This allowed Germany to speed up preparations for the war against the USSR, which began on June 22, 1941, when Moscow had not yet finalized the modernization and strengthening of its army (completion was scheduled for 1943).

In this way, the Western policy of appeasing the aggressor led to another world war and the death of 50 million people.

Doesn't this picture remind us of today, when the West flirts with the aggressor, supports the Nazis in Kiev, and refuses to discuss any formulas for indivisible security in Europe? The West, obsessed with the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, is ready to neglect all categories of reason and moral norms for this purpose. The conclusion is obvious - of course it reminds us, but then to prevent the worst case scenario, specific actions are needed, i.e. refusal of any participation in aggressive preparations and their condemnation.

Think about it.

⚡️ Comment by Russia's MFA Spox Maria #Zakharova on the Kiev regime’s terrorist attack on residential areas in #Lisichansk

💬 According to the Military Commandant’s Office of the Russian Federation’s Lugansk People’s Republic, on Saturday, February 3, the Kiev regime launched rockets at civilian infrastructure in the city of Lisichansk, destroying a bakery. This is yet another cruel terrorist attack perpetrated by the Ukrainian neo-Nazis.

At the time of the attack, the bakery was filled with dozens of local civilians, as is usual on Saturdays, including elderly people and families with children, who had come to buy bread and food. The Ukrainian army chiefs who ordered the attack were well aware of this and acted deliberately.

The building was completely destroyed. The Russian Emergencies Ministry estimates that there may be up to 40 people trapped under the debris. At least 28 civilians have been confirmed dead, and there are numerous other victims. At present, Emergencies Ministry crews are working to find and rescue survivors and recover bodies from the rubble.

According to preliminary information, the rockets were fired from a Western multiple launch system. This new terrorist attack is the Kiev extremists’ way of expressing “gratitude” to the EU countries for their generous financial support. <...>

This incident once again demonstrates the criminal nature of the Kiev regime. According to President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the ringleaders on Bankovaya Street and in the Armed Forces of #Ukraine are parts of the same #terrorist organisation.

☝️ Russia will inform international organisations about the latest act of terrorism committed by the Zelensky gang. We expect that these international organisations will promptly issue an unequivocal condemnation of Kiev’s new crime.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the Business Council meeting

💬 The US-led collective West is persistently trying to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, impede its development and push it to the periphery of international life. <...>

A large package of measures has been applied against us to openly discriminate against Russian economic operators. They are blackmailing our traditional foreign partners and waging a large-scale information campaign to discredit Russia as a trade and investment partner. They are also openly stating their intention to undermine the Russian economy and render it uncompetitive. This is cynical beyond all reason.

At the same time, it is obvious that these anti-Russia activities have not been supported by the overwhelming majority of countries in the Global South, all those countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America that are pursuing an independent foreign policy and are guided primarily by their own national interests.

❗️ The use of neo-colonial practices by the United States and its satellites has significantly eroded trust in US-style globalisation.

The global majority have a growing number of complaints about the effectiveness and impartiality of international financial institutions and cooperation platforms that are controlled by Washington. There is a growing belief that nobody can be safe from the state-sponsored gangsterism of the collective West.

☝️ That is why not only Russia but also many other countries are actively using alternative currencies and payment platform in their foreign trade. We are creating international transport corridors and value chains that are protected from the unfriendly countries’ unscrupulous attempts to hinder the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.

💬 Lithuania must remove any monument to Holocaust perpetrators from public space, that is to butchers, even if these figures later opposed Soviet rule. You would not believe it, but this statement was made by Kara McDonald, a newly appointed US ambassador to Lithuania, who recently began working in Vilnius.

I would like to find out whether this was Kara McDonald’s personal civic feat or if we can expect similar statements from the US ambassadors in Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine that have also given the official seal to the glorification of Nazi collaborationists.

Importantly, while denouncing the criminals guilty of the Holocaust, the US authorities should not forget to urge themselves to remove monuments to Hitler’s accomplices in the United States.

