πŸ—£πŸ—£ "Medicine must never again be used as a weapon against human rights."

Meet ✨ The Nuremberg Code ✨ – The Rulebook That Saved Ethics in Medicine

Imagine a world where doctors could experiment on people without consentβ€”terrifying, right? Well, that was reality during World War II, when Nazi doctors conducted horrific experiments on prisoners. The world was outraged, and in 1947, the Nuremberg Code was born!

🩺 What did it do?
It established informed consent as the golden rule of medical research, meaning no one can be used as a test subject without full knowledge and agreement. This was the first step toward modern medical ethics, shaping how research is done today.

πŸ’‘πŸ“– Let this be a reminder: Science must serve humanity, not harm it.

The Man Who Gave the Deaf a Voice: Abbe Charles-Michel de l’ÉpΓ©e πŸ‘βœ¨

Imagine living in a world where you couldn’t express your thoughtsπŸ’, where society saw you as incapable simply because you were deaf. That was the reality for many before one man changed everything.

AbbΓ© Charles-Michel de l’ÉpΓ©e, an 18th-century French educator, believed that deaf individuals had the right to education and communication. While others dismissed them, he saw their potentialπŸ’‘. Using hand signs already in use by the deaf community, he developed the first standardized sign language systemβ€”laying the foundation for what would become modern sign languages. πŸ—£οΈβž‘οΈπŸ€Ÿ

In 1760, he established the world’s first free school for the deaf, proving that with the right tools, deaf individuals could learn, succeed, and thrive.

✍His story is a reminder that true change happens when we choose to see ability instead of limitation.

Did you know that sign language isn’t universal?🌏 Different countries have their own versions, just like spoken languages!

Today’s sign: β€œThank youβ€πŸ™
Try it out! Just place the fingertips of one hand near your chin and gently move your hand forward. Easy, right?
It’s a small gesture with a big impact😊

Let’s spread kindness, not just with words, but with signs too!

Meet Helen Keller: A True Inspiration Who Changed the World Without Hearing or Sight

Born in 1880, Helen Keller lost both her hearing and sight at just 19 months old. But that didn’t stop her from becoming one of the most influential voices in history.

With the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan , Helen learned to communicate through tactile sign language, a groundbreaking achievement at the time.

She went on to become the first deaf-blind person to earn a college degree πŸŽ“, author 12 books πŸ“š, and travel the world as a speaker and activist for the rights of the deaf, blind, and disabled community ✊.

✍Helen proved that disability does not define your ability. Her courage and determination opened doors for millions and changed the way the world sees communication, education, and inclusion.

Your Face Is Part of the Sentence!

Think your face is just for showing emotion? In sign language it's doing so much more.

Facial expressions are actually part of the grammar.
They’re called non-manual markers, and they help show tone, questions, negation, and emotion.

❓Asking a yes/no question? Raise your eyebrows 🀨
Stating something negativeπŸ™…? Shake your head while signing
Feeling surprised or excited? Let your face show it πŸ˜²πŸ˜„

In Sign Language,  your hands are the words and your face is the punctuation, tone, and emojis, all in one!

Switzerland: The World’s Chillest Roommate

Switzerland hasn’t been in a war since 1815 . Yep, that’s over 200 years of saying:
β€œMmm... yeah, I’m gonna sit this one out.” πŸ˜ŒπŸ›‹οΈ

While the rest of the world was throwing hands (and bombs) πŸ’£, Switzerland was over there yodeling in the Alps πŸ”οΈπŸŽΆ, making chocolate 🍫, and inventing the world’s most confusing knives.

They’re like the neutral best friend in a group chat : doesn’t pick sides 🀝, sends wholesome memes, & brings snacks to every meeting.

They host peace talks like it’s a hobby , stay cool under pressure πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ, and still have better bank security than your phone’s Face ID .

✍️ Sometimes, world peace  starts with a calm attitude, a mountain view , and some solid cheese πŸ§€.

✨Wisdom Wednesday ✨

Meet 🩺 Dr. Joanne Liu β€” the fearless doctor who turned compassion into global action.

While most of us were watching world crises on the news, she was there, in the middle of it all β€” from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa 🌍 to war zones in Syria and Yemen .

As the former president of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) 🌐, she challenged world leaders πŸ›οΈ, spoke at the UN , and told the truth even when it was uncomfortable.

She didn’t just talk about healthcare as a human right β€” she lived it .

β€œWe are not neutral when medical care is attacked. We are not silent when humanity is denied.” β€” Dr. Joanne Liu

✍Let her story remind us: Medicine isn’t just about textbooks πŸ“š and stethoscopes 🩺. It’s about standing up ✊ β€” even when it's hard, even when you're alone.

Arrested for wearing a hat⁉️

Did you know❓

In 1797, a man named John Hetherington wore the first top hat 🎩 in public in London.
People were so shocked, they screamed 😱, ran away πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ, and some even fainted 🫨! He was arrested for "causing a public disturbance"... just for wearing a new kind of hat!

Now imagine that expressing yourself through fashion  caused legal troubleπŸ˜„.

Thankfully, today freedom of expression ✊ is recognized as a basic human right and no one’s getting arrested for their clothes anymore (hopefully!)
