salah, reciting Qur’an, saying du’a, and participating in other types of charitable acts, will undoubtedly catch up with laylatul-qadr and attain what Allah (exalted be He) has promised to those who do that out of faith and seeking reward."
And Sheikh al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said (may Allah have mercy on him) said,
So if the matter is like this, then the believer should seek it in all the last ten nights.
So strive, May Allah have mercy on you and guide you to goodness, and hasten to this virtue and goodness, for you do not know, perhaps you will not reach another Ramadan.

A believer should strive sincerely in the Last Ten Nights of Ramadān, and ponder over how quickly the month has passed―and likewise, his life will pass quickly―then he shall meet his Lord, and have to answer.
Allāh said about the loser, “He will say, ‘Alas! If only I had sent forth good deeds for my life!’ So, on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. And none will bind [the wrongdoer] as He will bind.” (Al-Fajr: 24-26)
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr with imān and hoping for reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Al-Bukhāri)
And he (ﷺ) said: “There are those in the month of Ramadan in every day and every night whom Allah grants freedom from the Fire – and there is a supplication for every Muslim which will be granted.” (Al-Bazzār, Ahmad, Ibn Mājah).

Tawheed Is The Key To Paradise
Translated
By
Abbas Abu Yahya
Shamsuddeen Muhammad Bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawzeeyah [D. 751 A.H.] Rahimahullaah said:
'Allaah Azza wa Jal on the day of Judgement will regard oppression in three categories:
A category which Allaah will not forgive anything of, is committing Shirk with Allaah (associating anything with Allaah). Indeed Allaah does not forgive that Shirk is committed with Him.
Another category which Allaah will not leave anything of, is where the worshippers oppress each other, indeed Allaah Ta'ala will do justice fully.
Also a category which Allaah does not regard as significant is when a worshipper oppresses his own self, and this is between himself and his Lord Azza wa Jal.
This category is the least from them and the quickest to be erased. It is erased with repentance and seeking forgiveness. Good deeds erase, calamities expiate, etc.
This is in contrast to the category of Shirk, since it cannot be erased except with Tawheed.
And the category of wrong doings cannot be erased except by going back to that person whom you oppressed and clearing yourself from the oppression.
Since Shirk is the worst of the three aspects to Allaah then He has prohibited Paradise for the people of Shirk.
So the Mushrik will not enter Paradise, rather only the people of Tawheed will enter it, because Tawheed is the key to its door.
So whoever does not have with him a key, then its door does not open and likewise if one comes with a key which has no teeth then the door will not open.❞
[Al-Wabbil As-Sayyib P.19]

Beauty and Ugliness

《On the Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) when some faces will become white and some faces will become black; as for those whose faces will become black (to them will be said): "Did you reject Faith after accepting it? Then taste the torment (in Hell) for rejecting Faith."》
[Surah Āli-ʿImrān: 106]
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawzeeyah as-Salafi -Rahimahullaah- said:
'Know that beauty is divided into two types:
Outward and inward.
Inward beauty is loved for itself, it is the beauty of knowledge, intelligence, generosity, modesty and integrity, and bravery.
This inward beauty is what Allaah looks at from His slave and it is the object of what Allaah loves about him, as is mentioned in the authentic Hadeeth:
‘Indeed Allaah does not look at your forms and your wealth, however, He looks at your hearts and your actions.’
[Saheeh Muslim]
This inward beauty beautifies the outward form, even if that person does not possess beauty.
So a person is adorned with beauty, dignity and sweetness according to what his soul adorns itself of those attributes.
A Believer is given dignity and sweetness in comparison to his Eemaan.
Whoever sees him, shows him dignity and whoever interacts with him loves him, and this is a matter which is well-known and witnessed to.'

Question: Noble Shaykh, may Allah grant you success. I forgot the prescribed remembrance after the prayer. More than half an hour passed by, then I remembered. Can I say them at this point?
Shaykh Fawzan: Yes. As long as the time remains. As long as the time (for that prayer) remains then you can say them.