Will they do anything about the monument to the leader of Lithuanian collaborationists Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, which was unveiled in Lemont, Illinois on May 4, 2019? At that time, protests against it came from the Russian Embassy in the US, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, a Jewish human rights organisation, and the World Jewish Congress (unfortunately, the Israeli Embassy kept silent).

In conclusion, I would like to cite Kara McDonald’s statement: “I will continue to speak out strongly against the glorification of individuals who are known and documented to have participated in the Holocaust. Such actions can be characterised as part of anti-Semitism.” So, it appears the Americans support the atrocities committed against other ethnicities who became Holocaust victims ⁉️

Tomorrow, we will send documents regarding the killing of Soviet people by Nazi Germany to the US Embassy in Vilnius to encourage the courageous attitude of the US Ambassador to start studying the history of World War II. I hope the fact that our countries were allies in the fight against Nazism won’t become a shocking discovery for her.
🎙Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Ella #Pamfilova and the heads of certain Russian regions (Moscow, February 5, 2024)

💬 Speaking at today’s meeting of the Foreign Ministry Collegium, Ella Pamfilova described in detail the difficulties that will arise this year, and that will be mounting. They are unprecedented due to the illegitimate sanctions of the Western governments.

👉The second problem related to the same Russophobic campaign unleashed by Western governments lies in the security of our missions. There have been many attacks at our embassies and consulates general including physical attacks in one form or another.

We are paying heightened attention to the security of our diplomats. When a foreign mission opens its doors to our citizens who want to vote, the risks of a provocation increase enormously. This is why the measures that we have approved today at the Collegium meeting take these risks into account.

🇷🇺 Russia’s Federal Agency for Fishery has offered Japan to help rescue the orca whales caught in the drifting ice.

The agency’s letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan says that the Fishery Agency and the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography have the necessary competencies and knowledge to rescue the ice-trapped whales, which are on the Red List of Threatened Species.

According to media reports, a pod of 16 orcas have become trapped by sea ice several kilometres off the coast of Rausu in the Nemuro Strait, which divides the north-eastern coast of Japan’s Hokkaido from the Russian island of Kunashir.

On January 27, 2024, the Energy Day was held within the framework of the international exhibition forum “Russia”. During the event, the results of the operation of the Russian fuel and energy complex (FEC) over the last 20 years were summed up, the current state of the industry, current priorities for its development and tasks for the future were discussed.

The Russian Federation remains one of the key players in the world energy markets, being a reliable, responsible supplier of affordable and high-quality sources of energy. Despite unprecedented external pressure, the Russian FEC is on the rise and continues to develop actively. It retains one of the key roles in the national economy, providing more than 30% of GDP, 50% of budget income, more than 3 million jobs. Achievement of full technological sovereignty in the fuel and energy complex by 2027 is a priority task for the near and medium term.

Our country ranks second in the world in oil and gas production. More than two thousand oil fields and about 180 gas fields are being developed, and new hydrocarbon reserves are constantly explored. Russia is open to constructive cooperation with all interested countries. The reorientation of Russian gas exports to new promising markets continues, primarily the dynamically developing Asian states. Our country has reached the fourth place in the world in LNG production, new LNG clusters are developing. The objective is to occupy 20% of the world market in the next decade.

The oil industry remains one of the most important for the domestic economy. The emphasis of the industry's development is on improving its technology and reliable supply of petroleum products to the domestic market. At the same time, forecast estimates about a reduction in the world demand for oil in the coming years are groundless, the peak of consumption is not yet passed.

The Russian Federation remains one of the leaders in uranium reserves and mining, ranks first in the world in its enrichment, implements 88% of NPP export projects and owns the world's only nuclear icebreaker fleet. In the context of international efforts to combat climate change, it was noted that the domestic FEC is one of the most environment friendly in the world. 87% of electricity is produced from clean sources.

See for yourself that Russia is at the forefront of global economy and technological progress.

