Gold Falls 2% as Markets Focus on Iran Developments

Gold prices extended losses on Wednesday, with the precious metal dropping 2% as investors closely monitored developments between the United States and Iran amid hopes for a potential agreement.
Tensions appeared to ease after Washington denied reports about restarting “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iranian officials confirmed that indirect negotiations between the two countries are ongoing.
Gold fell 2.09% at 9:11 a.m. ET to trade at $4,413.19 per ounce. Meanwhile, silver declined 3.20% to $74.34 per ounce.

تقول الكويت إنها تقوم باعتراض هجمات صاروخية وطائرات مسيرة، في ظل تصاعد التوتر في منطقة الخليج ورفع مستوى الجاهزية الأمنية في عدة دول.

فرضت الولايات المتحدة عقوبات على كيان إيراني مرتبط بالحرس الثوري، وقالت إنه أُنشئ لإدارة حركة العبور في مضيق هرمز، محذرة من أن التعاون معه قد يعرض الأفراد والشركات للعقوبات.

تقول إيران إن الولايات المتحدة استهدفت منطقة قرب بندر عباس، مشيرة إلى عدم وقوع خسائر كبيرة، وأن الهجوم جاء بعد حادث بحري بين قوات إيرانية وسفينة مرتبطة بأمريكا في مضيق هرمز.

حذر الحرس الثوري الإيراني من أن أي هجمات أمريكية إضافية ستقابل برد أشد حزماً، وذلك بعد تقارير عن ضربات أمريكية لموقع عسكري في جنوب إيران واعتراض طائرات مسيرة.

أعلن دونالد ترامب دعمه لرئيس وزراء أرمينيا نيكول باشينيان قبل الانتخابات البرلمانية، وأشاد بمشروع ممر نقل في جنوب القوقاز يرى أنه يخدم المصالح الاقتصادية الأمريكية.

كما حذر ترامب من أن الولايات المتحدة سترد بقوة إذا حاولت عُمان السيطرة على مضيق هرمز، مما يزيد من مخاوف التصعيد في أحد أهم الممرات البحرية في العالم.

Kuwait says it is intercepting missile and drone attacks. The report comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, with several countries on high security alert.

The United States has sanctioned an Iranian entity linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, saying it was created to manage maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Washington warns that cooperation with it could expose individuals and companies to sanctions.

Iran says the United States struck an area near Bandar Abbas. Iranian media report no major casualties or damage, but say the strike followed a naval incident involving a US-linked tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that any further US attacks would face a more decisive response. The warning follows reports of US strikes on a military site in southern Iran and the interception of drones.

Donald Trump has endorsed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan ahead of parliamentary elections, supporting a regional transit corridor project in the South Caucasus that he says would benefit US economic interests.

Trump also warned that the United States would respond strongly if Oman attempted to take control of the Strait of Hormuz, raising further concerns about escalation in one of the world’s most critical shipping routes.
