🗓 Ежегодно 8 августа государства-члены Ассоциации государств Юго-Восточной Азии (#АСЕАН) отмечают #ДеньАСЕАН.

🌏 #АСЕАН была основана 8 августа 1967 года в Бангкоке Индонезией, Малайзией, Сингапуром, Таиландом и Филиппинами, подписавшими Бангкокскую декларацию.

Впоследствии к Ассоциации присоединились Бруней (1984), Вьетнам (1995), Лаос и Мьянма (1997), Камбоджа (1999), а в октябре 2025 года её 11-м полноправным членом стал Восточный Тимор.

#АСЕАН является одним из ключевых элементов региональной архитектуры в Азиатско-Тихоокеанском регионе. Вокруг Ассоциации действует целая система многосторонних механизмов с участием России и других ведущих мировых держав – Восточноазиатский саммит (#ВАС), Региональный форум АСЕАН по безопасности (#АРФ), Совещание министров обороны государств-членов АСЕАН с диалоговыми партнёрами («СМОА плюс») и другие форматы. Россия активно участвует в этих механизмах.

🤝 Развитие сотрудничества с АСЕАН входит в число приоритетов российской внешней политики на азиатском направлении. Россия стала полноправным диалоговым партнёром Ассоциации в 1996 году. В 2017 году в Джакарте начало работу Постоянное представительство России при АСЕАН, а в 2018 году отношения Россия-АСЕАН были выведены на уровень стратегического партнёрства.

17-18 июня 2026 года в Казани состоялся юбилейный саммит, приуроченный к 35-летию отношений #РоссияАСЕАН. В ходе встречи лидеры провели комплексный обзор стратегического партнёрства России и АСЕАН, наметили новые направления взаимодействия в политической, экономической и гуманитарной сферах, а также обменялись мнениями по актуальным международным и региональным вопросам.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the terrorist attacks by Ukrainian militants against Belgorod and Nizhnekamsk (August 10, 2026)

💬 On the night of August 8-9, the Kiev neo-Nazis, suffering defeats on the battlefield, once again took their revenge on civilians, launching drone attacks against residential areas of Belgorod. Six civilians were killed. Another 27 were injured, including boys aged four and nine.

Around 30 apartment buildings, social facilities, administrative and commercial buildings, as well as more than 30 vehicles, were damaged.

On the morning of August 10, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime launched drones at residential and industrial buildings in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. Thirteen people were killed. Another 39 were injured.

▪️ We express our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

The Russian Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases on charges of terrorism. All those involved will be identified and face inevitable severe punishment or military retribution.

The Kiev regime continues to commit crimes against civilians in other Russian regions on a daily basis, causing casualties among children, women and the elderly.

❗️ These strikes, devoid of any military purpose, are carried out deliberately as acts of terror.

We strongly condemn yet another vile attack by the Ukrainian Banderites.

We call on all reasonable members of the international community, relevant international organisations and independent media to categorically condemn Kiev’s terrorist crimes.

Silence will be regarded as complicity and as encouragement for further attacks against Russian civilians.

Key points:

• President of Russia Vladimir Putin made it very clear that we will respond in kind to Western maritime piracy. We will choose the targets ourselves. They will include vessels operating in the interests of countries that have made piracy and plunder part of their official policy.

• We will not stoop to the level of the Ukrainian leadership, which celebrates on social media its terrorist strikes on beaches, dormitories housing young students and other civilian sites. ☝️ We will make our own methods far tougher, targeting everything that enables the West to fuel Kiev’s war machine. And we are already doing so.

• Hostilities should stop only when there is a long-term, reliable and sustainable settlement. If we were suddenly to halt now along the line of contact, we would, in effect, allow the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who defeated Nazism to be erased. That is simply not an option.

• As for the episode at the press conference of Aleksandar Vucic and Zelensky, where a question was asked about “how Europeans could help kill more Russians”, I saw that President Vucic was simply taken aback. Given Serbia’s enormous contribution to the Victory over Nazism, we would of course like to hear some reaction from our Serbian friends.

• The metastases of Nazism continue to resurface in German society under Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who openly speaks of the need to make Germany Europe’s leading military power again. Does he understand what the word “again” means in this context? 👉 I am not sure.

• We do not refuse to talk with US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. If they come, they know that President Vladimir Putin is ready to receive them once again. The question is what they will bring with them.

