🕯 86 years ago, on September 30, 1938, the leaders of Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and France signed an agreement in Munich on the German annexation of the Sudetenland, an industrial region of Czechoslovakia where ethnic Germans made up 90 percent of the population. Czechoslovakia had not been invited to the talks; it was presented with the fact that its sovereign territory must be ceded to Nazi Germany as a fait accompli.

This disgraceful pact between the Western powers and Nazi Germany went down in history as the #MunichBetrayal.

👉 Read in detail in our in-depth historical overview.

FACTS:

▪️ Following the signing of the agreement between the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy in Munich, German troops crossed Czechoslovakia’s border on October 1 and occupied the entire area of the Sudetenland by October 10.

▪️ The Soviet Union was ready to defend Czechoslovakia, but the Soviet Army had to obtain permission to pass through Poland or Romania. Warsaw, which was interested in getting part of Czechoslovakia’s territory for itself, adamantly refused to support Prague against Germany and prohibited possible flights of Soviet aircraft to render aid to the Czechoslovak army. Romania made every effort to slow down the process as much as possible.

▪️ The Munich Betrayal crowned the Western powers’ policy of appeasing the aggressor. Hoping to avoid a conflict with the Third Reich, they tried to satisfy its growing territorial claims at the expense of Eastern and Central European countries.

▪️ As the world witnessed the collapse of the Versailles-Washington system of international relations that existed at the time, many countries began to cooperate with the Third Reich and fell into its sphere of influence.

▪️The Czechoslovakia crisis became a prologue to the bloodiest conflict in the history of humanity, demonstrating what underhanded plotting and reliance on countries’ selfish interests can lead to, i.e. paved the way to World War II.

🎙 President Vladimir Putin's address on the Day of Reunification of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with Russia

💬 Today, on 30 September, we mark the Day of Reunification of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with Russia. <...>

We knew the unbearable conditions under which Donbass lived for eight long years, enduring constant shelling and blockades, and the oppression faced by the people of Novorossiya. They stood up against the armed coup in Kiev and resisted the neo-Nazi dictatorship that sought to sever them forever from their historic Motherland, from Russia.

We did not abandon our brothers and sisters and sought to achieve a peaceful resolution to this grave conflict. You know how those talks ended: with lies, deceit and betrayal by the Western elites, who in that time turned Ukraine into their colony, into a military outpost aimed at Russia.

They systematically instilled hatred and radical nationalism, fuelled hostility towards everything Russian, supplied weapons, sent mercenaries and advisers, and trained the Ukrainian army for a new war, so that again, as in the spring and summer of 2014, to launch a punitive operation in the southeast.

☝️ Their targets included not only Donbass, but also Crimea and other Russian regions. The subsequent developments fully confirmed the need for and validity of the special military operation and its genuinely liberating nature.

🎙 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov's remarks at the General Debate of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly

📍New York, September 28, 2024

💬 A few days ago, this building hosted a forum called the Summit of the Future.

Russia was supportive of the idea of the Secretary-General to convene it, since the crisis of our Organisation is deepening and something needs to be done about this. We devoted our efforts to preparing the summit. However, we were realistic in our expectations. There have been many ambitious events in the modern history of the United Nations which ended up with loud declarations which were soon forgotten. <...>

The current UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, just like Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon before him, has put forward an initiative under the slogan of a new start for global cooperation. This is a wonderful idea. Who could disagree? But what global cooperation is there to talk about, when the West has trampled all those unshakeable values of the globalisation that speakers on the podium talked so much about, trying to convince us that they would give everyone equal access to the goods of modern civilisation?

Where is the inviolability of property, the presumption of innocence, freedom of expression, access to information, fair competition in markets under fair and constant rules?

The Secretary-General speaks of global cooperation at the very moment when the countries of the West have unleashed a veritable war of sanctions against more than half, if not the majority, of the countries of the world, and the US dollar, promoted as an asset and a good for all humanity, has been crudely turned into a weapon.