⚡️ Statement by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the direct responsibility of the collective West countries, which supply weapons to the Kiev regime, for the death of civilians in the Russian Federation

Read in full

💬 The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation firmly protests against the collective West countries continuing to supply the Kiev regime with weapons, munitions and military equipment, which are being used to murder civilians and destroy civilian infrastructure in Russia.

<...>

The Ukrainian armed forces conduct these heinous actions with the use of weapons, munitions and military equipment sent to Ukraine, in part, by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Czech Republic and several other member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union.

<...>

☝️ The Federation Council hereby declares that in continuing to deliver weapons, munitions and military equipment, the countries of the collective West are becoming direct accomplices in the crimes of the Kiev regime, responsible for the death of innocent civilians, including women and children, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and gross violations of international law.

❗️ The Federation Council urges the parliaments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Czech Republic and several other member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union to acknowledge the direct responsibility of their countries for the death of innocent civilians in the course of attacks conducted by the Ukrainian armed forces on civilian infrastructure in the Russian Federation and to take urgent measures to stop the supply of weapons, munitions and military equipment to the Kiev regime.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:

🎙 Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia's remarks at UNSC briefing with regard to the UAF strike against Lisichansk (February 6, 2024)

💬 Ukrainian fighters have become so brutal and brazen that they commit terrorist attacks almost weekly, shelling civilian infrastructure and killing civilians on Russian territory.

• The actions of the Kiev regime are strikingly cruel and sophisticatedly hateful. The attack on Belgorod, the two strikes on Donetsk, and now a strike on Lisichansk took place on off days and holidays in places of mass gathering of civilians.

• Ukrainian armed forces feel total impunity and permissiveness. What’s more, they feel the unconditional support of Washington, London and Brussels, who do not care about the killings of civilians, broken families and ruined lives.

• In its blind hatred of our country and desire to weaken Russia in any way, the West is ready to pay with other people's lives and compromise universal norms of morality.

• Among recent heinous crimes of the Kiev junta is the terrorist attack of January 24 that downed the Russian military transport aircraft IL-76, which was carrying 65 Ukrainian POWs for an exchange.

• Today we have irrefutable evidence that a Patriot missile system was used in the strike, which leaves no doubt that Washington is a direct accomplice in this crime.

• Evidence of the Ukrainian armed forces' involvement in the IL-76 plane crash is so solid that even the West cannot ignore it.

• We call on the members of the Security Council and the United Nations leadership to strongly condemn the attack on Lisichansk and all other terrorist acts by the Kiev regime. The Bandera junta views your silence as a carte blanche to commit more crimes.

On the history of Russia-Singapore relations

In the history of interstate relations, the factor of establishing diplomatic relations is always of exceptional importance. The existence of such relations opens up ways for equal, mutually beneficial cooperation, development of political dialogue, increasing trade and economic exchanges, and promoting humanitarian ties. Russia-Singapore relations are no exception. After the establishment on June 1, 1968 of diplomatic relations between the then USSR and the Republic of Singapore, an exchange of ambassadors took place.

The first Russian ambassador to the Republic of Singapore (from December 18, 1968 to March 4, 1971) was the remarkable diplomat Ilya Ivanovich Safronov.

I.I.Safronov (1920-2013) was born in 1920. In 1947, he graduated from the Higher Diplomatic School of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chinese faculty) and then entered the diplomatic service.

As a professional sinologist, I.I.Safronov worked a lot and fruitfully in the Chinese branch of the Russian diplomacy, both in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the USSR Embassy in the People’s Republic of China. He also went on extended assignments to Australia and Mauritius.

But perhaps the highest point of his career was his appointment to Singapore, where he happened to be the first Soviet ambassador. During his years in office, the political, economic and legal foundations of bilateral ties were laid, which to this day play a significant role in determining the vector of Russia-Singapore relations, preserving in them a constructive positive element in them despite attempts to drown them totally in confrontation, sanctions and other restrictions, characteristic of the hybrid war unleashed by the collective West against Russia.

