המכון למדעים ולביטחון בינלאומי מפרסם עדכון על אתר טאלקאן 2, שבעבר היה מקושר לפרויקט "עמאד" לנשק גרעיני:

צילומי לוויין עדכניים על טאלקאן 2 מראים כי הקמת כיסוי הבטון מתקרב לסיום. המתקן כמעט כולו עטוף בבטון, מה שהופך אותו למוכן לכיסוי באדמה שיספק לו הגנה מחוזקת נוספת מפני תקיפה אווירית. כמו כן, מבנה או מתקן חדש נבנה בחזית האתר, אשר יעניק לו שכבת הגנה נוספת.

איראן נקטה גם בצעדים לחיזוק אבטחת האתר. הופעלה מחדש סוללת נ"מ סמוכה שהייתה ללא שימוש, ואף הותקנו שתי סוללות נוספות חדשות.

המכון רואה בהקמת המתקן כעניין בעל חשיבות, שכן הוא ממוקם במקום שבו בוצעו ניסויים ופיתוח של רכיבי נשק גרעיני במסגרת תכנית "עמאד" לפחות עד 2004, וכן ייצור רכיבים לנשק גרעיני בשנים מאוחרות יותר. אף שלא ניתן היה לקבוע מן הצילומים את ייעודו של המתקן החדש, עצם הבנייה החדשה מעידה על חשיבותו האסטרטגית.

The Institute for Science and International Security publishes an update on the Talekan 2 site, which was previously linked to the "Emad" nuclear weapons program:

Recent satellite images of Talekan 2 show that the construction of the concrete cover is nearing completion. The facility is almost entirely encased in concrete, making it ready for a soil cover that will provide it with additional reinforced protection against air attack. In addition, a new structure or facility has been built in front of the site, which will provide it with an additional layer of protection.

Iran has also taken steps to strengthen the site's security. A nearby anti-aircraft battery that had been unused was reactivated, and two additional new batteries were installed.

The institute considers the establishment of the facility to be of importance, as it is located at a location where nuclear weapons components were tested and developed as part of the "Emad" program at least until 2004, as well as the production of components for nuclear weapons in later years. Although the purpose of the new facility could not be determined from the photographs, the very fact of the new construction indicates its strategic importance.
