⚡Press release on Russian-US consultations in Istanbul
On February 27, expert-level Russian-US consultations between Director of the Foreign Ministry Department of North America Alexander Darchiev and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Sonata Coulter convened in Istanbul.
The discussions centred on normalising the operation of diplomatic missions of both countries, building upon recent bilateral engagements at the highest and high levels.
In accordance with the instructions from the foreign policy leadership of both countries, the Parties meticulously explored avenues to overcome numerous irritants inherited from previous US administrations. Joint measures were agreed upon to ensure the unfettered mutual financing of Russian and US diplomatic missions’ operations and to establish appropriate conditions for diplomats to fulfil their official duties.
The consultations also addressed issues related to Russian diplomatic properties in the United States, with a particular focus on the restitution of six premises unlawfully seized between 2016 and 2018. The necessity of achieving tangible outcomes to foster conditions conducive to improving bilateral relations, in the interests of both nations, was underscored. In particular, the American side was encouraged to consider the restoration of direct air service between the two countries.
❗️The discussions proceeded in a substantive and business-like manner, with both Parties agreeing to continue dialogue through this channel.

🇷🇺🇲🇲Statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin following Russian-Myanmar talks (March 4, 2025)💬President Putin: Our countries are bound by truly strong bonds of friendship, traditions of support, and mutual assistance. All of this was once again clearly confirmed during the substantive and constructive negotiations that we held with Mr. Min Aung Hlaing. <...>
The new Joint Statement reaffirms the key principles of Russian-Myanmar partnership.
📈 This includes further deepening cooperation in trade and investment. By the end of last year, trade had increased by approximately 40%, reaching nearly $2 billion. We are ready to work on expanding mutually beneficial trade.
Credit and financial cooperation is also taking shape. The intergovernmental commission is working actively, with its latest session held recently in the capital of Myanmar.
Energy constitutes a strategic area of bilateral cooperation, with Russia reliably supplying the Republic with essential energy resources. Last year, over 90% of oil on the Myanmar market originated from our country.
We are exploring opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector across other avenues, including the use of renewable energy sources. The intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a low-capacity nuclear power plant, signed earlier today, paves the way for providing Myanmar’s economy with affordable and environmentally friendly energy. This will serve as a strong impetus for further economic growth, the creation of thousands of new jobs, and the development of highly skilled national personnel.
Joint projects are also being implemented in industry and advanced technologies. With Russia’s assistance, a ground-based earth remote sensing complex has been launched in the Republic. Mr Min Aung Hlaing plans to visit the Progress Rocket Space Centre in Samara, where he will have the opportunity to learn about the achievements of Russian cosmonautics.
Cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere is similarly dynamic. Plans include the opening of a Russian Cultural Centre in Myanmar and the construction of the country’s first Orthodox church. In turn, two Myanmar cultural and religious centres are already operational in Russia. <...>
🇷🇺 Mr. Min Aung Hlaing has been invited to participate in the celebrations marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9. Pursuant to existing agreements, a contingent of Myanmar’s Armed Forces will join Russian military personnel in the ceremonial parade on Red Square.
During the negotiations, current international issues were also addressed. The positions of Russia and Myanmar on many of these matters are virtually identical or very close. We coordinate efforts on key multilateral platforms and advocate for the peaceful and sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific region. Russia and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar are actively engaged in security cooperation as partners.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry Statement regarding French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech
💬 In the run-up to the EU summit dedicated to Ukraine crisis and confrontation with Russia, and clearly trying to set the tone for the upcoming gathering, French President Macron made an extremely aggressive anti-Russia speech calling our country, as he did on multiple previous occasions, a “threat to France and Europe.” Without providing any evidence, as he usually does, he accused our country of all the deadly sins from cyber attacks and interference in elections to our alleged plans to attack other countries in Europe.
We have heard him come up with similar fabrications and provocative claims before as well. Perhaps, this was the first time he laid them out in such an intense and irreconcilable manner which made them sound like a catechism for the Russophobic action programme.
Notably, the French leader has repeatedly made public his plans to call President Putin on the telephone to discuss ways to achieve peaceful settlement in Ukraine and to ensure security in Europe. The Russian side has always been open to discuss these matters. However, Macron, this time again, confined himself to clamorous public rhetoric.
The French President is trying hard to convince the French citizens of an “existential threat” coming from Russia. In fact, Russia has never threatened France, but, instead, helped it defend its independence and sovereignty in two world wars. However, Macron’s statements, in fact, pose a threat to Russia.
The French leader evokes his country’s foreign policy traditions, but his rhetoric runs counter to them and the ideological legacy of Gaullism. He cannot be unaware of the fact that France’s high standing in the international arena has for decades relied on his predecessors’ push to play a balancing role in international affairs and to contribute to alleviating tensions between Russia and the West.
Back in the day, de Gaulle put forward the concept of indivisible security from the Atlantic to the Urals which relied on building consensus and being mindful of the opinions and interests of all countries on our continent. As opposed to that, we are witnessing official Paris depart from these fundamental principles of French foreign policy.
President Macron’s speech is all about providing security guarantees for Ukraine. Not a word, however, was said about security guarantees for Russia.
Notably, the lack of such guarantees and the West’s never-ending attempts to create threats to our country, primarily through unbridled expansion of NATO, which ran counter to promises that were made to us, as well as the push to turn Ukraine into an anti-Russian bridgehead, has led to the current crisis. We have repeatedly and over many years notified Western leaders, including Mr Macron, about it.
This is yet another instance that reiterates our conviction that Paris remains unwilling to reckon with our country’s vital interests and is focused on “forcing” us into compliance with the decisions that suit the West. Rest assured that this will never happen.
<...>
❗️ Macron’s speech amounted to masks off completely, showing who’s leading the “party of war.” It also showed who’s really opposing the ceasefire and betting on continuing and escalating the Ukraine conflict.

