Hello!I wish every one a happy world anesthesia day.
We are celebrating this event on this coming Thursday  with great enthusiasm and pleasure. This day commemorates how anesthesiology has evolved as a medical practice and discipline through the years starting from use of ether as inhaler to the artificial intelligence supported anesthesia practice we  now have. This all happened with contributions of great Anesthesiologists/ anesthesia practioners and technological advancements and break throughs that has been integrated to the field.
This year's them is "Anesthesia in Health Emergencies " which will amplify our role in emergency and critical situations where our pivotal role is essential especially in airway management, advanced cardiac life support, resuscitation and patient monitoring.
As we are celebrating the world Anesthesia day with this theme it  should be with the remainder how we have saved so many lives with our out standing and brave work at emergency and critical services.
So as James Allen once qouted "Circumstances don't make the man but they reveal him".
Let's all of us reveal our inner "anesthesia heroic " and calamnes in emergencies and be an ambassador.

Dr Abel Girma
(Head of Department of Anesthesiology, critical care and Pain Medicine at Jigjiga University)
On World Anesthesia Day today, I am privileged to mark a career committed to the relief of pain, the nourishment of life, and the protection of the most vulnerable—our children.
As a pediatric anesthesiologist, I witness each day the strength of tiny hearts and the trust of families who place their children in our hands. With every surgery, there is an unspoken oath that we make: safety, comfort, and gentle watchfulness from first breath to full recovery.

Pediatric anesthesia is not medicine—it's:
Advocacy for the voiceless, Safety for those unable to defend themselves,
And precision in the millimeter and milligram details.

I celebrate today:
The teamwork of stakeholders.
❤️ The little ones who inspire us with their bravery.
The parents who have faith in us at their most terrorized moment.

Let us keep going forward safe anesthesia practice, educate upcoming practitioners, and ensure that every child—no matter where he or she is born—receives safe, quality anesthesia care.

Safe anesthesia for all children.
Comfort. Courage. Care.

Happy World Anesthesia Day!

World Anesthesia Day
Saluting our dedicated SPHMMC anesthesia team —
for their precision, calm vigilance, and compassionate care behind every successful surgery.
Hellow my name is Dr sisay an anesthesiologist working in assosa, benishangul gumuz region for the past 1 &1/2 year. Over 2000 patients were operated last year and I was involved in the perioperative care of this patients.there were many critical patients operated successfully with zero intraop incident and death. successfully managed neonates with difficult airway like the one below

I wish you all anesthesiologist, anesthesia provideders and the whole medical community happy worlds anesthesia day.
As we celebrate World Anesthesia Day, I am reminded of the profound impact our work has on the lives of countless patients. Anesthesia is often called the "magic" behind the scenes. It lets surgeries happen safely and without pain. Every day, we enter the operating room with knowledge, skill, and compassion, prepared to help our patients through one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

In the sterile environment filled with the sounds of medical equipment, we serve as the guardians of comfort and safety. Our role goes beyond just giving anesthesia. We advocate for our patients, making sure they feel secure and cared for during their procedures. It’s a great honor to be trusted with their well-being. This responsibility motivates us to keep improving our skills and to embrace new ideas in our field.

On this day, let's celebrate not only the science of anesthesia but also the art involved in our work. Every successful surgery shows the teamwork and dedication of the whole surgical team, and we play a key part in that success. Together, we create a symphony of care, where each note leads to a good outcome. As we think about our contributions, let’s stay inspired to push the boundaries of what is possible, ensuring that every patient receives the best care. Happy World Anesthesia Day!Dr.Samrawit Tasew
Assistant professor of Anesthesiology, Critical care, and pain medicine (SPHMMC)
Good [morning/afternoon] everyone.
Let’s My Warm and heart full greetings reach’s to distinguished guests, respected
colleagues, healthcare professionals, societies and students. Today we commemorate World
Anaesthesiology Day, marking the first successful use of ether anaesthesia on October 16,
1846—a turning point in medical history.
This day honours the pioneers of anaesthesia and recognizes the critical role of
anaesthesiologists in modern healthcare. It also gives us the opportunity to reflect on how
anaesthesiology continues to evolve—especially in the face of emergencies and crises.
When we celebrate world anaesthesiology day on the Theme Focus: "Anaesthesiology in Health
Emergencies", it should be by recognizing Anaesthesiology for their roles:
Anaesthesiologists are frontline responders in mass casualties, pandemics, natural
disasters, trauma care, and critical care emergencies.
Their expertise extends beyond the operating room—to ICUs, emergency rooms, field
hospitals, and aeromedical evacuations.
Anaesthesiologists are key profession during pandemics and public health emergencies like
COVID-19 pandemic by managing airways, ventilators, and ICU sedation, supporting triage
and critical decision-making, and ensuring infection control and safe intubation protocols
Anaesthesiology plays critical role in health emergency through innovation of portable
anaesthesia equipment, developing protocols for field and remote anaesthesia and
simulation-based emergency training
Beyond direct patient care, anaesthesiologists in emergency situations also have a variety of
administrative and educational roles like trauma team leadership, pre-hospital care, and
emergency preparedness.
Anaesthesiologists work long hours under immense pressure, often behind the scenes. So
today, I would like to recognize their resilience, dedication, and silent heroism in saving
lives during health crises.
In my conclusion
On this World Anaesthesiology Day, let’s celebrate the contributions of anaesthesiologists
not just in the OR—but in every emergency where stability, clarity, and skilled hands are
needed most.
Together, we strive for a world where safe anaesthesia is accessible, even in the most
unpredictable moments.
"In every emergency, behind every stabilized patient, stands an
anaesthesiologist."
Dr. Zemed Geleta, MD, Ass’t. Prof. of Anaesthesiology critical
Care and Pain medicine, Chief Clinical Director of DBU Hospital
Team Heart Explores Collaboration with SPHMMC

Team Heart, a U.S.-based charitable organization known for advancing cardiac surgery in Africa—especially in Rwanda—visited St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) to explore possible collaboration in cardiac care and training.
The delegation was led by Dr. Martin Zammert, Lead of Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care for Team Heart and Chair of Surgical Critical Care at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Boston, USA.
Dr. Martin met with Dr. Muluken Tesfaye, Provost of SPHMMC; Mr. Jemal Shifa, Vice Provost for Business and Development; and Dr. Berhanu, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Unit.
The discussion focused on partnership opportunities in cardiac surgery, fellowship training, and capacity building to strengthen local expertise. After touring the hospital, Dr. Martin praised SPHMMC’s commitment to expanding cardiac services and training.
He also shared that he would present his findings to the Team Heart Board to consider signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic collaboration.
This visit marks a promising step toward improving access to advanced cardiac care in Ethiopia
