"we talk a lot of about changing the prison system, but the system is working for the people it benefits, the people who designed it, specifically white people. Angela Davis in her book “are prisons obsolete” says,
“Prisons do not disappear social problems, they disappear human beings. Homelessness, unemployment, drug addiction, mental illness, and illiteracy are only a few of the problems that disappear from public view when the human beings contending with them are relegated to cages”. The answer is not more cages, the answer is abolition."
