We have received several reports of missing sneakers, and upon closer investigation we have determined that the 'missing sneakers' were actually stolen from said accounts.
The process seems to be this:
a. Scammer gets access to account A.
b. Scammer sells all assets in account A via the marketplace until all that remains are tokens, e.g. 10 ETH.
c. Scammer uses his alt account B to sell one single gem, worth 10 ETH, in the marketplace.
d. Scammer then goes back to account A, and purchases that 10 ETH gem.
RESULT: Money is transferred from account A to account B without ever touching the STEPN account's wallet setup.
Hence the most common/telltale sign is that the compromised account has nothing left but a single gem.
We have verified that the STEPN app and marketplace have no vulnerabilities. However, the opening of the new realm has introduced STEPN to a lot of new users, who are most likely new to crypto and have little knowledge of basic crypto safety.
For account owners, we recommend that all players follow these steps:
🔹Make sure that your STEPN password is unique and not used in any other website. Better yet, use the Verification login (uses Verification code) instead of Account login (uses a password).
🔹Enable 2FA on your STEPN account. Hackers can't log in without your 2FA code, and 2FA code will be asked for each buying/selling transaction in the marketplace. The only way 2FA can be defeated is if the player gives their 2FA codes to the hacker, or if the 2FA is disabled.
🔹 Do not entertain offers of help via DM, in any social media channel, whether Discord, Facebook, Reddit, or Twitter. Moderator team members will NEVER DM YOU.
🔹 Do not give away your account codes. The only one who should know your seed phrase/wallet passcodes/verification codes/2FA codes is YOU.

The exploit that was detected previously seems to have continued despite the increase in transaction fees.
The malicious activities are impacting the normal users as they increase the load and congest the transactions.
