I want to make a long post about how I got 1540 on the SAT, especially how I went from 1400 to 1540 in 2.5 months by self-studying. Also, I will share the secrets of me cooking the math section not once, but twice. If you want to read it, leave ❤️
Let me first introduce myself a bit. My full name is Muxtarov Xumoyun, I am 16 now( 10 th grade), and I am from Samarkand. My stats for now: IELTS 7, SAT 1540, some english and math olympiad wins, and GPA near perfect 4.9.
In june 2025, I decided to start preparing for the SAT and went to Innovative center. There, I joined SAT verbal group where my teacher was Ali Gulam Sadanov who had 760 ebrw if I am not mistaken. For two months, I learned all the topics and question types in reading and writing. Writing was a walk in the park, while reading was a true beast. Doing a lot of questions in SQB, I took my first full verbal mock test and scored 680. After that, my course was completed, but I didn't have the intention of taking the test.
In september, I saw Bobirjon Baxtiyorov's post about the online SAT course designed to help score 700+ in both sections. I thought to myself this course would help me a lot and I would achieve 1500+ after completing it. I only bought the ebrw course because I was so confident about my math that I will surely score 800. Azimkhon Akobirov(750 ebrw and 800 math) was my teacher. We covered writing and reading topics again from scratch. It was going well, and I was feeling the progress. I sort of felt I am ready and decided to take the test. I studied for math for one month and consistently got 780-800 in practice tests. Finally, I took the test in December. It was good, but I was nervous during the verbal section, so I couldn't do well in it and messed up even easy questions. Nevertheless, I cracked math. In short, I ended up with 1400. Stressed and unsatisfied with the result despite 4 months of prep, I made up my mind to lock in and take the march exam. I took the risk of self-studying because it is hard because of the self-discipline it takes. I only prepared for ebrw.
Here is how I did it:
1. I covered every topic in ebrw and did 40+ questions for each while reading articles. I used SQB, Youtube videos, and one-prep for this.
2. I did tons of full ebrw practice tests in blue book, blue book plus, one prep, and a few other websites(playntest). I created an error log where I sent every single mistake I made and analysed them in depth. I identifyed the DNK of my mistakes—why I made it? And how can I avoid this type of mistake? I also used Elite X SAT materials. They were very helpful.
I read scientific articles full of scientific jargon and complex words. SAT passages are exactly like those. This helped me to boost my reading comprehension.
3. I learned SAT-style words in "Panda 400 words" and new words in questions.
I took the test and got 1540, my target score. This time, I was more confident because my mock scores were decent and I made real progress.