<...>

It is not late to breathe new life into the United Nations. But this can be achieved through restoration of trust based on the charter principle – sovereign equality of all states – rather than out-of-touch summits and declarations. However, while the trust is undermined, including through actions by the West to create its subordinate narrow formats to resolve crucial issues bypassing the UN such as control over the Internet or determination of legal frameworks to use AI technologies. These issues touch upon the future of the entire humanity and they have to be considered on a universal basis, without discrimination and aspiration to achieve unilateral benefits. Thus, everything has to be agreed on a fair basis involving all UN members.

Key points:

• The world faces massive challenges which require united efforts rather than confrontation and desire of global domination.
• It is obvious for the world majority that confrontation and hegemonism do not solve a single global problem. They just artificially restrain the impartial process of forming a multipolar world.
• Russia will always be on the side of collective work, truth and law, peace and cooperation in the interests of reviving the ideals laid down by the founding fathers.
• The unprecedented level of hypocrisy and aggressiveness of the western policy against Russia not only brings to naught the idea of global cooperation promoted by the Secretary General.
The UN Secretariat cannot remain aloof from efforts to establish the truth in situations that directly affect global security and must act impartially in accordance with Art. 100 of the Charter, acting impartially and avoiding the temptation to play into the hands of certain states, especially those who openly call for the world to be divided into a flowering garden and a jungle, or for a democratic table to be set for dinner and those on the menu instead of cooperation.
• A more equitable world order unconditionally presupposes increased representation of the Global South in the UN Security Council. We reaffirm our position in support of Brazil and India provided a positive decision is reached in the framework of the well-known initiatives of the African Union.

❗️ The decision not to call Sergei and Yulia Skripal to give oral evidence for the Dawn Sturgess inquiry demonstrates the British authorities’ obstinacy in concealing our citizens.

Russia is thus denied its legitimate right to know the truth about its nationals’ wellbeing and legal status, and the actual circumstances of the provocation used by London to launch the massive anti-Russian campaign six years ago.

We will continue pressing the British authorities on these matters.

💬 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: The 'track record' of those who demand that the rest of the world play by their rules should not be forgotten. The invasion of Afghanistan and the inglorious twenty-year presence of a well-known coalition there was accompanied…
🎙 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the General Debate of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly (New York, 28 September 2024)

💬 Sergey Lavrov: The West not only fails to seek the global cooperation, but in its doctrinal documents openly and harshly accuses Russia and China of creating threats to its dominance.

The goal of the strategic defeat of Russia is declared there: just as London and Washington did in May 1945, when (before the end of the Second World War) they developed Operation Unthinkable to destroy the Soviet Union. This was kept a deep secret, but today's US-UK strategists do not hide their intentions.

For now they are counting on defeating Russia with the hands of the illegitimate neo-Nazi Kiev regime, but they are also readying Europe to throw itself into this suicidal venture.

I won’t even talk here about the senselessness and dangers of the very idea of trying to fight to victory with a nuclear power, which is what Russia is. <...>

The unprecedented level of arrogance and aggressiveness of Western policy towards Russia not only negates the idea of "global cooperation" promoted [by the UN], but increasingly jeopardizes the functioning of the entire system of global governance.

If the West does not stop, everyone will have to deal with the heavy consequences.

Confrontation and hegemonism do not solve a single global problem.

They just artificially restrain the impartial process of forming a multipolar world order which will rest on the equality of rights of big and small nations, respect the value of a human person, equality of men and women, right of the people to determine their own fate themselves.

🗓 As Black History Month begins in the UK, we remember that Russia's connection with people of African origin and descent is altogether different from that of many Old World countries.

Russia never participated in African colonisation and slave trade. Openly racist ideology used to justify enslavement by some European empires never gained a foothold in Russia.

At the time of the Tzars, those Africans fleeing from captivity would gain freedom upon entry, as was provided by a specific decree, and some would go on to become rather successful in their career, business and social life.

Their experiences varied in scale. Actor Ira Aldridge gathered crowds and garnered acclaim from the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. Abram Gannibal became Peter the Great’s godson and rose to the position of Russian Army’s chief engineer.

Many of them received recognition, appreciated the relative hospitality and left a lasting legacy.

🌍 Later, this progressive connection was to develop and broaden as the Soviet Union vigorously promoted internationalism and decolonisation.

