⚡️ Statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Member States in connection with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders
💬 We, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, as we approach the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders, honour the heroic deeds, courage, and unwavering fortitude displayed by the heroes during the Great Patriotic War.
Belarus was one of the first countries to be attacked by the Nazis in June 1941, enduring severe hardships. The Republic lost one-third of its population during the years of occupation.
▪️ Numerous towns and villages were burned down and destroyed, and dozens of death camps and other sites of mass destruction were established. The village of Khatyn, which was burned together with all its residents, stands as a symbol of the suffering endured by the Belarusian people.
The Nazis failed to break the fortitude and fighting spirit of the Belarusian people. <...> An unprecedented partisan and underground movement were organised on the territory of the republic, which made an invaluable contribution to driving out the enemy.
We take pride in the fact that thousands of people from our countries fought shoulder to shoulder with other nations to liberate Belarus from the Nazi invaders. We honour the memory of all Soviet citizens who gave their lives in fierce battles to free Belarus. Their bravery will forever be etched in history as an integral part of the fight against Nazism.
<...>
❗️Preserving the memory of the victory over Nazism, we firmly reject and condemn any attempts to revise the events and outcome of the Second World War. <...>
We call upon all states and nations to reject neo-Nazism and its ideology which justifies and glorifies Nazism and promotes racial, ethnic and religious intolerance. Any celebration or commemoration of the Nazi movement and former members of the Waffen-SS.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions following the meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council (Almaty, June 21, 2024)
💬 At the meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, we focused on preparations for the CSTO Summit scheduled for November of this year in Astana. <...>
During the discussions on the state of affairs in the world, we paid special attention to the agenda related to shaping a Eurasian security architecture that will replace the discredited Euro-Atlantic security arrangements. President of Russia Vladimir Putin focused on this in his remarks at the Foreign Ministry on June 14. <...>
In the same Eurasian interaction context, we have agreed to build up cooperation and joint practical projects with the CIS and the SCO. Among other things, there is a shared interest in using these organisations’ potential for more effective anti-terrorist actions.
✔️ In the context of the fight against terrorism and new challenges and threats, we have approved a draft programme to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border. <...> It will be submitted for approval to the heads of state.
✍️ A document has been signed, which provides an additional impetus to the CSTO’s peacekeeping activities, including in cooperation with the UN peacekeeping operations. This is a very promising line. We see much potential there.
We have agreed to step up biosecurity efforts at the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils and have created a coordination committee on the biological aspects of security. It is currently chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan. <...>
🇺🇳 On July 19, Russia will chair a UN Security Council meeting in New York on the council’s cooperation with the #CSTO, #CIS and the #SCO. <...> We have invited CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov to speak at that meeting.

🕯 June 22 marks the Day of Memory and Sorrow in Russia.
At dawn on June 2️⃣2️⃣, 1941, enemy aviation launched massive attacks on airfields, railway stations, Soviet naval bases and numerous cities along the entire western state border to a depth of up to 250-300 km.
This opened one of the most tragic chapters in our country’s history. The Great Patriotic War broke out.
Hitler had a lightning war in mind. Operation Barbarossa implied a crushing defeat of the Red Army and the defeat of the Soviet Union within a few months with the help of the hitherto faultless blitzkrieg tactics.
Romania, Italy and other countries joined Germany to form a united front against the Soviet Union.
However, the Red Army’s fierce resistance and the efforts of all Soviet people foiled the Third Reich’s plans.
🎙 The news about German invasion and the beginning of the war was announced over the radio. At noon on June 22 the People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs V.Molotov addressed the Soviet citizens with a phrase that went down in history:
“Ours is a righteous cause. The enemy shall be defeated. Victory will be ours”.
The Great Patriotic War lasted 1418 days and nights and ended on May 9, 1945 with the victory of the Soviet Union and the complete rout of the Nazi bloc.
❗️ The Soviet people perished amounts to 40% of all human losses in WWII, i.e. 26.6 million people! Of them, more than 8.7 million died in combat, 7.42 million were intentionally exterminated by the Nazis in the occupied territories, and over 4.1 million died from the atrocious conditions of the occupation regime.
• Since 2009, the day marked by the Candle of Memory nationwide action. Candles are lit throughout Russia in the silence of the night in memory of all those who died during the Great Patriotic War protecting our peaceful life.
Since 2020, an annual nationwide minute of silence has been held at 12:15 Moscow time the exact time when the Soviet government announced Nazi Germany’s invasion.

