The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The best fasts after Ramadaan are in the month of Allah: al-Muharram.”

Reported by Muslim. Translated by Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Wahid Alam.

And the Prophet (ﷺ) also said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Ashura’* I hope Allah will expiate (sins) thereby for the year that came before it.”

Reported by Muslim. Translated by Rasheed ibn Estes Barbee.

*The day of ‘Ashura is the 10th Muharram.

Therefore, the Day of ‘Ashura (10th Muharram 1443) shall correspond to: Thursday 19th August 2021 insha’-Allah.

Concise summary of dates:

The day before the Day of ‘Ashura (9th Muharram 1443): Wednesday 18th August 2021.

The Day of ‘Ashura (10th Muharram 1443): Thursday 19th August 2021.

The day after the Day of ‘Ashura (11th Muharram 1443): Friday 20th August 2021.
