Intra-Day Trading whether it is permissible or not ?
By Definition Intra-Day trading means buying and selling of the shares on the same day.
This is a bookish definition now let's see what happens when we choose Intra-Day on our brokers applications.
When we choose Intra-Day on our brokers application two things happen-
1) Margin
2) Auto square off at the end of the day.
Now let's discuss these things, start with the margin, brokers provide margins to earn interest on that and to earn more brokerage fees.
Now let's enlighten the auto square off, if you don't sell the shares on the same day brokers will sell your shares without your consent before 3:30.
Now, what Islamic Scholars tell us about this, again start with the margin, as I already wrote broker provides margin to earn interest and Islam prohibits interest. So, if you trade with the amount on which you are paying interest this will not be permissible. This is one of the reasons that Intra-Day is not permissible.
But here someone can argue that if brokers provides interest free margin then,.......
So, the answer is still Intra-Day will not permissible, because Abhi hamne dusri condition to discuss hi nahi ki.....
Second condition which is auto square off, as I already wrote your broker will sell your shares without your consent it means shares was not in your possession, so you couldn't sell anything which is not in your possession. This is the second and more important reason that why Intra-Day is not permissible.
As far as the webinar and article of Islamicly, they allow day trading only if you are not taking any margin and the condition of auto square off must not be there.

Q: If we purchase shares on delivery, is it permissible to sell that on the same day ?
A: Before answering this question lets understand two concepts-
1) Physical Possession
2) Constructive Possession
Physical possession simply when you actually hold the shares, it means when the shares get credited to your Demat account.
Constructive possession refers to when you have control over the item without having them in physical possession. (Trading Day, T+1)
The answer to the above question is, Majority of Islamic scholars have the point that the selling of shares is only permissible when they are credited to your Demat account. It means you got the constructive as well as physical possession of the shares.
The second thing, there are very less number of Islamic finance experts who believe that we can sell the shares anytime if we have purchased them on delivery, and according to them, only constructive possession is enough, and physical possession is not mandatory.
One more thing I want to clarify that just think about it what is a share? and what is the real concept behind this? So the answer is that a Share is simply the smallest unit of ownership in the company and we purchase shares to become owners of the part in the company.
Now if you are the owner of the company it means if the company earns profits you must have a part in that profits and at the same time if the company makes any losses you must have a part in it.
So just think if a company distributes dividends on some date for example today what do you think will you get the dividend if you purchase the shares today or even yesterday, the answer is no. company provides dividends only to those shareholders that have the shares in their Demat account, it means companies consider owners only those people who have the shares in their Demat account. Islamic scholars consider this as a transfer of risk and it happens only when shares credit to the Demat account.
I hope this will clear your doubt regarding day trading.
It would be better for us to sell the shares only when they are credited to our Demat account.
These are the reasons that we should not promote day trading my respected brothers and members.
Allah Knows Best.