❗️ The most recent baseless anti-Russian allegations, accompanied by the consistently amateurish choice of words by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, illustrate the growing "personal mission" creep at the core of the Labour Government’s foreign policy.

Instead of delivering on the electorate's mandate for national change and global stature the new government appears to be retreating into the tired anti-Russian signalling of its Conservative predecessors.

Bereft of focus and ideas it lashes out against mythical "pro-Kremlin" hackers with meaningless "sanctions".

☝️ Predictably, the outcome will prove to be as inglorious as that reaped by the former disastrous Conservative cabinet.

The UK Foreign Secretary may find it enlightening to learn that Russia had on numerous occasions offered to engage with the UK in fighting cybercrime along professional bilateral and multilateral channels.

These proposals were invariably shot down by London, with scant attention paid to the ensuing potential vulnerabilities for Britain’s security in the cyberdomain.

Russian Foreign Ministry's statement regarding Israel's invasion of Lebanon

▪️ In the early hours of Tuesday, October 1, Israel launched a ground operation in Lebanon. <...>

There are reports of dozens of Lebanese civilian casualties. The combined Israeli invasion involving all branches of the military gives us reason to believe that the death toll will continue to rise.

It is clear that this move by Israel’s military and political leadership, following the assassination of several Hezbollah leaders, will lead to further escalation of in the Middle East.

❗️ Russia strongly condemns the attack on Lebanon and urges Israeli authorities to immediately cease hostilities, withdraw troops from Lebanese territory and actively pursue peaceful solutions to the Middle East conflict.

We express our solidarity with the leadership and people of friendly Lebanon, a nation that has been subjected to armed aggression, and offer our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.

📰 Article by Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov “On the Circumstances of the Division of Austria and Germany into Occupation Zones,” published in the Bulletin of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (№3 (91), 2024)

✍️ As the great Russian historian Vasily Klyuchevsky said, “History is not a teacher but an overseer. It does not teach anyone; it merely punishes those who haven’t learnt their lessons.”

Therefore, it seems appropriate to review some chapters of our history ahead of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory, particularly in the context of the current international and foreign policy realities. 👇

<...>

The Westerners (Anglo-Saxons) refused to recognise the Soviet Union as an equal party to the post-war settlement until 1943. However, the Allies’ interest in the future of Germany after its defeat in the war grew with every change on the Soviet-German front. <...>

The Soviet Union improved its military standing further after defeating the Nazi troops in the Battle of Kursk. This led to a growing awareness in London and Washington that ignoring Soviet interests when making decisions that affected all Allies could be dangerous.

During the Tehran Conference on December 1, 1943, Stalin explained that “the Ukrainian territories should be assigned to Ukraine, and the Byelorussian territories to Byelorussia.” Likewise, the Soviet Union considered that it would be correct for Poland to regain control of its ancestral territories in the west. UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill proposed that “the home of the Polish state and nation should be between the so-called Curzon Line and the line of the Oder, including for Poland East Prussia and Oppeln.” <...>

In 1944, the Red Army won a number of major victories over Germany and the Axis powers. The westward movement of the frontline and the growing might of the Soviet Union showed that the Red Army could potentially defeat Nazi Germany without the Allies’ assistance. This led to a major change in their views on the future of Germany between the Tehran and Yalta conferences. The West began to act not only to defeat Germany but also to contain the Soviet Union.

The West began to act not only to defeat Germany but also to contain the Soviet Union. <...>

When the Yalta Conference was held in Crimea on February 4−11, 1945, the Red Army was barely 60 kilometres from Berlin. The Anglo-Saxon circles started thinking about forming a bloc of West European states after the war, with Germany as one of its members. This rendered the Anglo-Saxon plans for Germany’s de-industrialisation and division irrelevant. <...>

On February 5, 1945, Stalin openly asked the Allies in Yalta if they supported the disintegration of Germany following its defeat. He reminded them that the US and British governments had voiced such plans twice, in Tehran in 1943 and during the Soviet-British talks in Moscow in October 1944. The US and British leaders reaffirmed their principled stance on Germany’s disintegration. As a result, the Soviet Union supported the Allies’ idea of adding the following phrase to Article 12 of the declaration regarding the defeat of Germany: “The… Allied Governments will take such steps, including the complete disarmament, demilitarisation and dismemberment of Germany, as they deem requisite for future peace and security.”