On the situation around Ukraine
After the EU and Great Britain summit in London on March 2nd, we are witnessing a relentless torrent of so-called “peace plans”. Behind the hollow slogans of the latest Europe’s pseudo-peacemaking initiatives lies a cynical agenda — not only prolonging the conflict in Ukraine and dragging it into a dangerous escalation, but also torpedoing any real negotiation efforts.
Those who continue to pump Ukraine full of weapons and bankroll the terrorist activities of its militants are just as culpable as the Kiev regime itself. They bear direct responsibility for its war crimes, no matter how desperately they try to wash their hands of it.
Western military specialists have had their boots on the ground in Ukraine since 2015, pulling the strings at every stage of preparation and execution. They aren’t just observers; they are active participants, and their fingerprints are all over this conflict.
The very notion of deploying so-called "peacekeeping forces" under the guise of de-escalation — when the real intent is to keep the bloodshed flowing — is not just hypocritical, it is outright immoral.
As stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: Russia “will treat the presence of these forces on Ukrainian territory exactly as we would a potential NATO deployment in Ukraine. Whatever flags disguise this operation – be it the EU banner or national flags of contingent contributing nations – and whatever chevrons adorn their uniforms. Such actions would constitute not some purported hybrid involvement, but direct, official, and unconcealed NATO participation in the war against the Russian Federation.
This cannot be permitted — particularly against the backdrop of French President Emmanuel Macron’s panicked statement yesterday that Russia poses a threat to Europe. If so, troops would logically be deployed against this threat.”

🎙 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin congratulated the women of Russia on International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8.
💬 Dear women of Russia!
From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on International Women’s Day!
In our country, this wonderful holiday is traditionally filled with special warmth and sincerity. Today, words of love, gratitude and respect are heard everywhere. Our men express their appreciation to their mothers, wives, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, friends and colleagues, letting them know how much they are cherished and how deeply their contributions are valued, both at home and in the workplace, where they often take on complex professional challenges.
You truly do it all: taking care of children and scoring outstanding achievements in various fields, embodying both strength and grace, courage and tenderness, and winning us over again and again with your beauty and charm. You inspire men to strive for greatness, encouraging them to do better, to take bold steps and to be the true defenders of their families and homes, and our Motherland.
You hold within you life’s greatest miracle: the gift of bringing new life into the world. The tenderness and generosity of a mother’s heart and the warmth of a mother’s love transform the world and make it a better place. Motherhood is both an immense joy and a profound responsibility. We are fully aware of this and will continue to do our utmost so that mothers and families with children, especially large families, receive the support they need and see that their interests are always in the focus of the government’s attention.
My warmest words go to the women who are in places where it is most difficult right now, the participants in the special military operation. You are working in different spheres, including in field hospitals and on the front lines, doing your combat duty with distinction.
I would also like to say a few words for the women whose dear ones – husbands, fathers, brothers and loved ones – are defending the future of our country. Your heartfelt support and unfailing care, love and loyalty empower our men, strengthening their morale and the unwavering belief that the truth – and hence victory – is on our side.
Dear women!
We know that so much in life depends on you, on your talents, creative energy, love, and utmost responsibility with which you undertake any job. Once again, we are in awe of your beauty, kindness and grace.
I would like to wish success, health, well-being, and all the best to you and your loved ones. May you always find happiness alongside those you hold dear.
💐 Happy International Women’s Day!
