ZEW: German economic sentiment slumps in April

The Economic Sentiment Indicator in Germany tumbled in April to stand at negative 17.2 points, down 16.7 points compared to the previous month, a survey conducted by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) showed on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the current situation index in Germany worsened by 10.8 points on a monthly basis to land at negative 73.7 points in April.The economic sentiment indicator for the euro area worsened by 11.9 points to stand at negative 20.4 points, while the indicator for the current economic situation in the Eurozone dropped 16.3 points to negative 29.9 points.

تقرير ADP: ارتفاع التوظيف الأسبوعي في الولايات المتحدة

أفاد تقرير أولي صادر عن شركة Automatic Data Processing (ADP) يوم الثلاثاء أن الاقتصاد الأمريكي أضاف في المتوسط 54,750 وظيفة أسبوعيًا خلال الأسابيع الأربعة المنتهية في 4 أبريل.

ويمثل هذا الرقم ارتفاعًا مقارنة بمتوسط الزيادة الأسبوعية في الأسبوع السابق، والذي بلغ 39,250 وظيفة.

كما أظهر التقرير الشهري زيادة قدرها 62,000 وظيفة في شهر مارس مقارنة بالشهر الذي سبقه.

US retail sales up by 1.7% in March

Retail and food services sales in the United States increased by 1.7% in March compared to last month's figures, landing at $752.1 billion, the US Census Bureau revealed in its report published on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the March figure increased by 4% compared with the corresponding month in 2025.Total sales for the January to March period were up by 3.7% year-on-year. Nonstore retailers rose by 10.1% compared to last year, while the food service and drinking places increased by 2.4% year-on-year.

ارتفاع مبيعات التجزئة في الولايات المتحدة خلال مارس

أعلن US Census Bureau أن مبيعات التجزئة وخدمات الطعام في الولايات المتحدة ارتفعت بنسبة 1.7% في شهر مارس مقارنة بالشهر السابق، لتصل إلى 752.1 مليار دولار.

كما أظهرت البيانات أن الرقم ارتفع بنسبة 4% مقارنة بنفس الشهر من عام 2025.

وبشكل عام، زادت المبيعات الإجمالية خلال الفترة من يناير إلى مارس بنسبة 3.7% على أساس سنوي.

في التفاصيل، ارتفعت مبيعات تجار التجزئة عبر الإنترنت بنسبة 10.1% مقارنة بالعام الماضي، بينما سجل قطاع خدمات الطعام والمشروبات زيادة سنوية قدرها 2.4%.

UK inflation up from 3% to 3.3% in March


The annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom stood at 3.3% in March, rising from 3% registered in January and February, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed in its report published on Wednesday. Month-on-month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 0.7%.The document attributed the rise in the overall rate to the prices of transport, principally motor fuels, a consequence of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. They rose by 4.7% compared to March 2025 and 2.4% from the previous month. Those were followed by the prices of housing and household services, and, to a lesser extent, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and recreation and culture.The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) increased by 3.4% on an annual basis and 0.6% on a monthly one. CPI, excluding energy and food, grew by 3.1% year-on-year, while month-on-month, it decreased slightly from February's 3.2%.

بلغ معدل التضخم السنوي في المملكة المتحدة 3.3٪ في شهر مارس، مرتفعًا من 3٪ المسجلة في شهري يناير وفبراير، وذلك بحسب ما أعلن مكتب الإحصاءات الوطنية في تقرير صدر يوم الأربعاء.

وعلى أساس شهري، ارتفع مؤشر أسعار المستهلك بنسبة 0.7٪.

وأوضح التقرير أن الزيادة في معدل التضخم تعود بشكل رئيسي إلى ارتفاع أسعار النقل، وخاصة وقود السيارات، نتيجة التوترات المستمرة في الشرق الأوسط. حيث ارتفعت هذه الأسعار بنسبة 4.7٪ مقارنةً بشهر مارس من العام الماضي، وبنسبة 2.4٪ مقارنةً بالشهر السابق.

كما ساهمت أسعار السكن والخدمات المنزلية في هذا الارتفاع، تليها بدرجة أقل أسعار المواد الغذائية والمشروبات غير الكحولية، بالإضافة إلى الترفيه والثقافة.

وارتفع مؤشر أسعار المستهلكين شاملاً تكاليف السكن للمالكين (CPIH) بنسبة 3.4٪ على أساس سنوي، و0.6٪ على أساس شهري.

أما التضخم الأساسي (باستثناء الطاقة والمواد الغذائية)، فقد سجل ارتفاعًا بنسبة 3.1٪ على أساس سنوي، بينما تراجع بشكل طفيف على أساس شهري مقارنة بنسبة 3.2٪ في فبراير.
