Athens' Wagner Force is hunting Israelis:
In recent weeks, more and more reports have begun to emerge of the activities of an anti-Semitic group consisting of supporters of a pro-Palestinian movement, which is terrorizing Israeli tourists and citizens in the city. The group, which has between 40 and 90 members, roams the streets of the city in the evenings, wearing black shirts with the Palestinian flag on them, creating a threatening and frightening atmosphere.
"We lowered our heads and looked down" Liran Cohen, a tourist from Rehovot who is vacationing in Athens with her husband, shared the shocking experience she had last Saturday.

We entered the restaurant to avoid it, but then they came in, stood at the entrance and scanned the diners with threatening looks. I’m pretty sure they were looking for Israelis. We lowered our heads and looked down, fearing they would recognize us as Israelis. We were afraid to leave the restaurant until they left.

Liran is not the only one who felt threatened. Other reports from tourists and citizens in the city indicate a growing sense of insecurity, especially among the Jewish community and tourists from Israel, who are afraid to walk around the city in the evening.
The group is led by George Klaitidis, a well-known figure in radical leftist circles in Greece, known for his extreme anti-Semitic and pro-Palestinian positions. Klaitidis, who brags about his activities on social media, publishes content describing the group’s actions as a “struggle for Palestine,” but many see this as clear incitement against Jews and Israelis. In recent posts, he boasts about the group’s “patrols” on the streets of Athens.

So far, Greek authorities have not issued an official response regarding the group's activities, and despite online complaints filed by Liran and her husband, not a single member of the anti-Semitic gang has been arrested.

The phenomenon in Athens joins a wave of anti-Semitic incidents across Greece, which intensified over the past weekend - a similar incident was experienced by a mother and daughter on Friday night in the central square, when they were caught up in a mass anti-Semitic demonstration.

לירן אינה היחידה שחשה מאוימת. דיווחים נוספים מתיירים ואזרחים בעיר מצביעים על תחושת חוסר ביטחון הולכת וגוברת, במיוחד בקרב הקהילה היהודית ותיירים מישראל, שחוששים להסתובב בעיר בשעות הערב.
בראש החבורה עומד ג'ורג' קלאיטידיס, דמות מוכרת בחוגי השמאל הרדיקלי ביוון, הידוע בעמדותיו האנטישמיות והפרו-פלסטיניות הקיצוניות. קלאיטידיס, שמתרברב ברשתות החברתיות בפעילותו, מפרסם תכנים המתארים את פעולות הקבוצה כ"מאבק למען פלסטין", אך רבים רואים בכך הסתה ברורה נגד יהודים וישראלים. בפוסטים שפרסם לאחרונה, הוא מתגאה ב"פטרולים" של הקבוצה ברחובות אתונה.

עד כה, הרשויות היווניות לא פרסמו תגובה רשמית בנוגע לפעילות הקבוצה, ולמרות תלונות מקוונות שהגישו לירן ובעלה - אף חבר בכנופייה האנטישמית לא נעצר.

התופעה באתונה מצטרפת לגל של אירועים אנטישמיים ברחבי יוון, שהתגברו בסוף השבוע האחרון - מקרה דומה חוו אם ובתה בליל שישי בכיכר המרכזית, כאשר נקלעו להפגנה אנטישמית המונית.
