I will always remember the day I received an email in 2019 informing me that I had been awarded a scholarship by Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).
"I was homeless before and people helped me. So I want to give back and to do something for them." - Roslina Toh
When Malaysia closed its borders to control the spread of COVID-19 last March, our Social Work undergraduate Roslina knew she had to step in to do something. Leading a team of about 200 volunteers from various churches, they spent almost every night looking for people who were stranded and sleeping rough, to help them get a temporary roof over their heads.

Prof Tsui has played an instrumental role in transforming us from UniSIM (SIM University) into SUSS. Today, we are recognised as a pioneer of the applied learning pathway in Singaporeβs higher education landscape, focusing on the social sciences and upgrading for adult learners.

Rayner Loi, SUSS Finance student, believes that individual action is important to tackle the problem of food waste π.
Setting his sights higher, he founded Lumitics, a company that tracks food waste on a commercial scale, aimed at helping hotels and airlines figure out how much avoidable waste they are generating π.
Operating since 2017, Lumitics has successfully reduced food wastage, keeping more than 300,000 meals out of landfills in 2019.

ββFrom a University reject to the founder of an Edtech startup that makes learning accessible to children around the world, this is the journey of Edwin Ho Yuan Yi, 29, Bachelor of Science in Finance graduate.
For over five years, Edwin had applied to various universities but was rejected multiple times until he was accepted by SUSS in 2017. Empathising with those who face similar challenges in their road to education, Edwin conceived the idea of enabling learning for students in areas with poor connectivity, allowing them to cope with academic demands during the pandemic π·.
He is currently piloting their product with NGOs and schools in South Africa, Kenya and Thailand. His brainchild has earned him the StartupSG Founder Grant of S$50,000 and he has since launched several social initiatives for underprivileged children.

More than 94% of our full-time graduates from the Class of 2021 secured employment within six months of completing their final examinations! This shows a continued strong demand for SUSS graduates despite the COVID-19 pandemic. ππ»
Our full-time Accountancy and Supply Chain Management graduates continue to be in high demand with an overall employment of 98.6% and 97.4% respectively among those who entered the labour force in 2021! π
