Tonight when the clock strikes 00:00, SOMP will turn a 5 years old organisation.
In the last 5 years with the help of SOMP, many young civil services aspirants were able to achieve their dream of becoming a Civil servant.
In this journey of 5 years we have seen both the sides- immense happiness of the aspirants and sheer disappointment.
We have seen aspirants with average talent getting into IAS.
And some aspirants with immense potential failing to see their Mains Admit card.
If I have to summarise the way to succeed then I would say that after having an average talent, consistency matters more than anything else.
Believing in oneself matters the most than trying to find validation from outside.
And lastly that madness to achieve what you want matters the most than being a weak sane person.
We would like to thank you for trusting SOMP.😊

A Tale of Two Aspirants - P and O
Both P and O hailed from similar backgrounds, had a similar education. Both wanted to become Civil servants. With almost equal talents, only discipline and hardwork (and of course, some luck) could be the differentiating factor.
However, both were disciplined and hardworking, putting almost the same efforts in preparation.
With time, P seemed to get ahead. He had more knowledge about the subjects and also about the UPSC industry. He exactly knew the INs and OUTs of different coachings. The funny thing was many new aspirants gathered around P to listen to his 'Coaching gyaan'.
Prelims arrived.
P was the clear favorite as the one who would qualify for Mains. No one even expected O to clear. Both P and O were confident on the exam day and after the exam. Fortunately, both qualified for Mains.
The positive results reinforced the confidence in both of them regarding their strategies. After Prelims, same thing started happening. P was again emerging as the clear favorite. More knowledge, more access to everything.
O and his strategy was a mystery. At times he didn't know many things which the fellow aspirants were discussing.
P could be seen in the institutes, in the notes and the Xerox shops quite often. O wasnt very visible.
The time of Mains arrived. Both appeared. Both were confident ( O bit less). Results arrived.
To the surprise of everyone, O qualified for interview. P didnt. O was somewhat surprised and P was dejected.
When O was asked the reason for his reaction - he said, 'I felt I had not studied as much as others had'.
When asked about his coverage, he said he had read all subjects from one good source, made notes and revised them 3-4 times. And then he had done decent answer writing and improved according to this strategy. This approach he had followed for GS, Essay and Optional.
P wasnt ready to admit he did anything wrong. Out of boasting and release of frustration, he started blaming the exam itself.
P said - ' What's the point of not qualifying even after studying everything and not leaving anything. I covered almost each good source available in the market. I had read almost all the mock test solutions.
P, when asked about the content consolidation and answer writing, had no answer. He started defending -' If I have the content, Ill be able to write. This is what I thought. And I was able to write'. P was either unaware or denying his mistakes.
P's real name was perfection.
O's real name was Optimum.

Another thing which I discussed,might help someone who is in the middle of a crisis.
We think that God will reward us a success because we are suffering.
But let me tell you honestly that the things doesn't work this way.
If you are in a crisis then your beloved God will make your life hell for a longer time. And these are your Testing Times.
Either you fight to achieve what you want or become a victim forever.
And success in the Civil Services exam has nothing to do with your personal crisis or suffering But how you keep yourself on the path of preparation irrespective of what you are facing.
We think that God will reward us a success because we are suffering.
But let me tell you honestly that the things doesn't work this way.
If you are in a crisis then your beloved God will make your life hell for a longer time. And these are your Testing Times.
Either you fight to achieve what you want or become a victim forever.
And success in the Civil Services exam has nothing to do with your personal crisis or suffering But how you keep yourself on the path of preparation irrespective of what you are facing.
