Helloooo SCORPionsπŸ—£,
Our deepest apologies for going MIA. But no worries… we’re back and better than ever! πŸ™ŒπŸ’š

And since we’re on the topic of comebacks, delays, and taking your time...

Meet today’s inspiring hero:

🌟 Wisdom Wednesday 🌟

πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ Dr. Toh Hong Keng , a Doctor at 70 🩺

After a full career in tech sales, Dr. Toh chased a lifelong dream of studying medicine in his mid-60s. At 70, he graduated from Southwestern University.

The journey wasn’t easy, rather challenging with slower memory, tougher exams and long hospital shifts.

πŸ’¬ His motto? β€œSayang”, a Filipino word meaning β€œit would be a shame”. A shame to give up. A shame to stop dreaming.

✍It’s never too late to pursue what sets your soul on fire. Age is just a number; purpose is timeless. β³πŸ’‘

Study stress = β€œbrain fever”? 🧠πŸ”₯
Did you know❓

Back in the 1800s, students and scholars believed intense studying could cause β€œbrain fever”, a vague diagnosis for headaches, anxiety, and exhaustion. Their β€œtreatments” included leeches and cold baths! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ©Έ

Opening a leech shop right next to a medical school would’ve made someone instantly richπŸ˜‚.

Thankfully, we’ve come a long way since then. Burnout is real and it’s definitely not cured by bloodletting.

πŸ’‘ Here’s the real deal:
Burnout is tough, but it’s okay to take breaks, get enough sleep, and ask for help. Treat your mental health like your textbooks, with care and respect πŸ’šπŸ“š

Meet Dr. Tesfaye Telila and Dr. Obsinet Merid, an Ethiopian-American power couple on a mission to save lives. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ήβ€οΈ

Dr. Tesfaye, an interventional cardiologist, and Dr. Obsinet, an internist and CEO of Heart Attack Ethiopia, co-founded the nonprofit to tackle Ethiopia’s critical shortage of cardiac care. With fewer than five cardiac surgeons for over 120 million people, their organization has become a beacon of hope. ✨πŸ₯

Since its inception, they’ve:

πŸ’šPerformed over 120 life-saving procedures πŸ’‰β€οΈ, including open-heart surgeries and pacemaker implants.

πŸ’šConducted three mission trips 🌍🀝, working closely with local hospitals.

πŸ’šTrained healthcare professionals πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ to build sustainable cardiac care infrastructure.

πŸ’šDelivered over $2 million in medical supplies πŸ“¦πŸ’Š to support the healthcare system.

Their dedication shows us that real impact happens when passion meets purpose; saving hearts, building hope. πŸ’š

In Samoa, forgetting your wife’s birthday isn’t just a relationship no-no, it’s illegal! πŸŽ‚πŸš«
Yes, you read that right. The law there says if you don’t remember the big day, you could actually face legal consequences.

So if you want to keep the peace at home (and avoid any unexpected courtroom drama), maybe just mark that calendar twice or set 10 remindersπŸ˜πŸ™Œ.

It’s a wild way to enforce peace at home . So, next time you forget, just remember: this isn’t just about hurt feelings, it’s about legal peacekeeping… and yes, probably lots of cake😌✨

🌟 Wisdom Wednesday 🌟

When no one else would speak up, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha did. πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ

In 2015, she revealed that children in Flint, Michigan, were being poisoned by lead-contaminated waterβ€”a crisis that began in 2014 after the city changed its water source without proper treatment. Officials denied the problem, but she chose to speak out. πŸ“’
She worked tirelessly to gather evidence and push for urgent action to protect vulnerable children. 🩺❀️

β€œThe most important thing I ever did was listen to the voice that said, β€˜Do what’s right. Even if you stand alone!’” ✨

Her research was dismissed.
She faced criticism, but she kept going, because children's health mattered more than her comfort.

πŸ“Œ This reminds us: Medicine isn’t just about treating illness, it’s about standing for justice and defending the right to health, especially for the unheard. βš–οΈπŸŒ

Strange But True!

Did you know that in 19th-century England, it was basically illegal to be poor? 🀯
Under the so-called β€œPoor Laws,” people who were homeless or unemployed could be forced into harsh workhouses 🏚  not for committing a crime, but simply for being in need. Sounds wild, right?

We’ve come a long way since then , but it’s a reminder of why human rights βš–οΈ and the work we do in SCORP πŸ•Š  matter so much.

Even cartoon characters have human rights!” πŸ§‘β€βš–οΈπŸŽ¬

Yes, you read that right. In 2011, the United Nations made the Smurfs official ambassadors for peace and goodwill. That’s right, tiny blue creatures who live in mushroomsπŸ„ and avoid Gargamel are now international peace icons. πŸŒπŸ’™

So next time you watch cartoons, remember: even fictional characters are speaking up for justice, peace, and equality, in between saving the world and getting into hilarious messesπŸ˜„

Meet Biquette the goat 🐐, probably the most unexpected human rights ambassador the UN ever had!

In 1979, during the International Year of the Child, French humanitarian Jean-Pierre HockΓ© took Biquette on a journey across borders to raise awareness about children’s rights. πŸ§’πŸŒ

And guess what?

The United Nations gave Biquette her own official travel document. yes, a goat passport! πŸ›‚πŸ

Together, they:

πŸ’šVisited refugee camps and villages to advocate for vulnerable children πŸ‘§πŸ½πŸ•οΈ
πŸ’šCaptured global attention with creativity and compassion πŸ“Έβ€οΈ
πŸ’šProved that awareness doesn’t always need a podium, sometimes a goat will do 🐐🎀

It’s a fun reminder that human rights work doesn’t have to be boring, it just has to be bold.
Even a goat can help spark change. What can you do? πŸ’š

In Switzerland, owning just one guinea pig isn’t allowed! 🐹🚫

Why?
Because guinea pigs are social creatures, and keeping one alone is considered animal neglect. The law sees them as β€œvictims of loneliness,” so you must have at least two to keep each other company.

It’s a sweet reminder that laws can protect emotional well-being too, not just for humans, but for our furry friends!
So, if you ever become a guinea pig parent, remember: it’s double the whiskers, double the fun… and double the hay bills πŸ˜„πŸ™Œ.