The Berlin (Potsdam) Conference (July 17 — August 2, 1945) became the last stage in the joint effort by the heads of the anti-Hitler coalition. <...> The Potsdam Conference’s biggest achievements centred on its resolutions on the German issue. In fact, they recognised the German state within its new borders as a single economic and political entity, despite serious disagreements on matters dealing with the restoration of a centralised governance framework.

<...>

The post-war settlement in Europe, with the resolution of the German and Austrian issues as its important, if not crucial, part, was an example of the successful harmonisation of state interests based on mutual respect and goodwill.

🎙 Excerpt from Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova's weekly briefing on topical foreign policy issues (2 October 2024)

💬 We have taken note of the article published in the Spectator on September 21, 2024, titled It’s Time to Let Ukraine Join NATO. In it, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with apparent seriousness, claims that granting Kiev NATO membership could send a "message to the Kremlin" and bring "faith, hope, and clarity" to the Ukrainian people. Notably absent, however, is any mention of love.

Such provocative remarks serve only to incite direct NATO involvement in an armed conflict with Russia.

Boris Johnson appears indifferent to the potential consequences, showing little regard for the lives of millions of people.

His cynicism was evident in April 2022 in Kiev, when he ordered that negotiations with Russia must be stopped and military operations must continue regardless of the casualties, up to the last Ukrainian.

☝️ This is the same Boris Johnson who claimed to have a deep affection for Russia, citing his name and education as reasons for his admiration. The global community must realise that personalities like Johnson and others from Western nations are pushing the world to the huge catastrophe.

We suggest he take a closer look at the recent statements made by President Vladimir Putin regarding our response to any potential NATO actions aimed at striking deep into our territory.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s article for Russia in Global Affairs magazine «The UN must recover its central role in coordinating actions by nations» (October 4, 2024)

💬 The 79th Session of the UN General Assembly has recently completed the general debate, where President Vladimir Putin tasked me to represent the Russian Federation.

Does the Pact for the Future have a future?

Held as usual in the last week of September, the UN’s High-Level Week included the so-called Summit of the Future. The idea to convene it came from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Russia has met this idea with understanding considering that the UN is sinking deeper and deeper into a crisis, and something has to be done about it. Russian diplomats joined efforts to prepare this meeting and acted in a sincere and honest way, even if we did not have any illusions in this regard. In fact, there were quite a few major UN events in the past which failed to go beyond bombastic declarations that were forgotten soon after their adoption.

<...>

In 2015, the UN Summit on Sustainable Development adopted grand plans to fight poverty and inequality. In the end, they turned out to be empty promises in the face of the unwillingness of the Western countries to give up their neo-colonial practices of siphoning off the riches of the world for their own benefit. <...>

The current UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, just like Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon before him, has put forward an initiative under the slogan of giving a new start and resetting global cooperation.

This is a wonderful idea. Who could disagree?

But what global cooperation is there to talk about, when the West has trampled all those unshakeable values of globalisation we have been hearing about from everywhere for so many years. These perorations were designed to convince us that they would give everyone equal access to the goods of modern civilisation. Where is the inviolability of property, the presumption of innocence, freedom of expression, access to information, fair market competition under fair and constant rules?

How can we discuss global cooperation when the Western countries have unleashed a real war of sanctions against more than half, if not the majority, of the countries of the world, and the US dollar has been crudely turned into a weapon against undesirable countries? <...>

Key talking points:

It is not too late to give the UN a new lease on life.

• It has gotten to the point where the West wants to turn the UN into an instrument for attaining itself-seeking goals.

• [The West is] hindering the badly needed change in the system of forming the UN Secretariat, where the key posts have been seized and are “inherited” by representatives of the Western minority.

There must be an honest discussion by all UN member states, and not like a process in which the Pact for the Future was prepared – without a single plenary session of talks attended by all countries.

• Establishing a space of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia is crucial amid the all-encompassing processes unfolding in the macro-region.

