בדרום לבנון — הושמד!

הודעה משותפת של ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו ושר הביטחון ישראל כ״ץ:

בהתאם להנחיית ראש הממשלה ושר הביטחון, צה״ל השמיד כעת את התשתית התת־קרקעית של ארגון הטרור חיזבאללה ברכס עלי א־טאהר, ובכך השלים את ביסוס מרחב הביטחון בדרום לבנון.
מדובר בתשתית טרור אסטרטגית שנבנתה במשך שני עשורים, במימון ובתכנון איראני. תשתית הטרור ומרכז הפיקוד ברכס נועדו לשמש בסיס לכיבוש הגליל ולאפשר תצפית ושליטה באש לעבר מטולה וקריית שמונה. השמדתה משלימה את השגת השליטה המבצעית ברכס עלי א־טאהר — מעל ומתחת לפני הקרקע.

המערך הזה נבנה במשך שני עשורים, במימון ובהכוונת משטר הטרור האיראני. בחודשים האחרונים כוחותינו כיתרו את המרחב והגבירו את הלחץ על הצירים ועל המחבלים שהתבצרו בתוכו. כל המחבלים שהיו בתשתית חוסלו או נמלטו. למרות הצהרת חיזבאללה כי יגן על התשתית בכל מחיר, הוא נכשל ואף הפקיר את אנשיו למות בתוכה.
לצד ההישגים והשלמת המשימה, הלחימה גבתה מאיתנו מחיר כבד. לוחמינו, טובי בנינו, מלח הארץ, נפלו בקרבות לכיבוש וטיהור ההר. השלמנו את המשימה, וההישגים האלה הם בראש ובראשונה עבורם. נמשיך להגן על יישובי הצפון ולפעול להסרת כל איום על אזרחינו ועל כוחותינו. כפי שפעלנו כאן, כך נמשיך לפעול לאורך כל הגבולות.

Joint Statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Israel Katz:

Following the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, the Israel Defense Forces have now destroyed the underground infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Ali al-Taher mountain range, thereby completing the establishment of a security zone in southern Lebanon.

This is a strategic terrorist infrastructure that was built over two decades, funded and planned by Iran. The terrorist infrastructure and command center in the mountain range were intended to serve as a base for the conquest of the Galilee and to provide observation and fire control over Metulla and Kiryat Shmona. Its destruction completes the achievement of operational control over the Ali al-Taher mountain range, both above and below ground.

This network was built over two decades, funded and directed by the Iranian terrorist regime. In recent months, our forces have encircled the area and increased pressure on the routes and on the terrorists who were entrenched within. All the terrorists who were in the infrastructure have been eliminated or have fled. Despite Hezbollah's declaration that it would defend the infrastructure at all costs, it failed and even abandoned its people to die inside.

Alongside the achievements and the completion of the mission, the fighting has taken a heavy toll on us. Our soldiers, the best of our sons, the salt of the earth, fell in the battles to capture and clear the mountain. We have completed the mission, and these achievements are primarily for them. We will continue to protect the settlements in the north and work to remove any threat to our citizens and our forces. Just as we acted here, we will continue to operate along all the borders.
