🎙 Key points from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions at a meeting with students and faculty of MGIMO University (Moscow, 2 September 2024)
• The globalisation, which the West pro-actively promoted for years, has been accepted as a method of interstate relations in the economy, technology and the financial sector. However, this globalisation model is now falling apart.
• It is crystal clear that the attempts of the Western nations to reverse the course of history and keep living at others’ expense as they did during the colonial era and the period of globalisation, are doomed to failure. However, Western politicians religiously continue to declare their exceptionalism.
• The essence of Western policy towards Russia has always been based on the assumption that our country is too strong and independent and that something must be done to change this, preferably by pulling it down.
• Today, all those who show independence and a will to defend their national interests within international law while refusing to play by Western rules, are under threat. It is clear, however, that these attempts are largely an agony of the West.
• Any unfriendly moves will still be met with a tough response. The ball is not in our court, it is up to those who set out to deliberately destroy their relations with Russia and demonise our land and our nation. <...> We will judge the West’s intentions by its actions, not by its demagogy.
• Looking at the history of any conflict after the establishment of the United Nations, you will see that neither the United States nor its allies applied the principle of sovereign equality. They didn't consider anyone their equal, and unfortunately, they don't.

🎙 Excerpt from President Vladimir Putin's remarks and answers to media questions at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok
On Ukraine's attacks on the Kursk region
💬 It is the sacred duty of Russia's Armed Forces to do everything possible for expelling the enemy from these territories and reliably protecting our citizens. Of course, the entire country should do its best to support the people. <...>
The enemy wanted to make us nervous, to start rushing around, to redeploy troops from one sector to another and to stop our offensive in key sectors, primarily Donbass. The liberation of Donbass is our high-priority goal.
Did the enemy succeed? No, it accomplished nothing.
First, our Armed Forces stabilised the situation and started gradually pushing the enemy from border territories.
Second, nothing hampers our offensive, and this is the most important thing. On the contrary, by redeploying its sufficiently large and well-trained units to border areas, the enemy weakened its positions in key sectors, and our troops expedited their offensive operations.
And last but not least, the enemy has been sustaining enormous losses in personnel and equipment. <...>
☝️ There is a risk of crushing the most crucial sectors of the front as the losses may lead to the entire armed forces losing combat capacity. This is exactly what we are trying to achieve.

Embassy comment on the most recent spike of the anti-Russian campaign in UK media
❗️ The Embassy has taken note of efforts by certain UK right-wing conservative forces, even though they have been relegated to the local political backstage, to persist in fuelling anti-Russian hysteria in sponsored media outlets.
On top of habitual twisted facts and fictional plots the last few days have seen the increased use of grotesque geopolitical constructs, punctuated with the obsession that Russia must be made to suffer a military defeat and collapse.
The reason for this delusional "episode" is, quite obviously, a combination of bad news for the Kiev regime and its handlers in London.
👉 Above all, the confident offensive action of the Russian Armed Forces in Donbass.
👉 The failure of the Kursk gamble, which has only revealed the terrorist inclinations of the marauding Ukrainian military.
👉 The feverish reshuffle in the Ukrainian top brass.
👉 Finally, the West's inability using sanctions traps and pseudo-judicial simulacra to hold back Russia's accelerating development and the augmentation of mutually beneficial relations between our country and its partners around the world. The Eastern Economic Forum, currently taking place in Vladivostok, provides ample evidence in this regard.
Of particular cynicism against this background are the soundbites produced by certain British politicians who bear personal responsibility for prolonging the conflict, such as former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in support of the total mobilisation of the Ukrainian population, including its youth.
These bloodthirsty exhortations seem to illustrate the determination of the London ideologues behind the "Ukrainian project" to buy time at any cost as it approaches its inevitable finale.
☝️ We are convinced that the British people do not share the irrational Russophobia, misguided exceptionalism and the sense of impunity that encourage certain figures of the local political establishment to incite the Kiev regime to wage a self-destructive "war to the last Ukrainian".

🎙 Excerpt from President Vladimir Putin's remarks and answers to media questions at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok
💬 We had practically achieved all the parameters of a possible peace agreement with representatives of the government in Kiev. Moreover, the head of Ukraine's negotiating delegation - who is still the leader of the ruling party's faction of the Ukrainian parliament - has signed off on these agreements. Of course, it was necessary to specify some points, but on the whole it was a signed official document.
But then Mr. Boris Johnson, the then-UK prime minister, arrived in Kiev – it is a known fact, and the UK authorities confirm it – so he came and ordered the Ukrainians to fight till the last Ukrainian, which is what is happening today, in order to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. But that's not happening.
The Ukrainian government said in public that had they performed what we had agreed on with them rather than obeyed their masters from other countries, the war would have come to an end long ago. But they have chosen a different path, and you can see the result.
Are we ready to negotiate with them? We have never refused it. However, not on the basis of some ephemeral demands but on the basis of the documents that were agreed and actually initialised in Istanbul.