• Our initiative is based on the understanding of the need for states and multilateral organisations of the Eurasian region to assume responsibility for ensuring their own security under the ‘Eurasian solutions to Eurasian problems’ formula.

***

❗️ Today, the international community once again faces massive challenges, just like during World War II, which require united efforts rather than confrontation and desire of global dominance. Russia will always advocate collective efforts, truth and the rule of law, peace and cooperation in the interests of reviving the ideals set forth by the UN’s founding fathers.

🇺🇳 Working for the honest balance of the legitimate national interests of all countries, we can bring to life the purpose of the #UN as stated in its Charter: “To be a centre for harmonising the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.”

🎙 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview to American Newsweek Magazine (7 October 2024)

Question: As the Ukraine conflict continues, how different is Russia's position than in 2022 and how are the costs of conflict being weighed against the progress made toward strategic objectives?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Our position is widely known and remains unchanged. Russia is open to a political and diplomatic settlement that should remove the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.

It should aim to end the conflict rather than achieve a ceasefire. The West should stop supplying weapons, and Kiev should end the hostilities. Ukraine should return to its neutral, non-bloc and non-nuclear status, protect the Russian language, and respect the rights and freedoms of its citizens.

The Istanbul Agreements initialled on 29 March 2022 by the Russian and Ukrainian delegations could serve as a basis for the settlement. They provide for Kiev's refusal to join NATO and contain security guarantees for Ukraine while recognizing the realities on the ground at that moment. Needless to say, in over two years, these realities have considerably changed, including in legal terms.

On 14 June, President Vladimir Putin listed prerequisites for the settlement as follows:

🔸 complete Ukrainian army's withdrawal from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions;
🔸 recognition of territorial realities as enshrined in the Russian Constitution;
🔸 neutral, non-bloc, non-nuclear status for Ukraine;
🔸 its demilitarization and denazification;
🔸 securing the rights, freedoms and interests of Russian-speaking citizens;
🔸 and removal of all sanctions against Russia.

Kiev responded to this statement by an armed incursion into the Kursk Oblast on 6 August. Its patrons – the US and other NATO countries – seek to inflict a «strategic defeat» on Russia. Under the circumstances, we have no choice but to continue our special military operation until the threats posed by Ukraine are removed.

❗️ The costs of the conflict are greatest for Ukrainians, who are ruthlessly pushed by their own authorities to the war to be slaughtered there. For Russia, it is about defending its people and vital security interests.

Unlike Russia, the US keeps ranting about some sort of "rules," "way of life" and the like, apparently poorly understanding where Ukraine is and what the stakes in this war are.

Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova’s comment on Kiev regime using and planning to use chemical weapons

⚠️ Ukrainian armed formations continue to use toxic chemicals (chlorine, ammonia, ammonium nitrate, and sulfuric acid) against Russian military units, civilians, and local administration officials. These include substances listed under Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) schedules 2 (BZ) and 3 (chloropicrin) and the RCAs.

This behaviour is enabled by political backing and approval coming from Washington, Berlin, London, and Paris.

Russian experts have documented Ukraine's breaches of CWC provisions, as well as violations of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances.

Ukrainian armed formations also pose an environmental threat to chemical plants in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and the Sumy, Kharkov, and Odessa regions.

The West has created an atmosphere of impunity that emboldens the Kiev regime as it proceeds to perpetrate larger-scale crimes involving toxic chemicals.

We have credible information that, with Western support, Ukraine plans to stage a series of anti-Russia provocations in the special military operation zone. Preparations are underway to fabricate evidence to accuse Russia of CWC violations during combat operations. <...>

The motive behind this campaign is clear. No international legal standard will stop NATO countries from pursuing their stated goal of achieving a "strategic defeat" for Russia, especially when it involves chemical provocations under false flag, as used for long years in Syria.

Moreover, Ukraine’s close ties with Islamist-affiliated terrorist groups and nationalist-extremist groups in the Middle East and Africa underscore the very real threat of "chemical" terrorism coming from Ukrainian special services.

☝️ We caution Washington and its allies against "playing with fire," so as not to irreparably damage the CWC framework established in 1997.

💬 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: The world order needs be adjusted to the current realities.

