🇷🇺🇨🇳 Beginning of Russia's President Vladimir Putin's conversation with President of China Xi Jinping

💬 Vladimir Putin: We will be marking a major milestone, an Anniversary. On October 1, we will celebrate 75 years since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, and the very next day, on October 2, our two countries established diplomatic relations. The Soviet Union was the first country to recognise the new China.

Moscow and Beijing have built a solid track record in terms of their practical cooperation. In 2023, bilateral trade increased by almost 25%, reaching $227 billion, which was quite a positive result.

<...>

It is of fundamental significance that relations between Russia and China do not depend on short-term considerations and are not directed against anyone. Today, our cooperation in global affairs is one of the main stabilising factors on the international stage. We are acting jointly to uphold the principles of justice and a democratic world order that reflects multipolar realities and is based on international law.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Beginning of Russia-China talks

💬 Vladimir Putin: We are sincerely interested in advancing the multifaceted Russian-Chinese collaboration and further strengthening our cooperation in all spheres.

<...>

Russia and China adhere to a shared vision of their national development goals and are committed to ensuring each other’s prosperity based on the principles of mutual respect, neighbourly relations, and mutual benefit.

<...>

We have already talked at our restricted meeting about the areas in which we will continue to develop our relationship for the benefit of both the Russian and Chinese economies. I am confident that all our plans will be implemented.

🖋️Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin’s letter to the Times: The true story of Seacox Heath

︎The Times readers might wish to know the true story of Seacox Heath, which has received far too much undeserved attention lately (Fiona Hamilton, Ali Mitib, 11 May). The estate which belonged to the 2nd Viscount Goschen was not gifted to us. It was purchased in 1946 by the Soviet Trade Delegation from Land and Mortgage Investment Co Limited for £24,000. Back then The Times reported on the deal noting its ‘use as a hostel for families’. Some quarter of a century later, the ownership was formally transferred to the USSR represented by the Soviet and later Russian Ambassador.

︎The swirling allegations regarding the estate are astonishing as well as bizarre. If British intelligence agencies were indeed monitoring it, as stated in The Times, they would know perfectly well that the diplomatic property is used solely for legitimate residential purposes. No outside visitors have been “entering and leaving” Seacox Heath for many years, apart from a few accredited Russian diplomats travelling onwards to the seaside and their children for whom we arrange vacations at the estate each summer.

︎Ironically, the Times piece, with its purely invented allegations of malfeasant activities at Seacox Heath, is accompanied by an image of the mansion taken from a hovering drone or helicopter - in clear violation of principles of diplomatic immunity.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin and President of China Xi Jinping made a media statement following Russia-China talks (May 16, 2024)

💬 Vladimir Putin: The talks we have just finished highlighted the great significance that Moscow and Beijing attach to the development and strengthening of comprehensive Russia-China partnership and strategic interaction. This partnership can certainly set an example of ties between neighbouring states.

Key talking points:

• This state visit takes place in the year of the 75th Anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Our country was the first to recognise the People’s Republic of China on October 2, 1949, the day after its declaration.

• I want to note the significance of the Joint Statement we have adopted, which sets new objectives and long-term directives for advancing the entire spectrum of Russian-Chinese relations.

📈 In 2023, bilateral trade surged by a quarter, reaching a new milestone of $240 billion, as reported by Chinese statistics. While there may be a slight variance in figures, the overall total is entirely accurate. <...> Currently, there are over 80 priority projects valued at approximately $200 billion in progress or in preparation for implementation through the respective intergovernmental commission.

• Our talks have reaffirmed that Russia and China have similar or identical views on many international and regional issues. Both countries have an independent and sovereign foreign policy. We are working together to create a fairer and more democratic multipolar world order.

• We have agreed to further improve communication between credit and banking institutions of Russia and China, while actively employing national payment systems to support our economic operators.

🤝 Russia and China are fruitfully working together in #BRICS and the #SCO. <...> Our countries are resolved to continue working to align integration processes underway within the framework of the #EAEU with China's Belt and Road Initiative.

#Ukraine

Kiev regime has lost all sense of humanity waging war on blocks of flats and civilians. The Kiev regime “leaders” cowardly avoiding accountability for their own failures, resort to all kinds of atrocities just to distract the population from the national catastrophe of historical scale in Ukraine.

#EU

If even one Russian media outlet faces unwarranted restrictions, it will have repercussions for their colleagues (Western journalists) in Russia. This is not a threat or a warning, but a description of an inevitable scenario under certain circumstances that may be orchestrated by the West.

