Such a great session.
Most of medical students face sense of depression along their long journey of Medical school. Today we initiated our SCORP summit on 'Depression among medical students'. It was an insightful and eye opening session for all of us. We want to thank Dr Barkot Milkias (Assistant professor of Psychiatry at AAU) and Dr Azeb Asamnew (Assistant professor of Psychiatry at AAU) for their time and sharing their amazing experiences regarding the issue.

π POSTPONED to NEXT WEEKEND π
Till then, did you know?
A study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine found that patients who rated their doctors as "very compassionate" were more likely to have better health outcomes, such as lower blood pressure and better diabetes control, compared to those who rated their doctors as less compassionate.

π We're back with the second episode of... LET'S TALK HUMANITY.
βThe conversation between doctor and patientβ¦ should be viewed as the single most important tool of medical care,β Danielle Ofri says at the end of her book, 'What Patients Say, What Doctors Hear'.
She confesses her own failure in a gripping tale: a relentless patient, Oumar Amadou, whose pleas were perceived as pestering. As fate would have it, when urgency struck, their encounter unfolded in a heart-stopping moment - a reminder that genuine connection can spell the difference between life and despair.
"Amidst the orchestra of beeping monitors, one doctor's empathetic glance became a lifeline - a human touch in a sterilized world. Without it, patients become mere case numbers; with it, they find strength in shared humanity."

Hello future healers! π¨ββοΈπ©ββοΈ
We have an incredible opportunity coming up that you wouldn't want to miss. It's not about sutures, not about diagnosis, and not about prescriptions, but about something just as crucial to the practice of medicine - Empathy and Compassion.

Humanitarian: a person who is involved in or connected with improving people's lives and reducing suffering
πDid you know?
On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers. Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating 19 August as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

2023 Campaign: #NoMatterWhat
Humanitarians are united by a shared mission to save and protect lives. They will never compromise on the humanitarian principles, and always strive to make the best decisions for the people they serve.
On 19 August, we come together to honour humanitarians around the world who strive to meet ever-growing global needs. No matter the hardship humanitarians venture into disaster-stricken regions, on the front lines of conflict to save and protect people in need.