#JournalistsSolidarityDay
🗓 September 8 marks the International Day of Solidarity of Journalists, established in 1958 by the decision of the IV Congress of the International Organization of Journalists in memory of the Czech correspondent Julius Fučík, executed by the Nazis in 1943.
💬 Maria Zakharova (from the briefing of the official representative of the Russia's Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova dated September 4, 2024):
This date serves as a reminder to the global community that a true journalist’s duty is to impartially and honestly present the real state of affairs to the public. Journalists are often at the forefront of crises and conflicts, sometimes risking their own lives to report on unfolding events and provide objective coverage rather than engaging in propaganda. This challenging and noble profession has long been defined by a strong international camaraderie with its own ethical standards and code of honour.
❗️We now witness a significant void where there should be statements, petitions, and declarations condemning the murders and terrorist attacks against Russian journalists, including those killed by the Kiev regime.
👉 Look at the far from complete list of politically motivated repressions against Russian media on the web portal of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the past 30 years, Westerners, being on the verge of interfering in our internal affairs, have been following the fates of Russian journalists and demanding that the Russian authorities take steps to investigate and protect them. Instantly, Russian journalists were transformed in the West from those who needed protection into those who should be persecuted, expelled, segregated and “marked.”
Speaking about Western unions of journalists, individual Western journalists and elites engaged in the harassment of their Russian colleagues, this is based on the fear of competition and the inability to withstand it (to say nothing about winning).
When Russia Today TV channel began broadcasting in German, the audience in Germany, Austria and other German-speaking countries felt it like a breath of fresh air, an alternative point of view, an opportunity to compare and make a choice in favour of their traditional media or subscribe to one more information resource.
❌ However, the interest in the Russian media broadcasting in German rose so much that became a challenge for German journalists who asked the FRG authorities to take measures against Russian journalists.
The conditions for media pluralism and free access to information keep on degrading in many “advanced democracies” and a worthy rebuff from Western media professionals is nowhere to be seen. The Baltic states actively continue to persecute unwanted journalists who dare to doubt whether the authorities’ policies are correct and express their point of view.
The Maia Sandu regime is following the well-trodden Russophobic path of the Baltic states, where they have deliberately deprived Russian-speaking residents of the country’s last sources of information by shutting down the broadcasting and rebroadcasting of Russian television channels and media outlets.
☝️ The permissiveness of the neoliberal pseudo-democracies is only gaining momentum against the background of solidarity inaction of not only relevant human rights organisations but also the journalistic community of the West itself.
Hopefully, there will be someone who will not only recall all the above problems on International Day of Solidarity, but also write and stage rallies in support of their colleagues and journalism.
***
Despite everything, on this day we congratulate all correspondents, editors, photo operators and other media industry workers who remain faithful to the ideals of journalistic solidarity, who are always ready to help the colleagues, even if their opinions differ.
🤝 For our part, we will continue to defend the rights of our journalists and call to account those who have illegally given themselves the authority to set rules and punish dissenters.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question of the Moscow.Kremlin.Putin programme (Vladivostok, September 8, 2024)
❓ Question: The Kiev regime renames everything. Now they are drafting a project of renaming the copeck to have nothing in common with the Russian language. Will it be possible to reverse everything happening there one day?
💬 Segey Lavrov: In general the Ukrainian people are brotherly to us – we don't just talk about it, we know it. Those, whom the West has brought to power [in Ukraine] through a coup d'état, are executing its order – to turn the country one more time into a Nazi threat for the Russian Federation.
It is already clear to everyone that it cannot be done. However, the convulsions and the agony, which we are now witnessing, including in the course of the “Kursk action” are evident to everyone. Our cause is just.

Embassy Comment on disinformation in the British media about the Russian Embassy School in London
❌ The Embassy is appalled by the slanderous article of September 6th in The Times (and subsequently in the Daily Mail) on the activities of the Russian Embassy School in London.
The flashy allegations of "militarisation" of the educational process, elevated to the headlines, are provocative in nature and based on the authors' deliberate distortion of information from publicly available documents regulating the activities of the school. This disinformation, in turn, is heavily laced with primitive Russophobic stereotypes.
The Russian Embassy School in London is a certified civil educational institution that provides services in full compliance with Russian and British legislation.
It has been operating for over half a century and did not cease to function even at the height of the Cold War. Its impeccable reputation is based on high educational standards, the exceptional professionalism of the faculty members and a tailored approach to pupils.
☝️ In their publications the relevant British media seem to be intent on destroying this reputation, which has been built up over decades.
This further highlights the steadily degrading journalistic standards of the once respectable British media. In an effort to sustain the fading anti-Russian campaign, which the local public has largely lost interest in, some reporters do not shy away from low-quality attacks on Russian schoolchildren, their parents and teachers.
This situation is in stark contrast to Russia, where conditions have been created and are maintained for the successful operation of a considerable number of English-language educational institutions.
❗️ The Embassy is obliged to consider this action in the context of bilateral Russia-UK relations as a violation of the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, as well as the basic norms of journalistic ethics, the principles of privacy and personal data protection.
