כוחות הביטחון עצרו הלילה את שני אחיו של המחבל האחראי לפיגוע הקטלני באזור עפולה ביום שישי, לאחר מבצע משותף של הימ"מ והשב"כ.

האחים, בני 30 ו-33, נעצרו לאחר שמודיעין הצביע על כך שהם הסתתרו באזור הגליל לאחר הפיגוע בכביש 71. בעקבות מידע זה, כוחות עילית, בסיוע משטרת המחוז הצפוני, לוחמי מג"ב ויחידות המשמר הלאומי, פשטו על מבנה חקלאי סמוך לכפר עראבה, שם נעצרו החשודים.

המעצרים מגיעים לאחר מעצרו הקודם של מעסיקו של המחבל, שרכבו שימש במהלך הפיגוע.

צו איסור פרסום הוטל על ידי בית המשפט על כל פרטי החקירה עד 26 בינואר 2026, או עד להודעה חדשה.

הושלמה אטימת את בית המחבל שביצע את פיגוע הדריסה והדקירה בסוף השבוע (ו׳) בבית שאן, עין חרוד ועפולה.

Israeli security forces overnight arrested two brothers of the terrorist responsible for the deadly terrorist attack in the Afula area, in Israel, on Friday, following a joint operation by the YAMAM counterterrorism unit and the Shin Bet.

The brothers, aged 30 and 33, were detained after intelligence indicated they had been hiding illegally in the Galilee region following the attack on Road 71. Acting on this information, elite forces, assisted by the Northern District Police, Border Police fighters, and National Guard units, raided an agricultural structure near the village of Arraba, where the suspects were arrested.

The arrests follow the earlier detention of the attacker’s employer, whose vehicle was used during the terror attack.

A court-ordered gag order has been imposed on all details of the investigation until January 26, 2026, or until further notice.

Sagiv Asulin, a former senior official in the defense establishment and a senior researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Foreign and Security Affairs, says that the secret move in Somaliland is a large-scale strategic event that was built over time and led mainly by the Mossad. A Turkish commentator on Arab television: “We will reconquer Jerusalem.”

Turkish commentator Bekir Atçan, speaking in an interview with the Al-Mashhad network, issued direct threats against Israel. He said that while Israelis may have refused to accept Turkish forces as a peacekeeping presence in Gaza, “they haven’t seen anything yet.”

Atçan went on to claim that the Turkish military would attack Israel and conquer Jerusalem. He further asserted that Jews had previously arrived in the region as immigrants only after having “bowed down” to the Turks, asking rhetorically, “Where will they run now? They came to us submissive.”

When the host challenged him on whether he stood by his remarks, Atçan responded: “Yes, with Allah’s help—and it will happen very soon.”

The Turkish Defense Ministry and the IDF's Turkish-language account engaged in a social media posts "war" exchange.
