IDF Troops Thwarted Weapons Smuggling in the Hermon Summit Area

During an overnight activity (Friday) of IDF troops and Unit 504, several suspects who attempted to smuggle weapons from Syrian territory to Lebanon were apprehended in the Hermon summit area.

The troops apprehended the suspects who attempted to smuggle grenades, guns, anti-tank rockets, and ammunition.
The suspects were transferred for questioning, and the weapons were confiscated.

IDF troops continue to be deployed in the area in order to protect Israeli civilians and the residents of the Golan Heights in particular.

כוחות צה"ל ממשיכים להיות פרוסים במרחב על מנת להגן על ביטחון אזרחי מדינת ישראל ותושבי רמת הגולן בפרט.

Ronen Tommy Engel was killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7th, 2023, when he went out to defend his family from terrorists, and his body was taken into the Gaza Strip. Ronen, 54 years old at the time of his death, was abducted from his home in Nir Oz. His death was pronounced on December 1st, 2023. He leaves behind a wife, three children, and a brother. The identification procedures at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine are ongoing at this time, and the IDF is in contact with all the families.

כחלק מהליך הזיהוי שנעשה על ידי המרכז הלאומי לרפואה משפטית בשיתוף משטרת ישראל והרבנות הצבאית, נציגי צה״ל הודיעו למשפחתו של החטוף רונן טומי אנגל ז״ל כי יקירם הושב לקבורה.

רונן טומי אנגל ז״ל נהרג ע״י מחבלי ארגון הטרור חמאס ב-7 באוקטובר 2023, כשיצא להגן על משפחתו מידי מחבלים וגופתו נחטפה לרצועת עזה. רונן ז״ל, בן 54 במותו, נחטף מביתו בקיבוץ ניר עוז, ובתאריך 01/12/23 נקבע מותו. הותיר אחריו אישה, שלושה ילדים ואח. אשתו, קרינה ושתי בנותיו, מיקה ויובל, נחטפו גם הן והושבו בהסכם ״דלתות שמיים״ בנובמבר 2023.

תהליך הזיהוי במרכז הלאומי לרפואה משפטית נמשך גם בשעה זו, צה״ל עומד בקשר עם כלל המשפחות.

צה״ל משתתף בצער המשפחות, ממשיך להשקיע את כלל המאמצים בהשבת החטופים החללים ונערך להמשך מימושו של ההסכם.

חמאס נדרש לעמוד בחלקו בהסכם ולבצע את כלל המאמצים הנדרשים על מנת להשיב את החטופים החללים למשפחותיהם ולקבורה ראויה.

אמש הוחזרו לישראל ארונותיהם של שני חללים, ואנגל ז"ל הוא כאמור אחד מהם. שמו של החלל השני טרם הותר לפרסום.
