Government Debt-to-GDP Ratio compares a country's total government debt with the value of everything its economy produces in a year (GDP). A ratio of 100% means the government's debt equals one year's economic output.
#STATSed@pratham_in
India's government debt stands at 83.36% of GDP, placing it 40th globally in the IMF's latest rankings. In simple terms, if India's entire annual GDP could theoretically be used only to repay government debt, it would take about 83% of one year's economic output to clear it. In reality, countries do not use all of their GDP to repay debt, this ratio is a measure of the size of the debt burden, not a repayment plan.
