🗞 Overall, the Indian media maintain a neutral stand in their coverage of the Ukrainian crisis, but many of them continue to blindly reprint articles on foreign policy events from biased foreign news agencies.
Read in full
• A recent example of fake news reposted from Western media contained information allegedly proving that it was a Russian “sabotage group” that blew up the Kakhovka HPP in the Kherson Region.
• The destruction of the Kakhovka dam & the resulting flooding of many communities was a subversive act planned by the Ukrainian authorities.
• Several Indian media reposted a Reuters item about Russia’s alleged intention to hold elections in the “annexed territories” of Ukraine, meaning the DPR & LPR & the Zaporozhye & Kherson regions.
❗️The decision of Russia’s CEC to hold elections in the new regions was absolutely legitimate. Elections will be held on the single voting day, September 10, 2023.
• Some print media mindlessly reprinted allegations by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about "Russia’s plans of a terrorist attack on the Zaporozhye NPP", claiming that Russia is not interested in security in Ukraine.
• However, the newspaper failed to report that the Kiev regime was whipping up anti-Russia hysteria by deliberately shelling Energodar & the area adjacent to the Zaporozhye NPP.
***
☝️ We hope that the friendly countries’ media will continue to cover the Ukrainian crisis in a balanced manner & that some media outlets will stop using mindlessly the brazenly anti-Russia materials published by the Anglo-Saxon propaganda bullhorns & Western news agencies.

🎙 Russia’s President Vladimir Putin's answers to journalists’ questions following the Second #RussiaAfrica Summit
Key points
• The [Summit] atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly in every sense of the word. These people want to work with us. As for us, we must do everything to move in this direction, and this is what we will do.
• We have done a lot of good and useful things for Africa. When we contact African leaders and they say as much, we always have a feeling that we are good people. This is true in this case and it is very good.
• There is a lot of demand for working together on security matters. Africa still suffers from terrorism. This is a challenge for many regions and countries there. We know all too well that stability at home is a must in order to promote economic development, while there can be no stability without security. It is for this reason that they want to continue working with us and are sincere about it. This includes military-technical cooperation. Outside pressure has done nothing to scare them away.
• The African continent is extremely friendly and positive towards us. This is an important foundation we can use to build business relations as well.
#Ukraine
• Just like any peace initiative, this initiative is helpful because it is focused on finding a peaceful solution to the conflict. There are certain provisions of this peace initiative that are being implemented after our meeting in St Petersburg six weeks ago.
• You know this, I constantly speak about this. We have never rejected peace talks.
☝️ The conversation in general was long and constructive. I think we spoke for almost two hours. Every participant had a chance to share their opinion on the matter. I want to stress once again: we spoke from the position of friendship, trying to find realistic ways and opportunities to lower the tensions.

🗓 On August 1, Russia marks the Day of Remembrance for Russian Soldiers who fell in World War I. On this day in 1914, Germany declared war on the Russian Empire.
Thus, our country joined the then largest and bloodiest armed conflict in history launched to redivide colonies, spheres of influence & markets.
⚔️ The war was waged by two coalitions: the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire & Bulgaria) and the Entente powers (Russia, France, Britain).
Russia was an active participant in military action which unfolded during WWI. Russian forces fought courageously and heroically on all parts of the Eastern Front.
☝️ #InterestingFact: One of the symbols of the Russian soldiers’ selflessness was the Battle of Osowiec Fortress. The advancing German forces used chemical weapons to eliminate a major part of the Russian garrison. Despite severe gas poisoning & heavy losses, the remaining defenders of the fortress rose in a bayonet attack & forced the enemy to flee. This episode went down in history as the Attack of the Dead Men.
Many Russian historians believe that the tide of the war was turned by the famous Brusilov Offensive on the Southwestern Front, which pushed Austria-Hungary to the brink of collapse & forced Germany to redeploy considerable forces from Verdun in France to the “Russian theatre of war.” The Second Reich lost the strategic initiative, and the course of the war was changed in favour of the Allies.
🕯 The heroism of Russian soldiers & officers can hardly be overstated. In that war, Russia lost over 2 million lives on the frontlines.
People in Russia have not forgotten their heroic compatriots who perished in the conflict. A memorial park complex to the heroes of the the World War I opened in 2004 at the former Bratsky (Fraternal) Cemetery in Moscow & a monument to the heroes of the World War I was unveiled in the city’s Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora in 2014. Overall, there are 20 monuments and memorials to WWI heroes in Russia & other countries.
