בדיווח שהתייחס להעברת נכסים צבאיים אמריקאים למזרח התיכון, כתב כי טראמפ מחפש אפשרויות "מכריעות" בנוגע לרפובליקה האסלאמית.
על פי הדיווח, פקידי הפנטגון והבית הלבן בוחנים מקרוב מגוון אפשרויות, כולל הפלת הרפובליקה האסלאמית וכן כמה אפשרויות מוגבלות יותר כמו תקיפת מתקני משמרות המהפכה.
על פי גורמים אמריקאים, טראמפ טרם הורה על תקיפה על איראן, והחלטתו הסופית נותרה לא ברורה. עם זאת, המשך הדיונים הללו מצביע על כך שטראמפ לא שלל את הענשת טהרן על הריגת מפגינים על רקע המשבר הכלכלי של איראן.
על פי גורמים אמריקאים לשעבר ומומחים, השאלה הגדולה יותר עבור ממשלת ארה"ב היא האם ניתן להפיל משטר זר אך ורק באמצעות תקיפות אוויריות או לא.
על פי הדיווח, הבית הלבן חייב גם להתמודד עם האם הוא מוכן לבצע קמפיין צבאי ארוך טווח; קמפיין שאם המפגינים יחזרו לרחובות ויקראו לתמיכה בטראמפ, עלול להימשך שבועות או חודשים.

In a report referring to the transfer of U.S. military assets to the Middle East, wrote that Trump is seeking "decisive" options regarding the Islamic Republic.
According to the report, Pentagon and White House officials are reviewing a range of options more closely, including the overthrow of the Islamic Republic as well as some more limited options such as attacking the IRGC facilities.
According to U.S. officials, Trump has not yet ordered an attack on Iran, and his final decision remains unclear. However, the continuation of these discussions indicates that Trump has not ruled out punishing Tehran for the killing of protesters amid Iran's economic crisis.
According to former U.S. officials and experts, the bigger question for the U.S. government is whether a foreign regime can be overthrown solely through airstrikes or not.
According to the report, the White House must also confront whether it is prepared to carry out a long-term military campaign; a campaign that, if protesters return to the streets and call for support of Trump, could last weeks or months.

A large USAF redeployment is underway, with around 10 KC-135R aerial refueling tankers departing the continental U.S. within the past hour.

So far, 4 aircraft are heading to Morón Air Base in Spain, 3–4 to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and 2 to RAF Mildenhall in the UK, with one additional aircraft yet to be confirmed.
