עלי א-זידי, ראש ממשלה עיראקי חדש שמנקה אורוות

ב-12.5.2026 הושבע לתפקידו בעיראק ראש ממשלה חדש. עלי פאלח כּאט׳ם א-זידי (علي فالح كاظم الزيدي). הוא עומד בראש מפלגה פרו אמריקאית, ואנטי איראנית.

לפני מספר ימים הכריז על מבצע ״ניקוי אורוות״. הוא הכניס כוחות צבא ומשטרה אל ״האזור הירוק״ (האזור המאובטח) ועצר שורה של פוליטיקאים ואנשי עסקים המעורבים בשחיתות והחרים ממון ונשק רב שנתפס. מה שאולי לא יפתיע אתכם הוא העובדה שקיים קשר הדוק בין מי שנעצר באשמת שחיתות לבין היותם חלק מן הציר הפרו-איראני.

הערוצים הערבים מוצפים בתמונות של רכוש שנתפס בבתיהם של פקידים ממשלתיים— וכמות הכסף, הערכים והחפצים היקרים שם היא מטורפת!

למשל, בביתה של חברת הפרלמנט חינד אל-עבאסי נמצאו 57 מיליון דולר במזומן, 27 ק"ג זהב טהור וסט של תחתונים וחזייה מזהב (!!!)

The Iraqi Scandal:
Ali Al-Zaidi, Iraq's New Prime Minister, Launches an Anti-Corruption Crackdown
On May 12, 2026, Iraq swore in a new prime minister, Ali Faleh Kadhim Al-Zaidi (علي فالح كاظم الزيدي). He heads a pro-American, anti-Iranian political party.
A few days ago, he announced what he called "Operation Clean Stables," a sweeping anti-corruption campaign. Iraqi military and police forces were deployed into Baghdad's Green Zone, where they arrested a number of politicians and businessmen on corruption charges, while also seizing large amounts of cash, weapons, and other assets.
What may not come as a surprise is that many of those arrested for corruption are reportedly affiliated with the pro-Iranian political camp.
Arab media channels have been flooded with images of valuables seized from the homes of government officials, showing astonishing amounts of cash, gold, and luxury items.
For example, authorities reportedly found $57 million in cash, 27 kilograms of pure gold, and even a gold bra and underwear set in the home of Member of Parliament Hind Al-Abbasi.

Meanwhile, Iranian media quoted the head of the reconstruction committee for the holy shrines of Qom as saying:

"The women of Qom donate large quantities of gold to the headquarters (in Iraq) every month."

Commenting on the reports, some Iranian channels wrote:
"Now we know where the gold went."

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa today announced the 70 members of parliament he has appointed under his presidential quota. One of the more notable names is Ruzaina Ladhiqani, a well-known Syrian actress famous for her roles in numerous television dramas, who has been given a guaranteed seat in the first parliament of the al-Sharaa era.

The move has sparked significant criticism, with many opposing the appointment.

עפ"י הדיווחים הפיצוץ אירע בשוק החשמל בדמשק בתוך בית קפה ליד בית המשפט וישנם רבים הרוגים.

מרכז המעקב הסורי, גוף אופוזיציה היושב בבריטניה, מדווח כי מידע ראשוני שהגיע אליו מצביע על הרוגים ופצועים בפיצוץ. עוד נמסר בדיווח, כי כוחות הביטחון הטילו סגר הדוק על הזירה, במקביל להגעת אמבולנסים המעבירים את הפצועים לבתי חולים סמוכים. רשויות הביטחון, לדברי מרכז המעקב, עודן בודקות את הסיבות לפיצוץ.

ערוץ אל-אחבאריה הסורי הרשמי מדווח כי הפיצוץ בבית הקפה בדמשק התבצע כתוצאה ממטען חבלה שהונח במקום.

רשויות החירום במשרד הבריאות הסורי מדווחות לערוץ אל-ג'זירה על 4 הרוגים ועוד 10 פצועים בפיצוץ בדמשק.

Bomb attack in Damascus:
According to reports, the explosion occurred in the electricity market in Damascus inside a cafe near the courthouse and there are many dead.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based opposition group, said initial reports indicated that there were casualties in the explosion. The report also said that security forces had imposed a tight blockade on the scene, while ambulances were arriving to transport the wounded to nearby hospitals. Security authorities, according to the Observatory, are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

The receiving of mourners will begin on Friday at 08:00 in the morning, with the participation of a large audience of dignitaries and popular delegations.

The receiving of mourners will continue until around 12:00 noon on the same day.

At around 14:00, senior officials from various countries and political figures will participate in the ceremony.

Guests from approximately 100 countries are expected to arrive, including political figures, prime ministers, parliament speakers, foreign ministers, or special envoys.

Authorities expect around 10 million people to attend.
