In a top-level visit that reaffirms the nation's dedication to improving specialized care, today H.E. Girma Biru, Economic Advisor to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, made a visit to St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC).
Accompanying him were H.E. Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance; H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health; State Ministers Dr. Dereje Duguma, Seherela Abedella, and Frehiwot Abebe.
The visitors visited the soon-to-be-opened Centers of Excellence in Cardiac Care, Oncology, and Organ Transplantation—sneak peeks at the state-of-the-art facilities that promise to transform access to high-quality medical care in Ethiopia.
SPHMMC Provost Dr. Muluken Tesfaye and vice provosts and senior experts took the officials on a tour of the centers' progress and future promise. H.E. Girma Biru stressed the importance of completing construction and putting the facilities into operation, stressing their key role in providing services to Ethiopian citizens.
He also commended the college administration for its initiative to organize such pioneering projects.
In attendance during the visit as well were Vice Provosts Dr. Lemi Belay, Mr. Jemal Shifa, and Dr. Ewnet Gebrehanna.

Professor Senayt Fisseha, Vice President for Global Programs at the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, held a high-level discussion with Minister of health and the leadership of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) to strengthen collaboration in advancing the institution’s newly established Centers of Excellence.
The meeting was attended by Professor Senayt, H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health, along with State Ministers of Health HE Frehiwot Abebe and HE Saharela Abdulahi. Representing SPHMMC leadership, Dr. Muluken Tesfaye, Provost, participated together with Vice Provosts Dr. Lemi Belay, Dr. Jemal Shifa, and Dr. Ewnet Gebre Hana.
Discussions focused on the development of the new Cardiac Care, Oncology, Organ Transplant, and ENT Centers, with a shared vision of elevating them to international standards. The collaboration aims to transform these centers into leading hubs for advanced care and specialized training in Ethiopia, enabling citizens to access life-saving treatments without leaving the country.
