🇷🇺🇮🇳 During the official visit to India, Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin held talks with Vice President of India, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Parliament of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The Vice President greeted the Chairman of the State Duma, underscoring that it was a great honour for the Rajya Sabha to receive the Russian delegation. He also noted the existing deep mutual understanding between Russia and India.

"We have special relations. They are developing on the principles of friendship, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states and mutually beneficial cooperation," Vyacheslav Volodin emphasised in response.

🤝 The Chairman of the State Duma pointed out that the leaders of the states make a great contribution to the development of the Russian-Indian dialogue.

"For our part, we must legislatively ensure the decisions taken by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Our relations are growing stronger, and we must ensure that the dynamics that exist at the executive level are also present in our work. It is important to develop interaction within the parliamentary dimension so that we contribute to the development of relations through our work,” the Chairman of the State Duma underscored.

India is one of the key partners of Russia in Asia. “Over the past five years, bilateral trade has increased fivefold and continues to grow: from January to November 2024, it increased by 15%. Due to this, our citizens and our countries benefit,” the Chairman of the State Duma said.

☝🏻 Jagdeep Dhankhar noted the high level of Russian-Indian relations, as well as the significant role of parliamentarians in the process of maintaining them.

He recalled that over the past seven months, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia twice. “These two visits reflect the importance of our strategic partnership,” he stated.

“Our relations are entering new trajectories, the level of interaction is increasing. Both our countries coordinate their positions on platforms such as the UN, BRICS, G20, SCO to address global issues,” added the Vice President of India.

Vyacheslav Volodin congratulated his colleagues and the people of India on the recent national holiday – the Republic Day and invited members of the Rajya Sabha, Parliament of India, to visit Russia.

🇷🇺🇮🇳 Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin had a meeting with Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Parliament of India, Om Birla.

They discussed issues of increasing the effectiveness of Russian-Indian inter-parliamentary cooperation and the necessary decisions for legislative support of the agreements reached between the two countries.

Vyacheslav Volodin expressed his gratitude to Om Birla for the invitation to visit India.

🤝 “The dialogue between Russia and India is based on mutual respect, trust and non-interference in each other's internal affairs,” Vyacheslav Volodin underscored.

"Trade turnover is growing, our humanitarian ties are getting stronger, but we must not stop there, we must try to create a legislative basis within the parliamentary dimension so that relations develop even more dynamically," the Chairman of the State Duma said.

The task of parliamentarians is to legislatively provide for decisions taken at the level of heads of state, he added.

☝🏻 Vyacheslav Volodin believes it is necessary to intensify the work of the joint inter-parliamentary commission. He confirmed the invitation to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Parliament of India, to visit Moscow.

"It would be right to proceed with systemic relations so that we could hold meetings in an annual format, discuss accumulated issues within the framework of our powers," the Chairman of the State Duma addressed his colleague.

He also considers it necessary to build contacts at the level of relevant committees of the State Duma and the Lok Sabha.

In addition, Vyacheslav Volodin invited Members of the Lok Sabha to take part in an international conference dedicated to the development of parliamentarism, which Moscow will host in the summer.