🕯 June 22 is one of the most tragic and sorrowful dates in the history of our country. Eighty-three years ago, the Great Patriotic War began, which lasted 1,418 days and claimed the lives of almost 27 million Soviet citizens.
On this day in 1941 at 3.30am, Nazi Germany attacked our country without a declaration of war. There were massive strikes on airfields, railway hubs and cities to a depth of 250-300 km from the state border. The Soviet-German front became the main front of the Second World War.
📻 "Our cause is just, the enemy will be defeated. Victory will be ours!" — these words from the address of the People's Commissar of Foreign Affairs Vyacheslav Molotov went down in history, inspired millions to fight the then seemingly unbeatable military machine of the Third Reich and, in the end, turned out to be prophetic. At the cost of irreplaceable losses, our country made a decisive contribution to the defeat of the Third Reich, liberated Europe from the Nazi plague and saved the world.
Eternal glory to those who perished for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!

⚔️ #OnThisDay in 1941, the heroic defence of the Brest Fortress commenced. Its defenders held an entire Wehrmacht division in position for almost a month. Today, the citadel remains a monument to the unbending will of those who were the first to stand in the way of the Nazi invaders.
When the Great Patriotic War broke out, the fortress primarily served as accommodations for personnel who would be required to defend it outside its walls if attacked. The garrison consisted of approximately 7,000 to 8,000 soldiers of over 30 ethnicities, mainly from units of the 6th and 42nd rifle divisions of the 28th Rifle Corps of the Red Army.
▪️ The fortress was one of the first to bear the brunt of the Nazi attack on June 22, 1941. At dawn it came under heavy enemy fire. Within hours, Soviet soldiers and their families found themselves surrounded by the enemy, cut off from the army and rear forces. Despite facing severe shortages of ammunition, food and water, they made the decision to fight to the end, transforming the fortress into a crucial stronghold.
Although the Nazi command had anticipated capturing the fortress within hours, they became ensnared for a week, resorting to incendiary ammunition, tear gas and 500-kg bombs in their attempts to break the will of the defenders.
The surviving Soviet soldiers engaged in acts of sabotage, with some attacks continuing until late July and even early August 1941. Most of the citadel’s defenders perished, but a small number managed to break through to the partisans or the frontline positions of the Red Army.
Brest was liberated on July 28, 1944, as the Red Army advanced during the Belorussian Offensive. The liberation took only two days. Soviet soldiers entered the fortress for the first time in three years of Nazi occupation. On the remaining walls, they discovered inscriptions left by their comrades. The most famous of these, dated July 20, 1941, was found in 1950: "I'm dying, but I won't surrender. Farewell, Motherland."
🎖A total of 200 fallen and surviving defenders of the Brest Fortress were awarded medals. A museum was established at the fortress in 1956, and a memorial complex opened in 1971. The best students from local schools have been standing guard by the Eternal Flame since then. The citadel was officially conferred the title of "Hero Fortress" in 1965.

