הרכיב הראשון הוא סיפון הטיסה שממנו ממריאים המטוסים. השני הוא “האי” - מבנה הבקרה בצד הספינה הכולל מערכות שליטה בטיסות, אנטנות רדאר ותקשורת וחדרי פיקוד מבצעיים. הרכיב השלישי הוא תת-הסיפון שבו נמצאת מערכת ההנעה, כולל הכורים הגרעיניים.

המומחה טען כי פגיעה ברכיבים אלה באמצעות טילים או כלי טיס בלתי מאוישים עשויה לגרום ל”Mission Kill” - מצב שבו נושאת המטוסים מושבתת ואינה כשירה לפעולה.

This is how an aircraft carrier can be disabled - even without sinking it, and it is possible to be satisfied with hitting three main components.

The first component is the flight deck from which the planes take off. The second is the “island” - the control structure on the side of the ship that includes flight control systems, radar and communication antennas, and operational command rooms. The third component is the subdeck where the propulsion system, including the nuclear reactors, is located.

The expert claimed that hitting these components with missiles or unmanned aerial vehicles could cause a “Mission Kill” - a situation in which the aircraft carrier is disabled and inoperable.
