Shaykhul Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (Allāh have mercy upon him) said:

"Bid'ah (innovations) are more beloved to iblīs than sins. Because the sinner knows he's a sinner so he'll repent. But the innovator deems what he's doing is obedience, so he won't repent."
