- According to official sources, President Trump is taking an approach to Iran similar to the one he took with Venezuela

- President Trump also has some motivation to target the Iranian leadership, who tried to harm him

In Israel, there is pressure for a third option - Israel wants the US to join it in a renewed strike on the ballistic missile program, with Israeli intelligence saying the program has been extensively rebuilt since Operation Rising Lion.