#Neocolonialism

The Westerners are undermining the international currency and financial system that they themselves created. They are ignoring the lawful rights and interests of developing nations. In these conditions, the future belongs to new centres of financial and economic power.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin and President of the PRC Xi Jinping made a speech at the gala concert devoted to the 75th anniversary of Russia-China diplomatic relations and the opening of Russia and China’s years of culture.

💬 Vladimir Putin: Seventy five years is a short period of time by the yardstick of centuries-long history of Russia and China, but during this period we managed to achieve serious results, amass the priceless experience of close, goodneighbourly interaction that embraced joint successes and achievements as well as important historical lessons.

The main thing has always remained unchanged − the traditions of Russian-Chinese friendship, which has stood the test of time and continues to strengthen for the benefit of the peoples of our two countries.

❗️ We can be justly proud of the fact that Russian-Chinese relations have now reached the highest level in history and have acquired the character of genuine comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction.

<...>

Symbolically, such a large-scale joint project as the years of culture of Russia and China has been timed to the anniversary of our bilateral relations.

<...>

The suggested programme is not limited to Moscow and St Petersburg, Beijing and Shanghai. It covers many cities and regions of the two countries.

☝️ A well-known song of that time – 75 years ago − is often performed today. It has a sentence that has become a catch phrase – “Russian and Chinese are brothers forever.” I am confident that we will continue strengthening harmonious Russia-China partnership in this fraternal spirit.

We will continue acting in unison for the sake of the successful development of our two countries and prosperity of our peoples with a view to enhancing the authority and influence of Russia and China in the world. Our cooperation has limitless opportunities and prospects. We are strong enough to cope with any obstacles and implement most ambitious plans.

✍️ President Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants in the 33rd Arab League Summit.

✉️ The Middle East is currently undergoing one of its most severe crises to date. The unprecedented escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of civilian lives and has heightened tensions in neighbouring countries and across the region. Given these tragic circumstances, the imperative for a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, based on internationally recognised principles, becomes particularly urgent.

🇷🇺 Russia remains committed to actively supporting the collective political and diplomatic efforts initiated by the Arab partners to immediately resolve the existing contradictions.

Our country is pushing for a sustainable, long-term normalisation of the situation in Palestinian territories and other conflict zones, including Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Syria, and Lebanon, insisting that the sovereignty of all these countries must be guaranteed and international law respected.

🤝 I firmly believe that the further expansion of the longstanding friendly relations and constructive multifaceted cooperation between the Russian Federation and Arab countries aligns perfectly with our shared interests and contributes to fostering security and stability at both regional and global levels.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the 8th Russia-China EXPO & the 4th Russia-China Forum on Interregional Cooperation together with Vice President of China Han Zheng

💬 Vladimir Putin: The fact that Harbin is hosting these two important events is highly symbolic, since Harbin is one of China’s biggest centres for research, education & innovation.

• Since its founding in the late 19th century, Harbin has been a symbol of the close ties linking Russia & China and their intertwined destinies, and the mutual enrichment of their cultures & traditions.

• Harbin is a city that commemorates our nations’ brotherhood-in-arms. More than 12,000 Soviet fighters perished in the battles to liberate Northeast China from Japanese invaders. It was Harbin that on September 16, 1945, hosted the joint Victory Parade to commemorate the end of hostilities on the Pacific Front & of #WWII.

• We have laid flowers at the memorial to Soviet soldiers & officers. I am extremely grateful to the people of Harbin & the Chinese officials for preserving the memory of our liberators & our shared history of military glory. They have taken great care of our shared historical, spiritual & cultural heritage.

• Building upon the glorious traditions of neighbourliness, friendship & cooperation, we can confidently look forward & embark on ambitious projects together, charting & implementing our grandest plans. President Xi Jinping & I discussed in detail the prospects of developing this close & multi-dimensional cooperation during our talks last night.

📈 The inseparable partnership between Russia & China directly contributes to the growth of both economies, ensuring our energy security, creating new production facilities & high-paying jobs, & ultimately improving the wealth & quality of life of our citizens.

🤝 Traditionally, the EXPO exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to promote industry-specific ties. Russia & China have taken turns in hosting this event for a number of years.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin visited Harbin Institute of Technology and met with Chinese and Russian students and faculty at the university (May 17, 2024)

Key points:

💬 During our talks with President Xi Jinping yesterday, we pointed out with satisfaction that our cooperation in research and education is of priority significance for developing the entire range of Russian-Chinese relations, comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction. <...> To date, about 50,000 Chinese citizens are receiving a higher education in Russia. At the same time, 16,000 Russian citizens are studying in China, and this is not the limit.