• We do not issue ultimatums. We have submitted a number of questions to the US State Department and asked for clarification, including regarding intelligence data and the fact that the US is much more deeply involved in organising and carrying out strikes deep inside Russia against civilian targets. We will await a response.

• Our Turkish colleagues are once again saying that some arrangement should be reached to ensure that shipping is not targeted. ❗️ But we did not start this. When a Ukrainian drone strikes a Turkish bulk carrier, tanker or other civilian vessel, or hits ships linked to US companies Chevron and ExxonMobil, neither Turkiye nor the US publicly states that such actions by Ukrainian terrorists are unacceptable.

International Youth Geography Olympiad MY-GEO 2026

Russia invites young geography enthusiasts from around the world to take part in the International Youth Geography Olympiad MY-GEO2026, which will bring together talented school students from different countries at the Sirius Federal Territory.

🗺️ What is MY-GEO?
MY-GEO is an international educational competition for school students interested in geography and the world around them.
The Olympiad is designed to encourage participants to think,analyse, solve problems and apply geographical knowledge in practice.

The competition will cover a wide range of geographical topics and will combine academic knowledge with practical tasks. Participants will have the opportunity to explore real-world geographical challenges and demonstrate their analytical and research skills.

👥 Who can participate?
The Olympiad is open to school students aged 15-18. International participants will take part as members of national delegations, representing their countries at the competition. For Russian students, MY-GEO will provide an opportunity to compete at the international level and meet peers from around the world.

🇷🇺 Where will it take place?
The Olympiad will be held at the Sirius Federal Territory in southern Russia. Sirius is one of Russia's leading centres for education, science and work with talented young people. It regularly hosts major educational programmes, competitions and international events for school students. For international participants, MY-GEO will also be an opportunity to discover Russia, its educational environment and its culture.

If you are a student aged 15-18 and interested in geography, you can find all the information about participation and registration on the official MY-GEO website. ❓ Question: We have received reports that law enforcement officials from unfriendly states are directly sending investigative requests to Russian legal entities, seeking information on individuals suspected of criminal offences

How would you comment on this?

💬 Maria Zakharova: We note such cases with concern.

Let me recall that in 2022, almost all Western countries unilaterally discontinued cooperation with Russia on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. They are now trying to bypass Russia’s competent authorities, in violation of established procedures and their bilateral and multilateral obligations.

In other words, they are acting as though they were on their own turf.

👉 I would like to remind our former partners that such unauthorised activity on the territory of the Russian Federation is a criminal offence.

In this regard, we draw attention to the fact that in 2025 the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was supplemented with Article 294.1, “Unlawful Conduct of Investigative and Other Procedural Actions and Operational-Search Activities on the Territory of the Russian Federation”, specifically aimed at preventing such unlawful attempts to obtain information.

☝️ The offence is punishable by a fine of between 500,000 and 2 million rubles, or by imprisonment for up to five years.

The relevant amendments to Russian legislation became necessary, among other things, to prevent interference by unfriendly states in our country’s internal affairs, as well as to thwart various unscrupulous schemes whereby Western intelligence services effectively lured Russian citizens abroad in order to detain them.

❗️ We recommend that the accredited diplomatic missions of unfriendly states carefully review the relevant explanatory material and bring this information to the attention of their national law enforcement agencies.

💬 Today’s meeting is being held under the grand banner of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s “independence”.

But is there really anything to celebrate?

Over these decades, under successive leaders, the country has been brought to the brink. Those who loudly proclaimed Ukraine’s independence and bright prospects have in fact, whether deliberately or otherwise, been destroying it.

Having failed to achieve its objectives on the battlefield, the Kiev regime has now descended into outright terror against Russia’s civilian population.

Its Western patrons, not to mention Zelensky himself, still cling to the dangerous illusion that further escalation, strikes deep inside our territory and terror against civilians will force us to accept an ultimatum disguised as “peace”.

👉 The negotiating demands being put to us are, to say the least, strange.

❗️ There will be no agreements at the expense of Russia’s security interests.

Any attempt to impose a freeze on the conflict under the guise of a ceasefire, merely to give Kiev a temporary respite to regroup and rearm, is doomed to fail.

As long as we are addressed in the language of ultimatums, terror and threats, while realities on the ground are ignored, there will be no basis for political and diplomatic dialogue.