Today the world is living through the "multipolar moment". Shifting towards the multipolar world order is a natural part of power rebalancing, which reflects objective changes in the world economy, finance and geopolitics.

The West waited longer than the others, yet it has also started to realize that this process is irreversible.

We are talking about strengthening new centres of power and decision-making in the Global South and East.

🤝 Instead of seeking hegemony, these centres acknowledge the importance of sovereign equality and civilizational diversity and support mutually beneficial cooperation and respect for each other's interests.

Multi-polarity manifests itself in the increasing role of regional associations, such as the EAEU, SCO, ASEAN, African Union, CELAC and others. BRICS has become a model of multilateral diplomacy. The UN should remain a forum for aligning the interests of all the countries.

We believe that all states, including the US, should comply with their obligations on an equal basis with others rather than disguise their legal nihilism with mantras of their exceptionality.

☝️ Here we are supported by the majority of countries, which see how international law is violated with complete impunity in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, just the way it had earlier been violated in Kosovo, Iraq, Libya and many other places.

❗️ The Russian Embassy emphatically rejects the unsubstantiated allegations by Director of MI-5 Ken McCallum.

By virtue of his profession Mr McCallum is well aware that the Russian Federation is the real target of proxy and mercenary warfare as well as hostile intelligence operations, conducted in the context of the Ukraine crisis by NATO countries, including the UK.

The scare tactics he seeks to employ are clearly aimed at sustaining the ebbing public support for the Kiev regime which is quickly draining the UK's finances and arsenals.

Embassy comment on London's anti-Russian restrictive measures

Imposing unilateral restrictive measures against Russia has become a routine exercise for London preoccupied with its confrontational agenda. These measures have gained neither legitimacy nor effectiveness.

However, judging by the language used by the FCDO in its official materials, and especially by that of the Foreign Secretary, the generation of sanctions seems to be accompanied by a decline in professionalism, now substituted by political grandstanding.

The Embassy is perplexed by the pretext used on this occasion, namely our country’s alleged "flagrant disregard" for the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

❗️ In fact, Russia remains unequivocally committed to upholding norms of international law, including the provisions of the Geneva Conventions and the CWC. International inspections have clearly confirmed that Russian Armed Forces do not possess chemical weapons.

References to the alleged use of the mythical "Novichok" are quite preposterous. Following the Salisbury provocation in 2018 it was the UK side that refused to follow established procedures and cooperate with Russia to uncover the truth. Subsequently, London never made public the results of their investigation, employing the story to instigate a large-scale anti-Russian campaign.

This time around the British authorities are taking their hypocrisy to new levels. While making groundless accusations against Russia, they are overlooking the many instances of confirmed use of banned toxic substances and chemical agents by the Kiev regime's militarised units.

This is not limited to chloropicrin, used by Ukrainian nationalists in Odessa during the tragic siege of the Trade Unions House in 2014. Ukrainian armed formations are systematically employing toxic chemicals, including those listed in CWC schedules, against the Russian Armed Forces, local civilians, and administration officials.

Furthermore, Russia has compelling evidence that such substances, among others, are being supplied to Ukraine with Western assistance.

☝️ In this context we cannot but regard the current British insinuations as an attempt to create a "smokescreen" to conceal London’s anti-Russian intentions.

We are well-aware from trustworthy sources that the Kiev regime is planning a series of provocations in the Special Military Operation zone with assistance by its Euro-Atlantic handlers, including the UK. The aim is to subsequently accuse Russia of violating the CWC in the execution of its military operations.

1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ years ago a one of a kind Russian artist, thinker and explorer Nikolai Rerikh (Nicholas Roerich) was born.

While his legacy, Russian at heart, is truly international, Rerikh did have a specific British connection.

His works were well known and praised in the UK since the 1900s. In 1919-1920, he and his family stayed in London, close to Hyde Park.

At the time Rerikh had major solo exhibitions organised, gave lectures, was involved in Diaghilev’s famous Saisons Russes and was welcomed and embraced by British artistic figures.

🤝 Interestingly, it was in London that he befriended Rabindranath Tagore, which contributed to their respective spiritual journeys.
