On the night of May 22, 2026, students at a college in Starobelsk, LPR, shouted: ‘Why are they doing this to us? We’re just kids!’

This film chronicles a drone attack during which the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed sleeping students in cold blood. Twenty-one people died and several dozen were injured. These young people had dreamed of becoming teachers and working in schools. Some were even already planning their weddings. But their dreams were buried beneath the rubble.

The film crew visited what remained of the dormitory building, along with the students and teachers who survived. Their aim was to piece together every detail of those horrific events. Among them was Elena Yuryeva, a teacher who saved more than 30 injured students by leading them out of the dorm.

The drone raid launched by the Kiev regime in Starobelsk claimed the lives of innocent teens. Their deaths are a tragedy for their parents, as well as the teachers who had to identify their students’ bodies. The survivors are left with harrowing memories. The terrorist attack has inflicted immense pain on the city and all of Russia.

Watch the new film by Olga Kiriy, Ilya Andilevko, and Alexey Balakirev 'Starobelsk. No Child Should Die'.

😍 On this day in 1672, Peter the Great, the first Emperor of Russia, was born.

One of the most influential rulers in our country's history, he transformed Russia into a major European power through ambitious reforms, military modernisation, and technological advancement.

A defining episode of his reign was the Great Embassy (1697–1698), a diplomatic journey across Europe. Traveling incognito, Peter sought firsthand knowledge from leading European nations. In England, he stayed in Deptford, one of the country’s key naval dockyards, where he worked alongside shipbuilders as a carpenter, studying navigation and marine engineering.

The connection between Peter the Great and Britain is commemorated in London today: a monument to him was unveiled in 2000 on the site associated with his 1698 visit. His portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller, painted during that stay, is now part of the Royal Collection and displayed at Kensington Palace.

Peter’s reign reshaped Russian history. He founded St Petersburg in 1703, built the nation's first powerful navy, introduced sweeping reforms, and led the country to victory in the Great Northern War, securing its position among Europe’s leading powers.

More than 350 years after his birth, he remains one of the key architects of the Russian state, with a legacy still visible in its institutions and maritime tradition.

💬 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: We are ready and willing to talk [with Ukraine], but the talks must be honest and without tricks, unlike what occurred before the February 2014 coup [...]

We talked with the Ukrainian side in Istanbul in April 2022. At Ukraine’s own initiative, we agreed to its proposed approach and initialled the principles that were to form the basis of a final settlement agreement. The West, including President Macron and then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, did everything possible to foil that agreement [...]

Turning to the most recent negotiations, which took place in Anchorage, Alaska, in August 2025, President Putin accepted a very specific proposal put forward by President Trump in a spirit of compromise. That is how those talks ended.

I very much hope that the previous failures, when the West refused to honour agreements that it had supported, will not be repeated with regard to the understanding reached in Alaska. Unfortunately, however, our US partners have so far shown no interest in it [...]

The leaders of the UK, France and Germany, together with Zelensky, signed a document in London on strategic support for the current regime and preparations for the deployment of "stabilisation forces" – in other words, occupation forces – on whatever territory of Ukraine remains after the conflict ends. They also reportedly agreed to provide Ukraine with additional long-range weapons with which to attack Russian territory, including targets deep inside Russia.

☝️ In this context, I do not see how one can even mention negotiations.

🇷🇺 A country of many nations On the eve of Russia Day, we continue our journey across one of the most diverse places on Earth. Russia is home to more than 190 ethnic groups, each contributing its own language, customs, cuisine, and way of life. From the…
🇷🇺 Russia Day is just around the corner – a good time to look at the achievements that continue to shape the country's place in the world.

From the Soyuz rocket programme, one of the most reliable links to space, to Sputnik V – the first COVID-19 vaccine rolled out during the pandemic – Russian science and engineering have left their mark far beyond national borders.

The country remains a key player in nuclear energy, with advanced power plants and the world's only fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers. More broadly, it stays strong in aerospace, mathematics, IT, cybersecurity, transport networks and Arctic exploration.

Major international moments such as the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2018 FIFA World Cup showed its ability to host world-class events.

At the heart of it all are millions of people – engineers, scientists, doctors, teachers and skilled workers – whose talent and dedication continue to drive progress across generations.
