♟️ On March 28 — April 2, the First Anatoly Karpov Legacy National Chess Tournament was held in Trivandrum under the auspices of the Russian House and the International School of Chess.

More than 460 players from different states of India took part in the competition.

💬 In his address, Russian grandmaster Anatoly Karpov noted that regular training and playing in tournaments provide an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in decision-making.

🇷🇺 🤝 🇮🇳 Officials speaking at the opening ceremony underscored that chess is the sporting discipline that brings the peoples of India and Russia together.

Honorary Consul of Russia and Director of the Russian House in Trivandrum Ratheesh Nair presided over the valedictory function, the chief guest of which was S.N. Raghuchandran Nair, Secretary of the Kerala Sports Council, President of the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce. Among other prominent attendees were R. Sharma, President of Junior Chamber International (JCI), and actor Shankar Ramakrishnan.

📊 Since the tournament was included in the FIDE calendar, players were able to raise their national and international rankings.

🥇 The winners and participants received awards and memorable gifts. It was decided to make such an event an annual occasion.

🇷🇺 🎓 🇮🇳 On April 5, the Russian House in New Delhi hosted a press conference dedicated to the upcoming Indo-Russian Education Summit to be held on April 11-13, 2024.

The forum aims to facilitate exchanges between educational institutions in Russia and India as well as contribute to strengthening of the cultural and humanitarian ties.

Senior officials of several Russian ministries and agencies along with the delegates from more than 50 higher education institutions are expected to participate in the event.

🇷🇺 🤝 🇮🇳 On April 5, at Kerala Rajbhavan, Governor of Kerala Shri Arif Mohammad Khan received the members of the Indo-Russian Youth Club under the Russian House in Trivandrum, who participated in the World Youth Festival 2024 in Sochi.

The participants briefed the Governor on the details of the youth forum and the programmes held in Sochi, underscored that they had a great opportunity to learn more about Russia's culture. They also presented Russian souvenirs to the Governor.

👥 Among those present were Dr Mohan Kunnummal, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala, and Ratheesh C Nair, Russian Honorary Consul and Director of the Russian House in Trivandrum.

Following the meeting, the participants called on Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala Dr Mohan Kunnummal at the university office.

🎬 On April 5, the Russian House in New Delhi hosted a screening of Klim Shipenko’s space drama “The Challenge”.

Dozens of Indian citizens, including university students, and Russian compatriots became spectators in the Russian House. The movie was shown dubbed into English.

💬 The screening was inaugurated with welcoming remarks by Oleg Osipov, Head of the Russian House.

🚀 “The Challenge” is the first ever film shot in space — aboard the International Space Station — starring Yulia Peresild, Milos Bikovich and Vladimir Mashkov.

Following the screening, the spectators had an open discussion on the movie.

🎬 April 8 marks the Russian Animation Day.

Established by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2022, this holiday commemorated the 110th anniversary of the national animation — #OTD in 1912 the first screening of the puppet film “The Beautiful Leukanida” by the Russian director and cameraman Vladislav Starevich took place.

✨ Traditionally, on this day, Russia hosts many cartoon screenings, exhibitions and thematic festivals, and leading animators are awarded the respective prizes.
