Appeal for a brother in need

As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatu

We hope this message reaches you in the best of health and Eeman.

We are raising funds for a Salafi brother and his family who are in dire need after suffering from a job loss due to an accident which has led him to be out of work for a few months. Due to this, the family has been behind on rent and other expenses.

This brother and his family is known to some of the ustaadhs such as Ustadh Saeed Rhana who’s aware of the brother’s situation.

Firstly, we ask Allaah to aid him.

A word for those who suffice with listening online to lectures and duroos

Confine yourself for Allah -glorified and exalted be He- when performing an act of worship.

In gatherings of knowledge, confine yourself to them, when reciting Quran, when performing your obligatory and voluntary prayers, when listening to sermons, in all your acts of worship…

…during the time of your tasbeeh, tahleel or istighfaar, do not get distracted, for your desires need to be fought o brothers.

Some say, we have social media now, and so it is possible for a person to listen to duroos and lectures online, and no doubt this is from the affairs that Allah -glorified and exalted be He- has facilitated for us

But it rarely so happens that a person listens to the dars if he didn’t attend it, and this is because of distraction when listening online.

And is the reward for the one who struggled and attended, and took on the burden to attend, the same as for the one who just listened online? No, never.

And so, do not let these social media applications be the reason for your deprivation of many rewards.

The angels surround such gatherings of knowledge, and mercy engulfs those who attend them, and the one who attends them is attending gatherings of Allah’s remembrance and is sitting in a house of Allah’s, and most of those who attend such gatherings do not become distracted.

On the other hand, if a person were to stay in his house, then he becomes preoccupied, and maybe he gets preoccupied with making something, maybe he answers his calls, or maybe he goes out and makes himself a cup of tea and makes himself food…

And through all this he is listening to the dars, and Allah says: “Allah has not put for any man two hearts inside his body”, and so you cannot be with the dars and with other than the dars at the same time.

I mean a woman might be excused, or someone who is not able to attend, but it is upon a person to fight his desires, because the Jannah, o brothers, is surrounded by what? By affairs unlikable to one's self, and these affairs necessitate fighting one’s desires.

And so, he who desires the rewards and desires to discipline himself, not just the reward, rather learning patience and disciplining himself too, obeying and practicing Sunnah, and learning and practicing that which is mentioned of mannerisms in gatherings of knowledge…

Then he undoubtedly must fight his desires to attend and be present.

Do not let these applications become a reason for being deprived of rewards, rather they should be used when that which is better than them is not possible

But if that which is better than them is possible and is facilitated, such as attending those gatherings of knowledge and being present, then no doubt that is better and more complete, and it is what a Muslim should strive for.
