Abu Layla al-Athari wrote:

'In 1405 AH on a journey to the lands of Hijaaz (Makkah & Madinah) in which I accompanied Shaykh Al-Albaani and his wife the respected Umm Fadl, all in one car. When we reached Makkah al-Mukkarama, we stopped as guests of one of the Shaykh's friends, he was well known with the name Abu Arab.

During the gathering there was a discussion and debate between the Shaykh and one of the staunch followers of Alawi al-Maliki regarding the Prophet's birthday.

After the discussion had ended, Abu Arab invited the shaykh to go to Bangladesh for a period of three days.

This was under the auspices of  the Ahl ul Hadeeth over there, and their numbers had reached into the millions. This was to invite them to Tawheed. However, the Shaykh excused himself saying, I cannot attend.
Then he repeated the invitation a second time to attend for a period of two days except that the Shaykh excused himself a second time saying, I cannot attend.

He repeated the invitation a third time to attend for just one day, but the Shaykh
excused himself a third time.
When we returned to the house of the Shaykh's brother in law, who lived on the outskirts of Makkah, we wanted to take a little rest.  So me and the shaykh moved a table which was in the middle of the room and I brought a pillow for us.  The Shaykh placed his head on one end and I placed my head on the opposite side.

Then I got an opportunity to ask a question which had been burning and confusing my heart.  I asked, O Shaykh, why did you refuse to go? He said: indeed I fear a fitnah (tribulations) for my self.'

سال 1405 ہجری میں، میں شیخ (الألباني) رحمہ اللہ اور ان کی اہلیہ محترمہ ام الفضل کے ہمراہ ایک ہی گاڑی میں سوار حجاز کے سفر پر گیا۔ جب ہم مکہ مکرمہ پہنچے تو ہم شیخ کے ایک  ابو عرب نامی دوست کی ضیافت میں ٹھہرے۔ ایک مجلس میں شیخ اور علوی مالکی کے ایک مرید کے درمیان میلاد النبی کے بارے میں بحث ہوئی۔ بحث کے بعد، ابو عرب نے شیخ کو ۳ دن بنگلہ دیش جانے کی دعوت دی تاکہ وہ وہاں کے اہل حدیث (جن کی تعداد لاکھوں میں ہے) کو توحید کی دعوت دیں۔ شیخ نے معذرت کرتے ہوئے کہا، "میں نہیں جا سکتا۔" ابو عرب نے دوبارہ دو دنوں کے لیے دعوت دی، لیکن شیخ نے دوبارہ "میں نہیں جا سکتا" کہہ کر  معذرت کر دی۔ پھر ابو عرب نے تیسری بار ایک دن کے لیے دعوت دی، لیکن شیخ نے تیسری بار بھی معذرت کر دی۔

جب ہم شیخ کے داماد کے گھر واپس آئے، جو مکہ کے ایک نواحی علاقے میں واقع ہے، تو ہم نے تھوڑا آرام کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔ میں اور شیخ نے ایک میز کو اٹھایا جو کمرے کے درمیان میں تھی، اور ہمارے لئے ایک تکیہ لایا گیا۔ شیخ نے اس پر اپنا سر ایک طرف رکھا اور میں نے اپنا سر دوسری طرف رکھا۔ اسی وقت میں نے وہ سوال پوچھا جو میرے دل میں گھوم رہا تھا، تو میںنےکہا: " شیخ، آپ نے جانے سے انکار کیوں کیا؟"، شیخ نے کہا، "مجھے اپنے آپ پر فتنے کا خدشہ ہے۔"

اللہ تعالیٰ ہمارے شیخِ کبیر پر رحم فرمائے اور ہمیں اور انہیں اپنے صالح بندوں میں شامل فرمائے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں اپنے پاس سے عزت و اکرام عطا فرمائے اور ان کے گھر کو ایک بہتر گھر اور ان کے اہل کو ایک بہتر اہل سے بدل دے۔

اور ہمارے نبی محمد ﷺ اور ان کی آل اور تمام صحابہ کرام پر درود و سلام ہو۔
