Hailing from a truly amazing region of Russia, one of the most beautiful places on earth, Adelina, Matvei and Ulyana share insights into the role of dogs in everyday life and history of their home region and the unique traditions of dog sledding.

🌋 Kamchatka is home to 300 volcanoes, 29 of which are active. The most famous of these is Klyuchevskaya Sopka, which at an impressive 4,750 metres is the highest active volcano in Eurasia.

💧 Kamchatka is famous for its unique geysers. The Geyser Valley is one of the most amazing places in Russia and the world. This small area is impressively rich in hot springs.

🐻 The region’s diverse nature supports a variety of ecosystems and wildlife, including brown bears, bighorn sheep, reindeer and sea lions. Kamchatka bears are particularly large and numerous.

🐟 Kamchatka has earned a reputation as the salmon capital of the world, with its rivers and lakes teeming with this type of fish. Every year millions of salmon come to spawn, making it Russia's largest fishing centre.

🏞 Kamchatka is proud of its many nature reserves, which cover almost 30 per cent of its total area. The most famous of these are the Kronotsky Nature Biosphere Reserve and the South Kamchatka Federal Game Reserve, both of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

🌿 Kamchatka is also famous for its rich flora. Forty rare and endangered plant species are found around mineral hot springs and fumaroles, four of which are endemic to Kamchatka.

🇷🇺🇹🇷 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan (June 11, 2024).

💬 Vladimir Putin: I am aware that you were in Nizhny Novgorod and met with foreign ministers from the #BRICS countries who came to Russia in the run-up to the BRICS summit. We welcome Turkiye’s interest in BRICS.

Of course, we will support this interest and the push to be closer to the countries of this association and to address common problems, especially so since the situation calls for, I believe, a more thorough and close interaction, particularly for the countries of the region which we live in, in order to act effectively across all areas both in terms of ensuring security and in terms of economic cooperation and in order to adjust our actions in the international arena. Everything that I just mentioned is one way or another among our priorities which we work on painstakingly.

🤝 We note with satisfaction progress in our relations with the Republic of Türkiye. All of that is happening, of course, under the leadership and with the direct support of our friend, the President of the Republic of Türkiye.

<...>

We are grateful to our Turkish friends for their commitment to contribute to the settlement of crisis situations, including the Ukraine crisis. I would also like to thank you, in your former capacity, for supporting the negotiating process and for providing the Istanbul venue for negotiations with Ukraine to resolve the crisis.

<...>

☝️ Türkiye and Russia played a significant role in settling the Syria crisis, and I think continuing the Astana format will be the right thing to do, to fight terrorism, and to do everything we can to return the situation back to normal in this most important area.

Overall, the situation is unfolding in a positive manner. Please convey my best regards to President Erdogan. I hope that soon, in July, I think July 3–4, he will arrive in Astana, as far as I know, as part of an international event, and we will have an opportunity to sit down and discuss all current issues.

🇷🇺On June 12, the Russian Embassy in London held a reception on the occasion of Russia Day.

The event, which traditionally takes place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, was attended by over 300 people.

🤝The Embassy welcomed heads of diplomatic missions from most CIS countries, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Among the guests were representatives of international organisations based in London, British political and business circles who appreciate our country, public organisations, and the media. Russian compatriots, including representatives of Russian-speaking educational and cultural institutions, also took an active part in the event.

During the reception foreign guests and our compatriots had the opportunity not only to admire masterpieces of Russian and Soviet painting and sculpture, extensively displayed in the historic Embassy building, but also to sample traditional dishes of our national cuisine.

💬Excerpts from the address of Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin:

︎Our country’s history teaches us the virtues of patience and fortitude in overcoming any challenges. Right now, in order to ensure normal development, Russia needs to repel threats to its security and uphold its national interests. We know what to do and we are doing it. Our entire multiethnic nation knows what needs to be done. Our country has become more consolidated and committed to this goal, as recent Presidential elections have demonstrated.

︎The world is undergoing truly tectonic changes. The times when a tiny group of nations could impose their will and dictate to others how to live and what to do, are receding irrevocably into the past. This is an objective reality. A polycentric world, devoid of hegemony and colonialism, is in the making. Russia is one of the actors paving the way towards this new reality.

︎Needless to say, we face huge resistance from our opponents. They have become accustomed to acting in line with the logic of their own exclusivity and the so-called rules-based world order invented by themselves.

︎Russia is open to honest cooperation with all those who are ready for such cooperation. Our economy, despite external pressures, is developing successfully and offers tremendous opportunities for investors.

Today the United Kingdom is in the lead of the struggle against Russians and Russia. This is indeed a major strategic mistake that will be incredibly difficult to rectify. We regret it and hope that common sense, which is so inherent to the British, will someday prevail over short-lived political interests. In any case we are still in possession of our foundations – four centuries of bilateral relations and some notable accomplishments in the past.

☝️I am sure that as long as people in what we call the Foggy Albion speak Russian, read Dostoevsky, recite the poetry of Pushkin and listen to Tchaikovsky, Russia and Britain stand a better chance of understanding each other again once more.