• China and Russia have 167 bilateral education programmes and there are 28 institutes with Russian participation in China. Overall, there are 12 Russian-Chinese university associations, which include about 600 institutes. The largest among them is the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities, which comprises 40 Russian and 36 Chinese universities, including Harbin Institute of Technology.

• It is notable that active contacts are not only maintained between our universities but also between our scientists, who are doing research at the forefront of technological progress and in widely different fields, such as medicine, biology, innovative materials, space exploration and microelectronics.

• Russian and Chinese students and educators are not only engaged in educational and scientific exchanges but also actively participate in bilateral cultural, social, creative, and volunteer initiatives.

🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment regarding Kiev regime’s terrorist attacks on Russian regions

💬 On May 16 and 17, the Kiev neo-Nazi regime used fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned speedboats to launch another massive attack on Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory and other Russian regions. Russian air defence forces destroyed and intercepted more than 100 UAVs (51 over the Crimean Peninsula, 44 over the Krasnodar Territory, six over the Belgorod Region, and one over the Kursk Region). The Black Sea Fleet naval aviation and patrol boats destroyed six unmanned speedboats.

Earlier this week, Russian Defence Ministry reported the destruction of 20 US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, over 130 missiles, including US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire, over 20 French-made Hammer guided bombs, and four British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

These barbaric attacks with the use of Western-made weapons are clearly backed by the US and British curators overseeing Zelensky’s regime. They go beyond supplying it with ever longer-range missiles and heavy weapons and now authorise their use against Russia, further escalating the conflict. This Banderite clique seems to have come to believe in its own impunity amid the Western emissaries’ frequent visits to Kiev lately.

❗️ Once again, we would like to issue a stark warning to Washington, London, Brussels and other Western capitals, as well as Kiev which is controlled by them, that they are playing with fire.

Russia will not leave unanswered these acts of aggression against its territory.

🎙️Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin on the expulsion of the Russian Military Attache

Even among British experts, known for their Russophobic rhetoric, the UK Government’s decision to expel the Military Attache of the Russian Embassy in London is viewed as a strategic blunder.

︎This unfriendly move was enacted under a groundless and ridiculous pretext. In this particular case – a fire at a warehouse somewhere in East London. A fake story was quickly made up to put blame on Russia. More broadly – to demonstrate an imaginary success in confronting the fictional threat from Russia.

ℹ️Direct military contacts between our countries were established in 1934. It is largely via these channels that in 1941 the USSR and the UK agreed to embark upon the alliance against Nazi Germany.

☝️Needless to say, even among British experts, known for their Russophobic rhetoric, the UK Government’s decision to expel the Military Attache of the Russian Embassy in London is viewed as a strategic blunder. It is argued that such a move hardly benefits Britain, given the ongoing escalation of military-political tensions [in Europe]. It undermines a substantial channel of military-diplomatic communication, which reduced the risk of inadvertent escalation between our countries.

Obviously, London was aware that a reciprocal measure would inevitably be applied to the UK Defence Attache in Moscow. Overall, it was not a smart thing to have done.

🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin replied to questions from Russian media representatives on the outcomes of his two-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China (May 17, 2024)

Key talking points:

💬 The fact that the future depends on Russia & China is only partly true. The future of humankind depends on the whole of humanity. Certainly, Russia & China are important components of modern civilisation. We have our own views on how we should develop. <...>

We believe that development should be constructive & peaceful, no doubt about it. Apart from our interests, it should heed the interests of all parties to international interaction.

• Of course, it is necessary to strengthen the emerging multipolar world. There is absolutely no doubt that a new world is taking shape before our eyes and becoming multipolar.

• Of course, we are analysing now everything that is taking place in this regard [the Ukrainian crisis]. Of course, we are looking at what is happening around the universally announced meeting in Switzerland, in Geneva. I believe this is the venue of the meeting. We are certainly not going to discuss any formulas about which we know absolutely nothing.

But as distinct from Ukraine, we have never rejected talks.

The goal of this event [in Geneva] is clear. They want to gather as many countries as possible, declare that everything has been agreed upon with everyone and then present it to Russia as a resolved issue, as an ultimatum. This will never happen.

• Sanctions imposed on third countries engaged in economic activities are doubly or triply illegitimate because sanctions are absolutely illegitimate when adopted without the approval of the UN Security Council.

• By undermining trust in the dollar for political reasons, the US authorities are weakening the main, the most powerful & important instrument of their might – the dollar itself. They are doing irreparable damage to themselves. Using one of popular sayings, they are quarrelling with their own bread & butter.
