Houthi forces have landed on Mayun Island (Perim Island), known as the ‘Pearl of Bab Al-Mandab’

It sits right between Yemen and Djibouti on the narrowest part of the Strait. The Island houses an Emirati airbase (non-operational) and was rumored to have an Israeli presence.

The Smithsonian describes Mocha as having once been a vast coffee marketplace, noting that the beans exported from Yemen became known around the world by the name of the port — Mocha.