🗓️ On June 23, 1944, 80 years ago, one of the most large scale & successful strategic offensives of the World War II began — Operation Bagration. In two months of fighting along a front line of more than 1100 km the Red Army reached the Elgava — Dobele — Siauliai — Suwalki — Prague (suburb of Warsaw) — Vistula River line by August 29, liberating the Belarusian SSR, parts of the Lithuanian & Latvian SSRs, and eastern areas of Poland from the Nazi invaders.
By the summer of 1944, the Red Army had managed to push German forces away from Leningrad, liberate Crimea & right-bank Ukraine, and reach the Romanian border. However, the Nazi occupiers still controlled a significant part of Belarus, where they had spent three years committing atrocities: burning entire villages with their inhabitants, systematically exterminating millions of civilians & prisoners of war.
🔴 From June 23 to 28, 1944, Soviet Army began an offensive along the front line from Polotsk to Mozyr. It was carried out simultaneously in six sectors.
🔴 Red Army units successfully broke through the German defences and began rapid advances. By July 3, Minsk and Vitebsk were liberated.
🔴 By the end of July, almost all of Belarus was liberated.
⚔️ Several large German groups were surrounded and destroyed: Vitebsk & Bobruisk, then Orsha & Mogilev troops, causing enormous irreparable losses to the enemy.
☝️ As a result of the operation, Army Group Centre was defeated, major rivers Berezina, Neman, & Vistula were crossed, and important bridgeheads on their western banks were captured. The front line moved westwards up to 550–600 km.
🎖 Soviet soldiers and commanders who took part in the operation demonstrated mass heroism, brilliant preparation, & the highest level of military art. Over 1,500 Red Army soldiers of various nationalities were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and hundreds of thousands received orders and medals.

Today at 12.15, a terrorist missile strike by five U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles equipped by cluster warheads was deliberately delivered at Sevastopol.
The alerted air defence units intercepted four U.S.-made ATACMS missiles. The explosion of the fragmentation warhead of the fifth U.S.-made missile in the air led to high number of casualties among peaceful residents of Sevastopol.
The American specialists input all flight tasks in the U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles on the basis of data of the U.S. satellite reconnaissance.
That is why Washington is mostly responsible for the deliberate missile strike at peaceful residents of Sevastopol by delivering this weaponry to Ukraine, as well as the Kiev regime, from the territory of which the strike was launched.
Such actions are not going to be left unanswered.

💬 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
Following the terrorist attack perpetrated by the Kiev regime aimed at civilians in Sevastopol, the UN Secretariat responded by stating the following: “As always we aspire to putting an end to war in line with the UN Charter and the resolutions of the General Assembly.”
This sounds more as a confession of one’s uselessness, rather than a comment on a tragedy. Basically, they could have just said “we stand for everything good and oppose everything bad” once and for all and use this phrasing regardless of the matter in question.
It would have been a different matter if the UN Secretariat fulfilled its technical functions without getting into politics. It is totally the opposite! For many years all statements and actions of the Secretariat regarding Ukraine have been totally politicised and without exception of anti-Russian nature.
Since you started playing on the political field, would you be so kind as to notice civilians on a beach being targeted & murdered by the Kiev regime using US weapons, and condemn this act of terrorism?!

⚡️ Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the Kiev regime’s recurrent terrorist attacks on Energodar
💬 On June 19 and 21 the Kiev regime launched new terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles against Energodar satellite city in the vicinity of Zaporozhskaya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) where its personnel and their families live.
☝️ This is not for the first time that the Zelensky’s regime vividly demonstrates its terrorist nature and complete disregard of peaceful nuclear facilities’ safety <...>.
Since the ZNPP was reunited with the Russian nuclear family, our country has been exerting much effort to create not only proper work conditions for the plant’s personnel but to raise the socio-economic level of life in Energodar and restore the relevant infrastructure. We do everything necessary to ensure that the people who live there have everything they need and are protected against criminal provocations by the Kiev junta.
In addition to the physical threat created by regular shelling, the ZNPP personnel and their families, including children, are subject to constant psychological pressure. They receive letters from Ukrainian special services containing threats to their lives and health. It seems that the Kiev regime is not going to abandon its policy of threats and emotionally draining blackmail against the ZNPP staff.
The systemic nature of the Kiev regime’s attacks both on the ZNPP and other Russian power engineering facilities shows an established and purposeful trend of inflicting an inacceptable damage to the Russian Federation economy and creating risks of technogenic accidents that may jeopardise nuclear safety on the entire European continent.
This way the Kiev regime continues to prove its terrorist nature.
❗️ Considering the inability of the Zelensky’s regime to negotiate, our country will take all necessary measures to make it impossible for it to deliver such strikes.