According to the memoirs of his contemporaries, including the current Russian Ambassador to Singapore N.R. Kudashev, I.I. Safronov was a wonderful, intelligent and exceptionally decent person. A tall, dedicated professional, he has always served as an example of restraint, a responsible, thoughtful attitude to work and the ability to see the long perspective, despite the factors that sometimes obscure it.

I remember his thin, fragile figure in the corridors of the Russian MFA, his calm demeanor with eternal dignity, his attentive, penetrating and inviting gaze.

Always open and friendly, I.I. Safronov generously shared his rich professional experience with the young generation of diplomats and sinologists, to whom the author of these lines belongs.

Thank you, dear Ilya Ivanovich! Friends, let’s think back on him!

⚡️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video greetings on Diplomatic Worker’s Day (Moscow, February 10, 2024)

Read in full

Key points

🔵 In keeping with our long-standing good tradition, we celebrate our professional holiday in February, which unites all those who defend Russia’s foreign policy track.

🔵 No matter where you work – in the central building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Smolenskaya Square, the territorial missions in the regions of the Russian Federation, or the Russian foreign missions – you uphold the true values of Russian diplomacy: loyalty to your Fatherland, patriotism, selflessness and a clear vision of Russia’s national interests.

🔵 Faced with the hybrid aggression launched by the collective West, Russia’s foreign policy service is making its contribution to the diplomatic support of the special military operation and the effort to achieve its goals.

❗️ Today, Russia stands at the vanguard of fast-moving change. By and large, we play a central role in defining this development vector and its content. This means that all of us without exception must keep up to speed at all times and adopt a forward-looking mindset in order to anticipate anything our ill-wishers may do, while being proactive and creative in adapting our enduring foreign policy principles to the changing environment. These principles include our commitment to independence, being results-driven, inclusiveness and a multi-faceted approach.

🔵 Russia is set to hold a presidential election soon. In fact, it is just a month away. This is a challenging moment in the history of our country when we must all fulfil our civic duty. I am certain that all our foreign missions will make the necessary arrangements to enable Russians to vote abroad. We are taking all the necessary steps to make this happen.

🔵 I wish you every success and good luck. Happy Diplomatic Worker’s Day.

⚡️ President Vladimir Putin answered questions from Tucker Carlson, a journalist and founder of Tucker Carlson Network.

Key talking points:

💬 After 1991, when Russia expected that it would be welcomed into the brotherly family of ”civilized nations,“ nothing like this happened. You tricked us (I'm talking about the US), the promise was that NATO would not expand eastward, but it happened five times, there were five waves of expansion.

• I proposed that the US, Russia and Europe jointly create a missile defense system that, we believe, if created unilaterally, threatens our security. <...> In the end they just told us to get lost. Our proposal was declined, that’s a fact.

• In 2008 the doors of NATO were opened for Ukraine. In 2014, there was a coup, they started persecuting those who did not accept the coup, and it was indeed a coup, they created a threat to Crimea which we had to take under our protection. They launched a war in Donbass in 2014 with the use of aircraft and artillery against civilians. This is when it started.

❗️ And what triggered the latest events? Firstly, the current Ukrainian leadership declared that it would not implement the Minsk Agreements. <...> A year or a year and a half ago, former leaders of Germany and France said openly to the whole world that they indeed signed the Minsk Agreements but they never intended to implement them. They simply led us by the nose.

•After we withdrew our troops from Kiev, the other side (Ukraine) threw away all these agreements and obeyed the instructions of Western countries, European countries and the US to fight Russia to the bitter end.

Wouldn't it be better to negotiate with Russia? Make an agreement, already understanding the situation that is developing today, realizing that Russia will fight for its interests to the end. And, realizing this, actually return to common sense, start respecting our country and its interests and look for certain solutions. It seems to me that this is much smarter and more rational.
